Just watched the After Skool video and had to come watch more of this! This is exactly how I have been wishing we could all think in terms of rationality. Remember the root of that word is RATION, meaning we must look more closely at our ability to deceive ourselves and realize we don't know everything. Living in a society where everyone feels the need to constantly be right or not only exhausting, but counter productive. Thanks for sharing this wisdom!

“History Doesn’t Repeat Itself, but It Often Rhymes” - Mark Twain The quote above came to mind when listening to the learned gentlemen. In terms of history, assuming that the Historian is in pursuit of truth, I think the discipline tells you about human nature and insights that can be derived from Psychology can also be evident in History. Knowing what I know about people has helped me discern historical lies and current lies. People are people regardless of the age they are in.

Facing the wall like that is part of Soto Zen practice, the school of Zen taught at the San Francisco Zen center. I've been practicing for years. I do it for 20 minutes a day. If you focus on breathing and your breath, and keep coming back to your breath whenever your thoughts run off on a tangent, eventually the river of thought runs dry. This is where ego disappears. Even just a few minutes per day is very helpful for daily life. But, usually, it requires several months or years of practicing 35 minutes or more several days a week for the ego exit to occur. I had it happen a couple of times when I used to practice at the Zen Center many years ago. The bell would suddenly ring and I'd think "that was 35 minutes?". It was almost like time became non existent when the ego wasn't present, from a subjective standpoint at least.

I am just staring to the corners as well, it works. To get a break from remote work, I look at my unfinished hobbies in front of me, and being alone I focus on what I need to do next, like looking at wood and then coming up with a design plan and eventually sketching it to build within the next day damn, the finality idea is perfect. I need to do this more, it will make a huge difference going forward. Great video !!!

Love this. The world needs more people teaching. But the radicalized people are emotionally charged, you could speak actual truth to them and it means nothing because theyre running on emotion not logic. So, this type of discussion is good to help people learn to navigate emotions to not override real truth. Critical thinking skills is something many dont learn today, sad, cery sad. Sometimes I realize I'm actually racist, or pessimistic. Sometimes I discover I actually have deep, complicated thoughts. When its all just swimming in my head its all just a vague soup of thoughts and feelings that I can't immediately eloquate to others from thought to speech.

I asked AI if journalists should use AI to write articles, and AI makes a compelling argument. "Journalists should use AI to write articles for several reasons. First, AI can significantly speed up the writing process, allowing journalists to produce more content in less time. Second, AI can analyze vast amounts of data and identify patterns and connections that might be difficult for a human to detect, leading to more accurate and well-researched articles. Third, AI can help journalists maintain consistency in their writing style and adhere to grammar rules, resulting in articles that are easier to read and understand. Lastly, AI can also help journalists fact-check information and verify sources, reducing the likelihood of errors and misinformation in their articles." (1) (1) My AI friend.

What a Giant missed opportunity for real truth! I was so hopeful for this presentation to actually grasp and present truth and yet in the first four minutes of this presentation evolution was mentioned umpteen times for which there is Zero scientific evidence. As long as you believe and espouse the delusion of biological evolution you will continue to fall short of The Truth! As I watched your After Skool presentation I actually thought that you were bordering on real truth and then this. What a disappointment. As long as you continue in Pride you will always fall short of the Truth. Pride is the enemy of Truth. You came so close. Real Truth comes from outside ourselves and is far far above us. As long as you demand to be the god of your own little world you will always fall short of The Truth. Remember, we must be humble to find real truth. As long as you embrace theories that absolve you from the responsibility of directly encountering and addressing The Truth you will remain in deception. How utterly depressing it will be on That Day to have come so close and yet fall so short! I really don't even understand how you can come this close to truth and totally miss it other than Pride, which as we know is the enemy of truth. Jesus said that He was The Way, The Truth, and The Life. Until you grasp that Truth you will remain a day late and a dollar short. Take joy though, Truth is the enemy of Pride and if you are courageous enough to face truth no matter where it leads you will find freedom.

I take issue with the concept of the historian as fundamentally not engaged in prediction. At its core, a logical prediction is a process by which the available information is analyzed, contextualized, and packaged into reasonable speculation about the future. A historian does precisely this, but facing backwards. It is true, that, unlike future-focused predictive analysis, we may never learn how "true" or accurate this speculation is, given that achieving such certainty is predicated on visibility that - without additional discovery - may never be possible. That being said, the job of the historian is to predict, in effect, truths about our past. Whether THAT matters to you depends entirely on whether you believe that understanding the trajectory of human history matters in the making of the human future. I'd argue that there is no better defense against the absolutist fear-mongering and divisive statements of political extremists - on both sides - than to demonstrate the un-remarkableness of human behavior and systems in the present. To do this requires a foundation in historical truths, which we understand only through comprehensive analysis and reanalysis of our past. Now, do I believe that any of this is the typical result of being awarded a degree in history? Of course not. But that doesn't diminish the value of the discipline or the work of people who are actively engaged in earnest historical analysis.

