JJ Redick was a hometown hero, college basketball legend, NBA bust, or basketball pioneer depending on who you ask. Today we cover the rocky road that was JJ Redick's basketball career.
Stan Van Gundy screwed this dude over by not playing him more/using him more efficiently. You missed the part where he was going to sign with Chicago in 2010 but Orlando matched his contract. I believe he would’ve flourished in Chicago with D Rose at the point. He definitely would’ve filled that gap for “scorer” on the team right after Ben Gordon left.
Man with JJ on that Bulls team and D Rose coming into his prime (and imagine if he never got injured) that team would’ve been nasty. They would’ve had everything from outstanding defense, to a great point guard who could distribute and slash to the rim like nobody else, and then JJ as a consistent catch and shoot and even secondary ball handler at the 2??? Mannn. I love Bron but D Rose is my favorite player of all time and I think those Bulls teams would’ve given the Heat an even bigger challenge than they did and could’ve even potentially won a ring or two.
@@jamaaldagreatest2748 ppl tend to forget during his MVP season he played a good portion of the season w Kurt Thomas , taj gibson AND Keith bogans( started the whole season) starting because of injuries to boozer and Noah. So arguably ( with Noah ) his second and third scorers we're out most nights during that year
@@williefaulkerfr LeBron fans never get that part. They always just point out the stats but with the context of that situation, it would definitely go to rose. Not saying LeBron wasn't good that season neither but d rose got that year. Also LeBron got his revenge on our asses in the playoffs so idk why it's such a debate
@@jlrob85maybe but also could've prevented the d rose injury. This is all what ifs, d rose was out there so needlessly. Our backup pg was John Lucas lll. So maybe if a better pg in JJ rather then Lucas would've been there, d rose would've been resting at the end of that game. But thibs obviously hasn't learned his lesson with last year n Julies randle. So who knows
JJ is arguably the best shooter in NCAA history. He'd put up 20, 30 and 40 point games against top teams from shooting jumpers. JJ wasn't taking people off the dribble or driving to the hoop...he got his points by shooting jump shots. I never thought JJ would have such long NBA career. JJ is and always will be a top shooter, but the way he developed his all around skills was incredible. That goes to show how hungry JJ was. Now JJ was able to take people off the dribble and get his own shot.
I modeled my game after JJ. when you're not tall, athletic, or a great ball handler it's tough getting out on the floor and being impactful but JJ's game only required two things, Shot making and energy which is something that can easily be practiced
I give the guy credit, he won me over with his podcast while he was still a Clipper. He's funny, he's knowledgable and he's cocky without being a prick. There was the episode where he had Jay Williams on his show and he asks Williams how many points he scored at Duke. Williams was like 15 years out of college had no idea so Reddick tells him exactly how many he scored. Reddick asks him why he knows that fact and he says "when I was recruited they told me I can be the next Jason Williams in Durham and I knew I wanted to be better." He had a good NBA career. Never an All-Star but he brought a lot to that Clipper team. Put him in the NBA today and there's a chance he's a 20ppg scorer.
He was always fun to watch, both in his pure shooting and as he improved everything else by leaps and bounds at Duke. He pretty much had to be seriously defended once he passed half court cause he was a weapon on any spot of it. I am so glad we got four years at Duke with him, I am so sick of one and dones, I can't even watch college anymore.
JJ was an anomaly in a way. He was one of the few people who actually made himself more athletic as he got older. Dude did WORK in the gym. He physically transformed himself. He put on like, 15-20 lbs of muscle while getting faster and more agile. Never gonna be the best athlete but he outperformed limited physical gifts by working.
JJ Redick was not really a bust , since you realize playing him at 2k was all green HAHA. anyways , this was a underrated channel hope you had much subs in the future.
My favorite athlete of all time. First player I ever began watching and followed him from his early days at Duke until his last season with the Mavs. What a career!
Great hoop knowledge love the way you talk about the game keep up the great work and pulling out the vintage highlights can you do a video on my boy mo Williams
I’ve always found it funny how people considered JJ too small.. 6-4 without shoes is not small at all 6-5.5 floor size. And then you see people who are 6-5 and there scouting reports are “has good size”
If he stayed in philly his ppg wouldn’t have dipped and he might’ve played another year or 2. Sucks we chose Al Horford over him. I’ll never forgive the sixers for that.
honestly to all youtubers. we dont care the ratio of people subscribed to unsubscribed. stop being so damn redundant. if it doesnt change with one video it isnt going to
JJ was my favorite player at Duke, and I followed his career throughout the NBA. So it was fun going from nothing early in Orlando to seeing him be major parts of the Clippers and 76ers. Probably should’ve stayed in Philly instead of going to Nola.
I really need someone to explain the "high iq". How is this determinable from just watching him as a player? It's a moniker he carries, but it seems that it's based on his media gigs and articulation more than anything else. No?
