The problem with the rings of power isn't the way it looks are the acting all that much but the changes that were made from the original story and by a mission come from a place of racial and sexist hatred on behalf of the production company and the people involved with the project
Ok - Forgemaster looks like they will be taking more of my money - these miniatures look great! Thanks Benji for shining some light on them and getting them painted. I love that they they have a variety of weapon options - do you have a favourite?
I don’t think I’d get any myself, but that’s simply because I already have a lot of orcs. I’d be more than happy to play against some though as they are gorgeous
Cracking video as always mate. The paintjob looks great! The mini design is fantastic. I feel like we are living in the golden age of the hobby. Like you point out there are so many creative geniuses out there and with digital distribution these fantastic sculpts can be sent across the world without the logistical headaches of traditional manufacturing.
I’m gonna say it. I like the RoP I get that it is different from the original story. I think they changed enough but still kept in enough that if you know what’s going on then you know. I like these orks and I really like the elves and the wood looking armor they have. Thanks duder!!!
Keep an eye out because I have it on good authority that Forgemaster is making some elves too! I just enjoy the series for what it is. I know it’s not canon, and that’s ok. It doesn’t detract from any of Tolkien’s other work.
As a fan of 40k ork boyz I really appreciate the fact that you can bring a purposely non-uniform mob of orks (or orcs) into a semblance of organization just by limiting yourself to 3 or 4 colors of paint. That said I kinda wish these orcs came with more options--say interchangeable heads. Well maybe in the next print run.
That’s why I think I loved painting these guys. A couple of ‘uniform’ colours across the lot made them cohesive even though they’re all wearing different robes! I think the different weapon options do make this kit incredibly versatile - I’ve not done the sums but I’m guessing there are thousands of different combinations that could be made, but I guess it would have been nice to have the odd modular head.
I’ve seen a preview of them and they look AMAZING! I feel like I’m going to need a wandband of them too! It feels like collecting a whole new game again 😊
@@BenjisHobbies that's been my hesitation as I would love to have an army of them to go up against my numenor... But I already have like 4 orc armies so don't know how I'd do another :P but maybe just getting 2 set and running them in battle companies as the modularity would work well with that.
They’re soooo good to paint! I used quite a few of the Army Painter Speed Paints which work nicely on them because of the folds and recesses. A quick highlight and I think they look great. Looking forward to seeing yours… in a video maybe?!

Great paint jobs man. This is why I need to pay more attention to my highlighting! Who ever sculpted those minis got them spot on !! I think the best one is the guy with the skull on his head...
Picked these up the other month. Lovely kit. My only issue is the one with bow cos no one takes orcs with bows but this lot forces you to have that one

If you see the Rings of Power by itself, and you know there is no connection at all with Tolkien, then I would rate single episodes from not too bad to so so. If there will be a season II (looks like it was announced, then possibly cancelled, at presents it seems to be on again) I'll most likely watch it. I just do not understand why, instead of coming up with their own original things, some people like to massacre pre-existing frenchise. Ideas are not finite, you CAN make more stuff. But, dulcis in fundo, yes, those orcs were absolutely amazing.

I liked the series and really like a lot of the designs! As we have had no merch at all at this point, I think we will have a wave of merch down the road and my bet is that they will get GW on board. However, these look great and Forgemaster makes some awesome stuff. I hope you continue to do videoes on his stuff and other 3d-sculpted variants of the MESBG-range.
Minis look great! RoP wasn’t as terrible as many people make it out to be. The first few episodes were pretty good, though I did find myself wishing they would skip away from the Galadriel subplot. I was mainly watching for the Harfoots by the end. I never did watch the last episode though.
"say what you like about the rings of power"--Benji. Okay, the entire show was belittling to Tolkien's works. Huge CGI budget, what ruined it was race-baiting marketing and the same use of race to shield them from lazy writing from writers who want to go out of their way to disrespect the world that Tolkien had started created while in the trench's of WW1, his family that sold the rights to amazon should be ashamed of themselves. Keep to the original MESBG stuff not this crap. maybe new game time? Blood Bowl is cool, think a custom play pitch from you would look amazing and be a cool video.
Unfortunately not. With the instances of piracy and sharing files etc I think it’s safer (and more lucrative) for them to print their own and sell them.
I’d love to do painting tutorials but honestly I’m not that good at painting and I don’t think I’d add anything of value that can’t be learnt (better and easier!) elsewhere! Most of the base colours other than the skin were done with with the Army Painter speed paints (Brown, grey and bone colours) and then just very slight highlights with a very bright matching colour!
I was excited for a second to see GW do minis for this series. Since the title said Warhammer I thought it was for the LotR game and not some small indy release
Insane minis! I was also hoping someone was going to do these Orcs. I need to get my hands on these, I just wish that shipping to Canada didn't double the cost of the minis!
They’re sooo good! Maybe ask around in your local community if anyone else wants some and you can split the postage? Might make it a bit cheaper for you!
I'd be interested in seeing how they match up next to orcs from Games Workshop's Lord of the Rings war game. If the scale seems right you could probably use them in that as a unique gang of orcs.
Awesome looking minis! I painted my GW Mordor Orcs with the RoP color scheme because I liked it that much!! Also: would you mind telling what basing material you use? It looks so good!!
Honestly mate I had the same thoughts! I loved Rings of Power. It was always going to be hard to make The Simarillion into a TV show, so the haters need to stop. Everything seems to receive alot of hate these days whether it be Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTRs and so on... but I think its because people have the tools to voice a complaint easier. In other news mate, these minis are stunning. I've seen a miniature for the Darl Elf from the series too. I think he would be a cool video in his own right. But honestly thank you so much mate. These videos have been a blessing whilst going through a rough patch.
I may not know what im talking about... but it seems like the tolkien estate should get atleast some blame. Taking so many millions but not allowing the story to even be possible to tell correctly. Seems the cared about money and didnt care if tolkiens work would get butchered, because thats exactly how they set it up, no?
Absolutely agree with you. Whatever they do on TV shows there are going to be people that aren’t happy as it doesn’t live up to their expectations. The source material they could use for this series was so thin that it was going to be almost impossible to make anything resembling canon. You’re very welcome. I hope things get better for you ☺️
Stunning paint job, they look amazing. Happy to admit even though I wasn't a fan of the show, the look and music was absolutly incredible and would love some minis from the series.
@Benji’s Hobbies Amen I've had my eye on those orcs for a while they are so nice. Have some ideas to convert up the elven knights but I'm a long way off that.
