In a short amount of time, Adam Blampied became an icon in the RU-vid wrestling community. Now he has completely disappeared from the site, or has he? Get more content here: Facebook - / tapoutcorner Twitter - / tapoutcorner
I miss this guy so much. He was the reason I started watching Whatculture when it first started & I was so excited to see him and the others in Cultaholic. It devastated me when he left RU-vid. I really hope he comes back to Cultaholic.
"I'm not trying to excuse what he's done." And from I can see, neither is he. He didn't make excuses, he didn't try to dodge responsibility. He didn't even try to hide his actions. He admitted it was wrong. Took responsibility for his mistakes and resolved to try and make HIMSELF a better person. He didn't try to get back in the spotlight, and he didn't blame others. And that is why I can forgive him.
Lunacorva same here it's one thing to do something wrong it's another to take responsibility and take steps to correct what you did you can tell Adam is a genuine and sincere person
@@ljmoore6780 Exactly. I've had to deal with people both personally and proffesionally who pull hurtful shit and act entitled to people's forgiveness without trying to change.
Like a true man, he didn’t pass the buck or make any excuses. He admitted he was wrong and made changes. I’m proud of Adam and I hope he returns to making content. If he doesn’t, that’s okay, as long as the man is happy. But he was the voice of wrestling content from the time I was 15 to 18. And I truly miss him.
I do disagree on 1 thing sex addiction is not real. I wanna fuck 24/7 like 30+ year and since the age of 9 all I thought about was sex since the first time I saw soft core on cinemax. I get it people saying they are sex addicts but seriously I think all men are until the get ED and then they still are they just can't go as often as they want. Sex addiction doesn't make you act a complete douche maybe makes a lil douchey but that isn't the end of the world type manipulation shit that is just thing shitty people do. Now I give him credit for not running from what he did. But for people to blame sex addiction as to why he did what he did is disingenuous. He did it cause he was a douche who had no self control. I'm not hating on Blamp as he seems cool and sincere but he would still be doing what he did back then if he didn't get caught.
"i'm adam from whatculture and this......" those words alone and me binging those videos was what single handedly got me back in to pro wrestling. while i can't condone what he did... i honestly believe that everyone deserves a comeback. here's hoping he makes one very soon... i miss that guy.
I think most people are feeling just like you. You, me and many others cant condone what he did, but it appears that he has changes. From what i understand he was in therapy for nearly 2 years. Also its so damn hard to hate Plumpy, he is just *one huge fricking charisma boi* really has talent and something to offer to the whole industry of pro wrestling. To this day i regularly go back to "How WWE Should (have) book(ed) XYZ" because he is so darn entertaining.
@@firemarshal2629 So, any wrongdoing Adam did is eclipsed because it's not the end of the world situation? Regardless of whether it could be worse, still a fucked thing to do.
This guy is an absolute legend in wrestling community. He honestly made every list and video amazing to the point that i skipped any video without adam in it. He is truly the Jim Ross of wrestling content
I thought Adam Blampied ran Whatculture Wrestling by himself at first. He was that important to that channel. I still miss him, Simon Miller is the only guy I really like on the wrestling channel
I miss Adam.. I hope he comes back to wrestling youtube after wrestletalk. I think he's missed by alot of the community who loved his fantasy bookings, I loved it when he said the famous "WWE.. DO IT BETTER!" And Adam Blampied has always done it better!
icønic Kaden he admitted he had a sex addiction and he messaged a bunch of girls pressuring them into sending nudes and such, and then he went into therapy to help it and I’m not certain but hopefully it helped and he doesn’t struggle with it anymore.
icønic Kaden if he’s publicly appearing in a huge video he must’ve sorted it out, not trying to make excuses for the guy here but people underestimate how much a physcoligical addiction can take over your heard like that
It's no longer a "he's kind of back" it is now he is LEGITIMATELY back. Making lists and fantasy booking videos for WrestleTalk's subsidiary channel: partsfunknown. The Adam we loved and missed is BACK!
I still don't get it. Adam cheated on his girlfriend, yes. He talked consenting adult women into sending him nudes. What he did was definitely unethical, but why is everyone treating him like a criminal sex offender?
