In today's episode, Elle delves into the phenomenon of "princess treatment" from provider men as the latest status symbol among women. She explains how women's increased economic power and educational achievements have shifted traditional markers of high status. Elle discusses how women now use this new status symbol to communicate their value, but emphasizes the need to include more women in this category to raise standards for men. Elle explores the mismatch in the marriage market, citing studies that show a shortage of economically attractive men for women to marry. This shortage has made "provider men" a coveted status symbol. She also highlights the implications of this trend on dating and marriage, referencing various research findings. Elle stresses that while "princess treatment" is aspirational, it should ultimately help women recognize their inherent worth and set higher expectations for their partners. She warns against allowing this trend to divide women or place their value in the hands of men. Instead, she advocates for using the trend to empower women to demand better treatment and foster stronger, more respectful relationships.

My fiancé has told me that him communicating with me, respecting my space, and providing for me IS the bare minimum. And that loving me is a privilege he gets to indulge in, not a chore.🥺 He knows I don’t enjoy jewelry (I have autistic sensory issues against metal) but I really enjoy physical touch, and boy does he provide physical touch! He pets my hair, cracks my back, gives me massages and cuddles, and always makes downtime for me. We go on sensory-friendly “quiet dates” to libraries, art galleries, and museums. He often compares me to Venus or Aphrodite.💖💗💕✨ Sisters, save your precious time and space for a man that loves you how *you* want to be loved! This is princess treatment💖👑✨

@KhadidjaKhadouj-ur4ke Don't you see the red flag here? Everybody knows McDonald's is not the healthy food out there and not a place to "date." Coffee shop is better for space and drinks to get to know a person. The guy is either having problems with his finance and likely will drag you down too or trying to test a woman. What they are willing to take you in the first date is how they feel about you. Unless they are teenagers then sure. I do like McDonald's ice tea. I don't lie about it. However, taking a person to eat fried junk food on the first date, ughh... Similar theory, when guests come to your house. Most of us would make homemade meals or buy pastries for guests. If you do this consistency and when they know you come to their' house instead but decline to treat you everytime. Oh well, sorry that's how they feel about you too. Every relationship, if not related by blood, are pretty much having mutual benefits.

As a spoiled girlie I enjoy these conversations but many of these statistics need nuances themselves. As a black woman married to a korean man we’ve learned to “chew the meat and spit out the fat” with statistics. I’ve also experienced not as many are happy to see a spoiled girly who is black married outside of her race. Just some nuance to think about. Also, it’s important to note that it’s not women who “make these choices” with family/work….its our misogynistic government that leaves some with no choice. This is why it’s important for women to support each other no matter the lifestyle.
@rattgod

I understand all men all share this view, but a lot of BM in particular hate seeing BW who are high maintenance or invest a lot of money and time into their looks. But I also see more BM accepting a woman like that if she’s not black or look ambiguous. The same way a lot of BM claim BW have an “attitude” but will willingly seek out and try to be with Latin women who they say have “spicy” personalities. I think a lot of BM and men in general hate how high women’s standards are getting, it shows them they have to do more than the bare minimum. Men know they have to be all around a great partner if they wanna increase their options within dating/marriage. Men have been told their whole life that they’re the prize, when in reality, that’s far from the truth. Women have always been the prize and more important.

In my country most people in STEM are women and guess what, it's not a glamorous high paying job, taxi driver can provide more than certain laboratories, so people usually work there for the idea, interest, good of mankind, you name it. The opposite how IT went from "Code Girls" to "Tech Bros" and suddenly the profession is lucrative and prestigious. I don't know what comes first, men chasing status and luxury or their labor being noticed and having to have accolades unlike the invisible women, hence boy clubs = value, but societally I find it kinda sad how devalued nurturing is along with what is "women's spaces" during that blip of history and why men tend to bully and harass women away from certain fields probably partially to this. And when women overcome hurdles, they just give up without having status delivered on silver platter instead of adapting or being ok being equal, it's crazy.

Women who are being taken care of financially need to use their position of power to take care of other women who aren’t as fortunate - start a business and hire them, donate as much as you can to women’s causes and shelters - showing off on Instagram isn’t do anyone any good. Do some actual good for women in need with your new status. You don’t need the 5 carat diamond, that donation could fund an entire women’s shelter for a good period of time! Spread the wealth. Create economic empowerment for other women so they can level up and avoid men* and provide for themselves until they find (or don’t, everyone’s choice) someone who can take care of them the way they deserve

My ex husband duped me as the amazing boyfriend and fiancé, but as a husband he took off the mask and showed his true abus*ve self. The way he treated me was his responsibility, it was not my fault. You will know. He is a provider when he doesn't let you pay anything for meals and entertainment between dates when he asks you out. However, if it's related to your personal stuff, don't expect him to pay for it. Red flags: 1) Watch his closed friends. If his friends rely on women's support and money, yeah he is not a provider and rather a soul digger. 2) I always suspect the term those men call women "if she is a real woman, she will stay with you when you have nothing." BULL. Every biological woman is a real woman, just because they can not take advantage of the women, doesn't mean they aren't real lol. 3) I can tell you almost 99% of men never date for any "potential" in women. They date because their women have all the benefits they want at the current time. So, don't fall for potential thing in men because everyone has potential. What you see the potential in him, he may not see it nor work toward it. 4) Stay away from broke men or men always blame women, they are MGOTW whatever. Those type of guys will ask you to slit 5050 scam in everything and look for financial independent women but hate feminists and want traditional women for nothing. 5) When I was single, I'd stay away from any man having a messy family or crazy family members that he was living with or be super closed to. Because if you marry one, your life would be hell. That was what I thought so I tried to detach myself from a man I started to like a little. It's maybe not fair in your book, but I'm not looking for drama so that was just me. Remember, a married woman doesn't just please a husband but also his family members, too.

