That statistic comes from a report done by Jon M. Taylor PhD called "the Case (For And) Against Multi-Level Marketing" which the FTC studied and verified. The report in entirety can be found on the FTC website (which I will leave linked below for you). The report is 40 pages long so if you are only looking for the statistic skip to Chapter 7: MLM's abysmal numbers. His statistics were independently verified by other experts prior to being given to the FTC as listed in the appendix. Other experts such as Robert Fitzpatrick have also done their own independent studies and came up with the exact same numbers.

Hey Everyone, I had to cut out a portion of my video several months after uploading. This is due to one of the stock videos I used back when I made this video (September 2021) was free to use and now (March 2022) it’s not for whatever reason. I received a copyright claim so instead of reuploading this without the original almost 40 seconds I’m going to remove that and then add what I said here. It’s at the 18 minute mark if you’d like to follow along: According to a former employee by the name of Justin, he said that James “really turned that place into a shit hole. The guy’s kind of a dick.” In 2005, there were 16 former employees of Lisa Frank Inc, that submitted sworn affidavits in a lawsuit that was against James and his horrible behavior. It was alleged that James had fits of rage, he was constantly using profanity, and publicly berating people. James wasn’t the only one who was described as abusive and difficult to work with. Lisa was described this way by some former employees as well. Needless to say, the work environment seems to have been a toxic one. While I was researching all of this, it reminded me of a job that I had when we first moved to Florida. I have talked about it before, and even spoke about it recently in a video, but I ended up cutting that bit out because it was associated with something else I was talking about and unfortunately the original thing I said was slightly incorrect and my personal story wouldn’t have made sense without the part I was incorrect on.

Many famous people come from an upper middle class background. Chevy Chase, Salma Hayek, Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine, Taylor Swift and the lady from Seinfeld to name a few. I think that speaks to the importance of connections and having money.

I really do think having connections helps significantly. Plus Lisa didn't have the same things to worry about when opening a business as opposed to your average every day person.

Not every upper-middle/upper class family has connections, but they DO often have the ability to help with bills like rent and utilities during the lean years when the adult children aren't making a solid paycheck. That's a freedom that less economically-fortunate families just don't have.

@@wurdnurd1 definitely agree! They often are able to provide excellent classes and training too which can be yet another advantage. But I think in a capitalistic system, having money is basically akin to connections as those connections really can be bought. Just my opinion, every right to disagree 🙂

This series is excellent timing! The 90’s is definitely making a comeback. I drive by middle school all the time and the kids are wearing almost EXACTLY what we all wore back then! 😊

if it bothers you that Lisa Frank bought objects cheap, and brought them back home to sell at a huge mark-up (it infuriates me, TBH), you might be interested in Ten Thousand Villages, which pays artisans from all over the world a fair price, and sells their products at a small markup (mostly to pay for the storefront, and one or two store managers; at least at my location in St Paul, most of the people who staff the shop are volunteers): About - Ten Thousand Villages

Fyi, renter to renter: in the doorway, you can get a tension rod to hold a curtain. No holes needed!

I'm older, so I was mom to a young boy in the 90s, and thus not required to buy any Lisa Frank items. I didn't care for her style of illustration, but it seemed to be absolutely everywhere. everywhere

Lisa Frank’s comparison to Michael Jackson, I’m sure, was only in reference to the fact that she was requesting and valuing her privacy. Most people of fame or great accomplishments prefer to not be held in the spotlight all the time. I’m sure that must be very frustrating and depressing.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but a decorative screen would be an easy fix for hiding the bathroom doorway, and you can just place it against a wall out of the way when you aren't filming.

I know, I found it kind of ironic but the oldest son is actually working for Lisa Frank Inc. now. I'm pretty sure he runs the Instagram account amongst other things but maybe he will be able to revamp the brand somehow.

If you’re referring to me doing that, you do realize I come from the generation of people who grew up on Lisa Frank right? I even said how I had Lisa Frank items as a child. Just because it brings children joy doesn’t mean the unethical parts of the business can’t be spoken about. Especially amongst adults because according to my analytics people who are watching me are adults.

Now that we have a baby on the way my daily is a Tiguan (this is my first automatic in years 😭😭😭) but my husband drives little sh!t boxes because they're so dumb 😂 93 Miata (the limited edition one) and a Fiat Abarth. Of course they're modified, but they're still dumb cars to have lol. Oh and i forgot we have two other cars currently that need to be worked on and sold but it's a Firebird and a Genesis RSpec coupe

I'm kind of an odd one out re: Lisa Frank. I liked to buy stickers as a kid, but unfortunately Lisa Frank didn't have that many bunny stickers, and since bunnies were my favorite animal as a kid - that kind of took Lisa Frank off the table, mostly. And also, since I spent most of the 90's in special ed private schools, most of my classmates were boys. Not only did this mean I had basically zero social life in elementary school ("no girls allowed" and all that), it meant that I heard more talk about things like Power Rangers and Mortal Kombat (which I was also not into) than anything about Lisa Frank. The only Lisa Frank I got was courtesy of a counselor who gifted me a huge pack of their stickers, which I wasn't about to turn down because hey, they're stickers at least and I like stickers. And none of my fellow classmates had any - too girly for most of them, and the few girls in that environment tended to adopt at least a few boyish trappings sooner or later, and I was no exception to that rule (I knocked down a man-size weighted punching bag with a single blow as a teenager, when none of the boys in my class could do that, and if that's not a "boyish" trapping I don't know what is). And I recall only two girls that weren't either massive nerds or sort of like guys, and one was a fairly normal introvert that got pulled out after a year (no doubt because her Japanese dad was worried about the possibility of her becoming a hikikomori) and the other was a single girly girl who didn't take school very seriously. And there was a third girl whom you might read as "girly", but she was "girly" in a way some of the boys were "girly" as a result of being trained into infantilizing submission, most likely at home AND school.

So in part two I go over their collabs and it caused me to look on Target's website. You can order a few notebooks online but that's all that I saw.