Duke Adam's not being treated as a criminal sex offender. Criminal sex offenders are arrested, tried, and hopefully jailed. What's going on here is two fold: 1) Like you said, what Adam did was unethical for various reasons. There was a manipulative and predatory aspect to his actions that, though legal, many people found troubling and disturbing. People are doing what they should do when things bother them, speaking out. 2) On Adam's part, he's said that he has a sex addiction that motivated him into making harmful choices. He went away to get help for that. (Good on him.)
@@0urmunchk1n It's his life and his business. And it literally had nothing to do with you. What "people" are you talking about that spoke out? Seems to me, he admitted what he did himself. And why are you this involved in his life, anyway? I JUST found out about this, personally. On another note, I hope everything you do in the dark is clean. I really do. Because if I found that you were on some dirtbag shit, I would be just as judgemental towards you as you are towards him.
@@Jay-Jones So there’s a lot to clarify here, but let me begin with that TL;DR: People (not just me, but you and everyone else) are free to make market decisions, with our attention and our money, on whatever basis we individually choose, even if those decisions are hypocritical. First, to clarify my position on Adam, I think what he did was the right way to handle the situation. His actions weren’t illegal but it was unethical. The argument that they could have walked away is a lot like saying that someone shouldn’t have gone down the dark alley alone. To my understanding, based on his account, he was leveraging his position for sexual favors, specifically nude pics. He took responsibility for his actions and is going on to become a better person, apparently including therapy. Just taking responsibility makes him a better person that many in his position. He’s now starting to ease himself back into public life and that’s cool. As I said before, good on him. I’m not down on him, but I’m also not going to whitewash over what he did. That said, after this conversation, I’m unlikely to bring it up again. Now for a further clarification, when I say people, I mean anyone that engaged with his work at WhatCulture, or more broadly anyone that engages with any performer’s work. That includes their behavior, their politics, anything people become aware of. Let’s take Colin Kaepernick as an example. From my point of view, here’s a guy who used a moment dedicated to honoring the United States, a country with a central ideal of freedom of speech, to make a statement, and people get down on him for that. That said, I’m not going to watch the NFL, its not my thing, but they are. If they choose to turn off the TV or not buy tickets for games, that’s their right. If they hope the NFL fails because of it, that’s their right. If they choose to burn their Nikes because they hired him as a sponsor, that’s their right. If they want to make videos of them doing that, that's their right. I think it’s silly and hypocritical, but it’s their money, their attention, their right. Same goes for fans of Ted Nugent, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lois C.K., fuck it, Pewdiepie, Obama, Trump, or anyone else. “It’s his life and his business.” That’s true, except he’s a public figure. His job was (will be again?) to entertain people. By making videos he’s asking for people’s attention and, either directly or indirectly, money. This puts him under scrutiny, as any public figure would be. “And it literally had nothing to do with you.” Until it affects my ability to enjoy the products he produces. At that point it has everything to do with me and I’m free to deny them my attention and my money and advocate for others doing likewise. This crosses a line when people being lying, harassing, flooding their Twitter or Facebook accounts, making threats, or calling for violence. As long as it’s within the bounds of protected speech, it’s just expressions and markets. That’s the world. And again, when I say me I mean anyone, including you. “What "people" are you talking about that spoke out? Seems to me, he admitted what he did himself.” Back at the time there was quite a bit of back and forth, apparently on Twitter, but yeah, he handled it really well. By the time most people found out about it, he was gone. According to this video, it started with him being accused by a woman on Twitter. There was then a brief Tweetstorm of people attacking both him and her. He stepped up to her defense and then went away. I’m still not sure if he left Cultaholic or if Cultaholic kicked him out, but it largely stopped after that. “And why are you this involved in his life, anyway?” I found out about the entire incident when Cultaholic started up. If memory serves, he was supposed to be in the lineup, but he wasn’t making videos, so I searched. I found news about what happened, but by that point he was gone. But, yeah, early on, there was a Twitter storm, but not one that involved me. Adam is just an example of a larger point about “cancel culture” in general. People are free to say “I won’t support that” for whatever reason they want. Likewise, people are free to say “you shouldn’t support that” for whatever reason they want. When a public