19:35 power and Corruption are inseparably entangled and directly proportional so the higher you are in the hierarchy the more likely and willing you are to make something up that maintains or elevates your status with few exceptions because there are some truth tellers out there like me who say exactly what they believe come hell or high water and we don't have any friends for exactly that reason but at least we're honest and often so frustrated we want to pull our fingernails out with pliers before we're willing to listen to Somebody spout nonsense without calling them out.

25:30 they understand also that 90% are going to look around to see what everybody else is doing and then try to keep up rather than author an original thought of Their Own mostly because they never change to the default setting from follow because that was easier for them so you only have to get the ball rolling and inertia carries it from there this is the nature of the heard. Kind of ironic isn't it that our key to success and our biggest claim to fame is our ability to cooperate to be much more than the sum of our parts which requires everyone working together following the lead of the shepherd (or maybe a wolf posing as a shepherd) and now a better understanding of that dynamic has been weaponized to use against us and the very thing that threatens to destroy us. Funny enough it made me question if some of the points you made were examples of irrational intelligence.

The universe exists at many different scales. At our scale, molecules are incredibly small and galaxies unimaginatively huge. But at the scale of a single particle, even a sugar molecule would be huge. At the scale of a galactic supercluster, the Milky Way is but a speck. The crazy thing is, the laws that govern interactions are seemingly different at different scales. Our first physical laws - classical mechanics - were biased to our scale and work very well for things like bridges and bowling balls. But when we discovered the atomic scale, we realized our classical laws were useless and we had to develop quantum mechanics. At the largest scales, our laws - even updated with general relativity - still break down. Hence, we need "dark" energy and matter to make things work. In the end, the way our brains intuit "objective truth" is based on our interactions at our human scale. To extend such a concept to the quantum world is fraught with philosophical peril. At the quantum scale, particles can pop in and out of existance at random. They can be in multiple places and states at once. Is anything "objectively real" at that scale? Or is objective truth an emergent phenomenon? I don't know that there's a clean answer. But even if truth is emergent, I wouldn't argue that makes it any less real.

16:07 they haven't any understanding of why they think this way they just do and since do you think it feels good it must be good and nothing could be further from the truth as most anything great that's worth having requires hard work and often even pain to achieve. Women are hardwired by nature to be exploited particularly by infants but buy anything they consider young or helpless in need and I'm not blaming women I'm blaming nature but that's what was required for our species survival so I don't resent it I just resent fit people won't understand or acknowledge it see it for what it is and then mitigate any potential harm caused by it I mean after all even a full could easily see that open borders and a welfare state in the greatest country on the planet is a recipe for disaster requiring unfathomable amounts of cognitive dissonance to accommodate yeah there it is and pretending it doesn't exist just enables it to continue to the detriment of all

30:52 you know anybody with the ability to think for themselves and even a modest amount of intellect could easily imagine the past when our ancestors were evolving that was unlike today which makes up 99% of our past and a very different lifestyle could clearly see that that's not accurate because is it is far more likely that your ancestors woke up had nothing to eat because it's pretty stupid to have food sitting around in the same place you are wild animals roamed meaning of which saw us as being on their menu rather than the other way around spent the majority of the day foraging or hunting and did just the opposite of what they say to do regardless of what or how much we eat and that is eat it all and then go to bed so we likely have one meal every day at the end of the day if we were lucky and I don't see any place in there for grains or even vegetation which would have need to be cooked in order to avoid having to spend all day chewing cud like a cow in order to digest. Now see how much more beneficial it is to be able to think for yourself then to face everything you think you know on propaganda and Dogma and sometimes even outright lies just to create an elaborate illusion of Perpetual Harmony the and unanimous consensus that doesn't actually exist in reality just saying

You correctly pointed out that refined carbohydrates are linked to heart disease, but then you fell for the more pervasive part of the war on fat propaganda. The fear of saturated fat is just as baseless as the general low fat craze. You should look at the history of research on saturated fats and cholesterol. It starts with an emergence of false but dramatic research claims about 70 years ago that have never been taken back because there is a huge industry spanning many sectors that has been built around them. High quality animal fats are very valuable especially in childhood development. That is why these foods have been valued highly throughout history and across cultures.
