I buy that citadel mud effect thingy just cause I'm new to the hobby and cant come up/ dont have the willpower to do a proper base, thus I end up with an easy mud base after i finished painting my mini.
Honestly, I’d love to see GW re-do this one. It actually seems like a great idea/product to get kids introduced to airbrushes, and getting zenithal highlights, and especially army painting!!
@@LinkiePup it would need some refining but I definitely think it could be useful, and probably work out a lot cheaper than buying specific coloured spray cans!
Good shift in focus. I find I enjoy videos more when it's clear the creator truly enjoyed making and sharing the content. A lot of full timers lose their appeal once they get sucked into the content grind. Just have fun with it and we'll stick around.
I am evil, I use the cheapest shittiest brushes. I don't use miniature paint, everything is craft paint. I hate it so much but would rather spend two hours painting a miniature with shitty paints than spend a few extra dollars to save some time.
As for brushes a pack I highly recommend are the SMS micro detail brush set. They hold their paint super well and clean up really nice. I’ll never buy other brushes again
Hello, just stumbled across this video while looking for some stl rocks to decorate my aquarium. Couldn't find the files anywhere though 😢 Kickstarter has already closed up but i just need those files!! Is there any way to get them now? Kkkk that looks awesome, congrats dude.
Games workshop profit margin is 30% They say they don’t gatekeeper they’re literally gatekeeping hobby by making it virtually impossible for new people to get into it. I don’t care what anyone else thinks, I’ll happily buy a recast any day of the week if game workshop doesn’t want me to, then lower their prices.
I have two kids under 6, two jobs a wife and mortgage and immune issues cause arthritis, I understand completely and I’m here to view when every you can produce videos and say I feel you, I hope your well and stay positive.
I to have become type 2 diabetic but I was 41 and it came right after loosing my Dad… I truly feel for you man… I started watching your channel from the garden shed build and then the build out of the garage.. I hope you the best and yep your health is always more important..
GW will for sure be replaced by 3d printing in this generation. They are going to have to move business model to lore/rules/STL selling. Know that your days are numbered G.W. (lol).
This is the first video that I've seen of yours it genuinely my attention hats off to you for looking after yourself I wish you the best in the future and I hope your channel grows as you enjoy the hobby
Strongly disagree on the paint. Just the pot design is enough to never want to buy/use. The eye dropper design that the competitors use are much more practical, and this is besides the cost being roughly 25% plus more expensive. I don't even get why you don't like the Citadel mud, if when it comes to the paint the same problem(cost) can be said, but you give it a pass.
Hey Benji. Just a word from guy who had a difficult time like you. IRL im Police Officer and single parenting Dad of a boy (older then yours). I'm in the lucky situation that im physically in a pretty good shape. But as life is, it throws stones at us at all the time. My son is absolute dream child from his mom and me. After she gave him birth she got serious mental issues and in the end she got diagnosed with Borderline + OCD. After the Babytime she lost her job as nurse cause of the OCD. I tried my best to keep my little family together, above the water and take care of them. As Borderline is a constant up and down, she had phases where she could not even leave the house. I need to take care of our baby, her, the household and my job. Sometimes I was so burned out, I started to develop srs sleeping issues cause of the permanent stress. After two and a half years I was at the end of my strength. I simply couldn't help her anymore and was on the verge of breaking myself because of the situation. That's why we separated. As she could not take proper care of him, im forced to take him with me. He loves his mom and despite her Borderline she loves him too. She was my absolute dream woman back when we get to know each other and I could not imagine to have a family with another person. This situation was a absolute nightmare for me! So I still try (to this day) to do all humanly possible to make sure that they booth see each other as often as possible. But it is still a consistent fight. All the up's and down's. All the lying. Your absolute right AND wrong about your opinion about what is the hobby worth. In all the years of struggle, when I find time to sit down to paint, I got a little piece of peace and silence. Not worrying about mental issues, doctor appointments, who I should fill the fridge and pay the bills with just my salary and so on. In the end, it's not about the Mini's in our displays! 100% with you. It's about the time we spent with something we enjoy and sometimes it is a blessing to have a thing that give you the opportunity to have a little "alone time".