figure does something that damages their brand, which is what we’re talking about, they have to deal with that. (I think Adam gave a great example of how to do that.) If our standards are too high, and they may well be, we’ll figure that out. There’s a balance to be had between moral expectations and the reality of human behavior, with social repercussions being a mechanism for regulating the limits of what’s acceptable. To quote the meme, “we live in a society,” and all this is all inherently political. Not Republican/Democrat or Tory/Labour political, but political in the sense of the mechanism we have for non-violent social change. The point I started with was that Adam hasn’t been treated as a sex offender, he’s been treated as someone who’s behaved in a manner that’s socially unacceptable to some people. Those people can make whatever free speech and market decisions they want. Those people are free to convince you that you should do likewise as well. You’re free to convince them their over reacting. Hell, you’re free to convince me that they shouldn’t have that right, but I don’t think you’ll succeed. It’s not even that I don’t think there are troubling aspects of cancel culture. It’s that I think that shutting down those avenues that cancel culture exploits interferes with inherent rights that everyone possesses and abridging those rights in the way you would need to cancel cancel culture would be far more dangerous and damaging. “I JUST found out about this, personally.” Okay. I found out about some of it when Cultaholic started up. I found out about the rest in this video. Not sure what the point is. “On another note, I hope everything you do in the dark is clean. I really do. Because if I found that you were on some dirtbag shit, I would be just as judgemental towards you as you are towards him.” If I haven’t made this clear, you’re free to judge me. I’m working on building a board gaming company. That could make me in some sense a public figure. If some shit came out about me that affected the way you feel about my games, whether sexual, political, or anything else, you have the right not to buy them. You have the right to encourage your friends not to buy them. If you’d already bought them, you have the right to make a video of you burning them. Those are your rights. Now don’t harass me, don’t threaten me, don’t make up lies about me, etc. but I’m not immune to judgment. No one is and no one should be.
In 2015, my mom was diagnosed with cancer and given a year left to live. For what was the most difficult year of my life, a good chunk of my 'release' from real-life came from watching WhatCulture videos. Blampied, for that reason alone, will always be someone I have affection for. Glad to see him doing okay.
I still constantly rewatch his “Diary” series. A IWC legend. He admitted his wrongdoing and reformed himself. I, for one, can and do forgive him and welcome him back if that is his choice.🙂
@@vids2002 it was kind of fucked up how they just dropped everything about him but then again adam did do some pretty messed up shit before. Now hes Reborn like a Phoenix from the ashes 💯
Brody Mack as soon as everyone left it was complete garbage. I tried to make it work but I just couldn’t. I was so sad to unsubscribe especially since they were my favorite RU-vid channel at one point.
Adam handled his shortcomings with such grace, and showed that he wanted and would change. That's a man you can allow a second chance. Cancel culture is so ridiculous bc the people who are so unforgiving to celebs who make mistakes and/or are bad people would be HORRIFIED to have their dirt online for the world to see. I love Adam. I stopped watching Whatculture altogether and Cultaholic until recently bc he left. He can't tease us with a one-off. He has so much to say with his wrestling wisdom and I wanna hear it! Go, Adam, go!!! 😌📣📣📣
The rise and fall…and rise again followed by another fall…such an entertaining individual, as far as wrestling and board gaming is concerned, but also a total creep.
I'm watching this in November of 2021, and I just want to say that, I commend Adam for coming out about what had happened. Its not like someone leaked stuff or made those accusations and THEN Adam came out and spoke, he got out ahead of it and made it known himself. And he took responsibility for his actions and made sure to get himself better. Major props to him.
This wasn't mentioned in the video for some reason, but I'm pretty sure some of the women he took advantage of were minors (and he was fully aware of the fact)
Wish Adam comes back better than ever In his recent video,he seemed to be a bit depressed, there were no sarcastic jokes or all of the trademark things he did before Hope he makes a solid comeback
Could also be he's out of practice. I mean the guy hasn't done any of that for a good 3-4 years. His look was a bit different yeah but he seemed okay IMO.
He could of also realized why what he did was so bad. Not only to the victims but also his friends. Ofc he didnt mean to mess up his friends lives yet he did amd as everyone knows thats worse than messing up your own.
@@brettt141 predator?? I don't like this twat blampied at all but he tried to get a few birds to send him some nudes not exactly to catch a predator stuff is it. Stop being such a fanny.
