KidSuper was begun by Colm Dillane from just selling clothes in the Brooklyn Tech High School cafeteria. To go from selling whatever he could to one of the hottest brands in the world is an exceptional feat. The Spring 23 alone was an incredible fashion show unlike anything Ive seen before. So how did he get there?

WOW SO FUN! so much work amazing job; some little edits if you care haha : the picture in 15 seconds is not me haha the kidsuper name kinda came from me being small and also as a joking alias. it was actually after BOTS haha I did the store in the dorm in my second year. I never bought the building I was just renting it but I remember painting the building and thinking people will think I owned it and was more successful then I want. (I REALLY wish I could have bought it haha) a lot of people came to the store opening but no one came for the months after when the store was just open for normal hours of operation. my first fashion show bull in the china shop was actually not accepted, that was my first attempt so it was unofficially part of Paris. my first official calendar show was the stop motion one. the fashion show made out of donated clothes, we actually made the song during the event while we were making the clothes, its fully original so you can post it haha that rejection letter dress is actually for that show. again was rejected I just did a show at the same time as Paris fashion week in Paris. the reason we didnt go so hard on the paint is because right before the show started the venue said we cant have paint on the floor so I had to put this plastic wrap on the ground and it created a human slip and slide haha also the ending with the break dancer and the footsteps becoming a print on the clothes was pretty performative! lolol I cant say I wanted to go back to catwalk I just had to because Paris fashion week wanted it. anyways incredible job so fun to see you dig so deep thank you!

Im pretty sure the bull in the china shop collection featured the rejection letter for that season on the blue jacket thats an early look (look 3?) and I assumed it is what inspired the dress that was used as the opener, but I ran out of time to say so 🤣 Im glad I was right in my assumption that you wanted to go harder on the paint, it wouldve looked so sick - though turning that tarp into clothes (a la margiela) would be SO FIRE Thank you so much for your noted, Im really glad you enjoyed the video so much

@@understitchYT haha yea I was rejected both times so I used the rejection letter for the first look of each show until I got accepted and if you look at the stop motion fashion show the first look jacket features my final acceptance letter... making the clothes out of the tarp would have been a much better idea haha my mom just watched this video haha shes like you weren't that small! I was lol

I cant believe I didnt notice that, I really loved that collection and thought it was such a shame your first official PFW collection had to be online 🙄 but it was a great, original idea to extend your stop motion work into that space

Great Summary! Kidsuper has never been my personal style which unfortunately held me back from looking in them even though I've always enjoyed the creativity of what I did see from them. I love claymation so much it's so cool to see it used in fashion. Just in general, it's such a creative, artistic brand while also being affordable!? Thanks for making this, slept on no more.

This is kind of similar to how I feel about Rick, I respect him SO much but just not my personal style, just because I seldom wear black. But as a general rule, I think prints are trickier to sell as a luxury good than blacks and whites. Do you remember the Dolce Familia collection? That was awful and didn’t look expensive at all, though it sold fairly well in Asia pre-racism scandal. So I think its quite a feat for a small brand to be able to create their own style of print and still make it feel like a luxury when large brands havent been able to

Kid super really is one of the most refreshing brands out atm not just with clothing, but with its marketing runway shows and films

Well, only 6 months later we can definitely say KidSuper "continued the momentum". I'm only watching this now, not long after attending their AW23 show, and KidSuper for LV and wow... To say KidSuper has some of the most creative 'runway shows' during any fashion week at the moment would be a huge understatement. The AW23 runway was literally a comedy show where some of the best comedians right now wore the looks. It's so much more interactive for the audience than a 'traditional runway'. This was such a good watch for understanding how everything culminated bring the brand to where it is right now.

Incredible video analysis and story telling! I found out about kidsuper only via the LVMH prize (so yeah pretty late) but I was attracted to its creative vision and translation to fashion immediatly. Haha also bc in the fw2020 theres a shirt and pants with landscapes on them (a desert and a farm) and as an agricultural scientist this was first time i saw the theme being applied to fashion. But I so loved getting a deeper insight into the growth of the brand. It's really a rise and rise journey.

So dope. I've really enjoyed watching Kid Super's evolution. The brand has a larger than life feel and whenever I rep it it makes me feel the same too. :) great doc, love all the details. AND your accent is fire.

I really agree about the feel, especially the suiting makes me feel that excitement from clothes. I really wanted the blue suit with the woman’s face print but the jacket is sold out everywhere! What did you cop?

I watched a video of his in which he was painting, then he said "...you know who can't paint? F****ing Jeremy Scott." I wasn't sure if it was just a joke or not. I don't know much about art so, can't really judge him. But, he will never reach Jeremy Scott's level in fashion. Never. *English isn't my 1st language.

Since making the video ive got to know Colm a little bit and would be very confident in saying that it was a joke. Hes easily one of the nicest/funniest people Ive met in fashion ❤️