I love the Citadel Dry Brush paints! They took a little getting used to, but I love how well they work and that they come in a range of different colors.
The best space marines fpr me are still the old classic ones: stubby, far from a realistic look and full of character and style. Like classic 3rd to 7th edition period
there are many other companys that produce minis like Gundam and DOESNT SCAM their loyal customers like GW does-.- the FW is shyte and tbh: without 3d print and 3rd party designers i would have dropped out more than 6 years ago -.- (75€ for a Terrain piece that has one floor-.-, the stuff production value on a small scale for the same thing is like: 20€ and GW has industrial levels so they can actually produce easier-.-)
Legal Warhammer is overpriced profiteering bulls**t and I don’t care what Games Workshop simps have to say about it. To all the cool people who relate but don’t want to buy the chinese copies or 3D print them due to the impracticality of it, feel free to make printed paper models on pucks. Tabletop Simulator and DLC are also an option if that looks too ugly for you. …Don’t be toxic by putting money into bad ideas.
Hi Benji, well done! If you are interested in a new project, the Italian community from the "il sito dell'anello" has just released a very cool fan-made supplement, the War of the Ring second edition. Who better than you to make a video and talk about it?
Benji, we know your mates with luke from lukes APS but cmon man, he quits youtube, so do you. He gets a kid, so do you, he has diabetes... well we see the trend. 😂 All joking aside pleased you're doing better. Concentrate on yourself. RU-vid will still be here when your ready man. ❤
Be very proud off yourself it takes a lot to do this i have been going through something simiiar myself literully had tests yesterday its really nice to see you back just take your time and do what feels right dont pressure yourself
Good to see you back on RU-vid and good fortunes and health to you the coming months. Life is hard sometimes, I salute you for your bravery to share that online.
The price is gonna be whatever people are willing to pay. It always is. If 3D printing is driving prices down, GW needs to change its strategy, which it looks like they are. We gotta remember they are a business. We’re all saying Bud Light…GW internally has probably been talking about Kodak for several years now. They are pivoting hard, operating with a theory I believe is deeply flawed, and recently falsified. But they are right to try to find a way to ensure 3D figures are not their bread and butter. It’s just if they think it’s gonna be all video games and tv shows from here…I mean Star Wars pretty much proves there aren’t enough casuals and blue haired revenge consumers to succeed. It’s too bad, because left alone, big budget 40k shows, made by a team of people who love the IP could’ve raged for a few years.
What a touching journey! I often think about the bigger picture, but the end result is always the same, I want to do the things that bring me joy in life, and if that is painting miniatures, then thats what I should do. Wishing you all the best for the future <3
Absolutely this. I enjoy mini painting. It gives me a lot of pleasure, especially when they make it on to the tabletop! Thank you for your kind words 😊
honestly as someone who hasn't been anywhere near as successful as you in the nearly 8 years I have been running my channel I can get you taking a big break from the platform in general and it is rough to have medical conditions appear on you out of the blue like that. honestly it's good that it was caught before it took you out. I do wish you the best in your adjustment and changes going on in your life. I do hope that you can find more time to do things you love in a healthy was as things move forward
@@BenjisHobbies aaaw thank you benji. honestly i get a bit where you where you are coming from in this video. I had a major health issue at the start of last year that took me out of action and threatened to take me out of action for more than a year (luckily that didn't happen) though i think I had a few things ready to go during the absense
It gets easier as they get older mate, the first few years are bloody hard, anyone that tells you otherwise is kidding themselves. I can remember being SO tired and having absolutely no down time and it grinds you down, you cant see and end to it all, but it gets easier. Give it long enough and you have small people to paint and play games with. Loved your channel since I found you as you aren't one those full on hobby youtubers, you one of us in the real world. Being a Dad comes first, having some time for yourself comes next, we are way down the list. Its good to talk.......