From what it sounds like now it is all water under the bridge between blampied and the other 4 now and would be nice for him to make a return before wrestlemania but they also have other great talents like Tom Campbell, Jen, and Maffew on there too
Did his time? All he did was leave the visual medium. He did no actual time or played no restitution for his predatory ways. Now people are welcoming him back open arms. Big bullshit.
@@BrighamMike But he did all he could to heal and make up for what he did. He never made excuses and apologized. Not only that he went through therapy to help his problem. There isn't much else to do.
Fuck that shit, after they dropped him? He should take his God-given voice and promote the fuck out of his own channel. Do you think people would go back to whatculture or just go directly to HIS channel? 95% of these comments say “I only watch whatculture for Adam” 🤨
We all make mistakes, but adam didn't make excuses and he took his lumps for it. He was a talented creator and I hope he does more. One thing about wrestling fans, we love a good comeback story. And if anyone would have a good idea how to book a comeback, it would be Adam Blampied
The man admitted wrongdoing, got help to deal with his issues and returned to something he is astonishingly good at. Good on him and I've been loving his new content.
I remember that day in October. Was super excited for the launch of Cultaholic and when that news came out I was left stunned and bewildered. The day before my birthday and the biggest launch on RU-vid I was ever excited for would be without one of the personalities that I’d grown to absolutely love for the past couple years. It was heart breaking, and i still do wish that Blampied will make a return to the project that was only a baby when he was let go
I actually respect Adam for the way he handled this at the time. He acknowledged that even though there was not threat or perks offered that his position created a power dynamic and he exploited it. It doesn't make him a criminal, but it is, as he says, unacceptable but he acknowledged and apologized and promised to improve. Now he's in a stable relationship, has a new position with wonderful people at his side and is making great content. It's great to see him doing so well over a year on from this vid and great to see someone recognize damaging behavior and work to improve themselves.
He didn't make excuses, he didn't dodge anything, he didn't deny anything, he owned up to everything. And that is admirable. I miss his presence on RU-vid. He is a genius and his contents were amazing. I hope he returns someday.
as a Wrestle talk fan im very happy to see Adam on the channel and from what it seems like from a fans view that he is doing much better now , if you haven't yet id say go check out some of the content he has done now for wrestle talk and their side channel partsfunknown .
If anyone is curious, he is now making content. He runs a board game channel Called no rolls bared. It’s got some great content and his personality definitely shines through
You have to remember that when his fall from grace happened, it was the height of the Me too movement and cancel culture was at it's worst. Had he not come out ahead it, things could've ended much worse. But he was a man and admitted that what he did was wrong, and did his best to fix it. Reading through all these comments, it's great to see how many of us have his back still after all this time. I honestly hope Adam sees this and gives it another go. I'm sure it's been long enough that the boys at Cultaholic would have him Join Them again. Hell even if he just did his own channel with one or two videos a month, that would be enough for me!
When I saw him on WrestleTalk I felt so happy to just see him. He has a personality that few can match and he really seems like chap I'd love to sit down and just talk. About life, wrestling, the weather, political bullshit and anything. I just wanna listen to him and have him listen to me. And he seems like that. I hope he is continuing to do what he wants to do.
Adam Blampied is deadass the main reason I got back into pro wrestling I found one fo his videos on what culture and loved his personality and humor and my desire to watch all of his videos made me a fan again so I’m happy to see him back in the RU-vid wrestling world
5:28 no joke, this was a top 5 wrestling return for me. I was on cloud nine when he announced PartsFunKnown and No Rolls Barred, and man it feels great to see him doing what he loves. There’s a lot more positivity now as well, which is really lovely to see.
thing is, I have considerably more respect for someone like adam than I do for someone like david starr. adam didn't wait for other people to expose him, he came out about it, apologised sincerely, took a break from everything and got his life back on track, instead of pretending that stuff never happened like so many do, so I actually still respect blampied
@@AlanNadeauIII damn it's a shame you don't know. Dude was arguably the best wrestler in the world at the end of 2019, putting on classics with people like Walter, Jordan Devlin, ilja dragunov, in the European indie scene, namely winning the ott world championship and progress' super strong style 16 tournament. He got exposed as a serial manipulator and predator behind the scenes in the speaking out movement in 2020 and hasn't wrestled since, with ott stripping him of his belt and cutting ties
Adams "how I" series of videos and top 10s were the main reason I subbed to whatculture and cultaholic. WWE would've done well for themselves to hire Adam as a creative writer (hell, AEW could do the same). I would love to see his thoughts on the Omega v Okada anthology, and Jay White joining bullet club.
When adam left RU-vid, i left my fandom of Wrestling, i dont know if the 2 were linked. What adam did is discusting but tbh, I honestly think 20% of the human population would not know how to react when met with internet fame. And id say 5% of those would get an ego / perversion. And he has worked on himself. Leaving YT was probably the best decision to make. I fell in love with MMA and Formula 1 afterwards
Omg thank you so much for this video.... WrestleTalk keeps being so weird about something Adam did in his past and I keep asking in the comments so this video really helped.
Did you really say "his victims" there was only one victim, his girlfriend. Dude asked for nudes, he didn't blackmail or threaten anyone, that is a really over the top way to refer to the young women.
@@jamesnorthcote3718 So the problem with "emotional blackmail" is the inherent vagueness of the term. What does that mean specifically? Did he tell them it would be big for them to bang a big RU-vid star? Or did he threaten to ruin their life and someone use his clout online to hurt them? Both can be defined with the same term, but I would hope we can agree they aren't equal. As to the "mentally ill" claim, I would love to know how you acquired the medical records of all the young women involved.
Nick Messner acquires the medical records? It was very well known they they both suffered with depression. two of the people he did it to both literally said he knew and they felt that was why he targeted them.
those "women affected by his behavior" are most likely still sending nudes over the internet to other guys, those kind of women dont just start and stop doing that kind of stuff. They most likely did it before him and are most definitely still doing it.
What the tuck are you talking about they sent him nudes they were adults this whole thing is fucking dumb. The only one that needs to be apologized is hi girlfriend
to be fair, its pretty wrong to marginalise cheating on your partner with the sentiment of "thats all it was", but otherwise you're right, it was a bit of an over-reaction.
People hating on him, well you know what? He KNOWS what he did was wrong and like a man he owned up to it. He got help. He made a fucking change. How many of you people, who's hating can say you've done that? We ALL have bad habits, some worse than other's like Adam but he had the strength to seek help and you people can only look at his mistakes? Like you're perfect and havent done anything wrong? Really? "Your past doesn't define you". Remember that shit, haters. Anyway I hope Adam is coming back, there was/is no one like him, he's a one of a kind entertainer with a lot of charisma. Glad to see him back and I hope to see him on Cultaholic, WELCOME BACK BLUMPI!
Adam Blampied was the real reason I started following Wrestling again. Adam vs Adam was brilliant, his fantasy bookings were stellar, and his relationship with Pacitti, Driver, Tweddel, King & even Mr. HERE'S WHY was some of the best I've seen on this site. I really do want him back, but I also am okay with him on his departure. He's done so well for himself, and after all of this recent stuff of celebrities doing acts that aren't exactly of the most wonderful nature - he's been one of the few that have stayed true to recovering and has actively stayed away to recuperate. I have so much respect for Plumpy, as his passion for wrestling and presenting was and is extremely unmatched, even to this day, and I hope that whatever he's doing now, he has found happiness and enjoyment.
Have to admit. I became a WhatCulture Wrestling fan because of Adam. Hell, I became more intrigued and more critical of wrestling because of him. He opened my eyes to a new side of wrestling that I never considered before. He gave me a newfound love for wrestling and changed my views on it forever. When he left, I still stuck around for WhatCulture but I eventually unsubscribed because it just wasn't the same. I missed his voice, his wit, his booking, and just his general presence. For a while, he became the most recognizable voice of wrestling channels. I'm glad he's back and I hope he can fully overcome his mistakes. So many people do horrible things but never want to take the full responsibility of their actions but here's a man who has sincerely taken all the criticism and never shifted the blame to anybody else. He admitted he was wrong, he apologized, he never negatively responded to the ridicule he got, and he just genuinely took it like a real man. I've forgiven him and I hope most people do as well.
I really don’t get why he had to quit over that..... he asked girls for nudes while he had a girlfriend. The only “victim” was his girlfriend. That would have mostly blown over in a few weeks.
Kit Palmer it seems to me like he asked girls for nudes while he had a girlfriend and they sent them, then regretted it after. The only thing he did was betray his girlfriend. That shouldn’t be something you lose your job over.
I wasn't even a wrestling fan when I started watching Whatculture. I loved listening to his videos, and then I decided to get into wrestling thanks to those videos
As a woman, I am sad to know of what he did. It's sad how fame can hurt someone and those around them. However, I believe in redemption and i am so excited to see him back..we are all human, all sinful, and we all screw up. In the end, hes a very talented man and I pray he has learned so many valuable lessons and he can finally move on with a clean slate.
He should have never fallen. Some cheap trick wanted to get close to a youtube celebrity and regreted sending him nude so she went and told everyone she could find and blamed everyone but herself, the person that actually sent them. He didnt do anything wrong, and I for one hope he comes back.
I like Adam nd he is missed dearly. IMO he's a true man. He confessed to his mistakes and is trying to correct himself. Nobody is perfect it's how we learn and evolve from our mistakes, that's what makes us who we are. Hope to see you back again soon Adam.
Honestly I'm absolutely OK with giving him a second chance. He's talented, funny, and in my opinion one of the main reasons that WhatCulture became as famous as it did. Yes he fucked up and yes he needed help. But he admitted to his mistakes and he DID seek help. Looking at some of the predatory pricks on YT, TicToc, Instagram ext, I don't think he should be put in the same hell-pit. I'd love to see him in WC again and his fantasy booking videos were all amazing!
"Victims" I mean he shouldn't have msgd other girls if he had a girlfriend but a guy msging/sexting you doesn't make you a victim! If it persists after you've rejected those advances maybe it's like harassment or something but just hit the block button! The real victim was his actual gf in all this. Not some girl who hits the screenshot button and outs him!
Actually it's more than that...It's the exploiting his position that really got him in trouble (rightfully so)...but he has shown real remorse, and if Kobe can be beloved by the sports world after his "scandal", Blampied has definitely earn a second chance (also I really miss him, wrestling youtube channels are just not the same without him)
@@JT-Rebel how did he exploit his posistion? If you mean using 'internet fame' then surely that's fair game when pulling isn't it? Lol I mean I'm sure it played a part in every celebrity pulling on a night out? Is that exploitation?
@@LS-fd6tl Without seeing exactly what was said, the most logical thing I can assume (these are my personal assumptions, educated guesses, don't @ me) is he most likely "implied" that he could get the victims a job or favors, whilst implying they need to supply something sexual in nature, in return...It's a gross thing to do and I hope that's the worst he ever took this to
@@JT-Rebel that's a bit of a leap though mate and thus it wouldn't be logical to presume that. Now if he had, yeah that's exploiting. Not trying to stray off topic too much here but imagine if that scenario had the genders the other way round and it was a female offering something in exchange of sex - would the male have been presented by the media and everyone as a 'victim'
@@LS-fd6tl you're not straying off topic...because the "traditional media" is definitely hypocritical and sexist and they definitely would not have called men the victims..imho, whatever gender anyone identify themselves should have nothing to do with it...if the genders were reversed, the men are victims, no matter what neanderthal mindset society still have at this very moment
To be honest, I didn't know why he left and have often wondered, so thanks for the video. I dunno why it popped up in my suggestions, but I'm glad it did.
He didn't pass blame or make excuses. He owned up to his actions. Those actions has permanently put a scar on his reputation but you learn from them, help yourself so you learn from those mistakes, and move on from those life habits. I know a lot of people want him to make a comeback (I would be ok with it) but if he admits he's addicted to sex why go back to the lifestyle of when you were doing those bad things? If he does come back that is cool but if he doesn't come back I would totally understand since he has removed himself from the environment in which he made these mistake/moments of weakness so he can move on from that addiction. Whatever he does I hope it is the best for him and he can continue to help improve himself and his lifestyle. Edit: I never really watch wrestletalk or any of the such consistently anymore (Haven't watched wrestletalk really at all). However knowing he is actually doing videos with them means he has come back. If he is happy doing it, continues to move on from the issues he has in the past and continues to become a better man than good for him.
He (with the now Cultaholic guys) was one of the main reasons I got back into wrestling. That's why I will always love the guy (and the others of course). I'm happy to see that he seems healthy. The way he handled his problems and fought his demons deserves much respect and the guys deserves a second chance. I hope we get to see some more of him, especially fantasy booking related, because he's just amazing at doing this!