And we've also expressed our concern that he thinks he deserves that kind of treatment. He admits that he thinks he deserves the bad treatment and that's why he attracted her. We've expressed the fact that she treats him like his mother treated him (alcoholic) and that he may be addicted to this type of treatment (dopamine hits). He says that he will probably addict to every girl he dates. My question is, what do you do when the person is fully aware of what they are doing but still do it anyway and it's hurting them? I'm concerned that he will get his heart trampled on and try to harm himself.

First, don’t force him to do anything or give him advice to do anything, their ego will not let you in. His body and mind thinks that this is love and it is normal and safe for him to be in that relationship. That has become his comfort zone. Now, the only thing that you could do is boost his self esteem that he worthy of being loved and respect too. Taking him to a therapist would be much better. This is just how people who are in love treat each other, and unlike what other commenters think, no person is going to provide for nothing in return. Idolizing this as a relationship standard is how women end up abused because they aren’t making sure they have their own before finding a partner who will provide for them. Just look at trad-wives.

I’m honestly so grateful to be bisexual. After my divorce I was so traumatized and afraid of men, I just couldn’t date them at all or even really be friends with new men. So I focused on myself and my healing, then after a few years I just started dating other genders. I’m so much happier surrounded by women and queer people. Being friends with so many queer men also helped heal a lot of that trauma and fear of men. I’m open to dating men but only if they’re queer too. Of course queer dating can be toxic too, but my experiences have been overwhelmingly positive, whereas being with cishet men was an overwhelmingly negative experience even before my marriage. Women and queer people are typically so much more loving, empathic, caring, good at communicating, love serving others, more in tune with their emotions, open to therapy, etc. Regardless, I refuse to settle for less than I deserve bc some queer folks can be ain’t sh*t too 😂

(Being a NoNuance Nelly and commenting w/o finishing the vid yet) a HUGE problem for women who do want to marry and have a family is that now after accomplishing more than previous generations of women in terms of education, earnings and career, there's an expectation that men will rise from previous gens of men to meet women in terms of emotional and domestic support.....But they generally haven't. It's clear to see how this makes relationship to men a lot less attractive. And it's very harmful to women - for example - women who go into starting a family with a man under the impression that they are "life partners" and care deeply about the mental, physical and spiritual health of each other, then the woman is put in the vulnerable position of being pregnant and a new mom to a baby and often men fall really short in their expected role of deep care for the new mom. And since all new moms NEED deep care, and it's assumed she will get it from her husband instead of other women/family/"the village", she's isolated and in a way kicked when she's down. This hurts the kid to, so of course the loving feeling she had for him is damaged after he chooses selfishness in a time where he should be selfless.....We need more PSAs to women, such as "If he abandoned his other kid/s, he WILL abandon yours too!" A BIG problem when you get down to it is women assuming the men they're with are as compassionate, caring and loving as they are. I still think men can be those things, but it's often much less and more fickle than women, and even for the best men it's still different. To realize this helps women accept higher standards and more help from men, since how they love and help us is different (and more fickle). The big sister advice I needed was that only entertain good men (because him being cute and fun simply isn't enough of a benefit given the risks) and even the best men are different than you - they think, care and love differently and it benefits everyone - including them! - to be useful, striving and helpful (especially in terms of them working hard and being financially generous!). They don't burn out as easily as we do and they flounder without work and a selfless purpose - so LET them (don't make them) and support others!

The “empathy gap”.. yes unfortunately it’s a cliché for a reason.. we need to stop justifying them.. if they don’t know how to be caring, help around the house, and share the burden of raising kids then don’t even start a relationship with type of men, we need to get better at recognizing their lack of empathy and responsibility.. money isn’t enough (especially when you make your own)

I’m aware that I have to get a membership before getting direct messages but I thought it’d be such a beautiful idea to discuss not only discernment for the type of people we bring into our lives but the discernment to introspect and becoming the person that enables the lives we wish for; if there’s anyone here that can push this suggestion that’d be nice 🥹 I recently got into an argument fully convinced the other person was in the wrong (he was but besides the point) it could’ve been handled in a different way if I communicated my thoughts more frankly without fear of confrontation which made me realize that sometimes I really have to check myself because the road to hell could really be paved by virtue lol

Oh honey.. did you skip corporate America? In my corporation women make 30% less on average for similar roles. We have very few women leading teams. Maybe one or 2 As opposed to 20+ males. It’s a global corp.

They're talking about beginning stages. Those men get into high corporate positions *later* on in their careers. Women get better starts, but then give up their momentum due to family responsibilities that are disproportionately placed on us, rather than men.

@@anonymouscausewhynotaccurate. I wish more women would choose career over children. We have a massive female brain drain everywhere in the world when this happens. And it hurts everyone. And more women need to start businesses and hire/train women to accelerate female economic empowerment.

@@user-if9fm2nz4q it is quite terrifying what’s happening on the right at this moment. Statistically proven that when women are economically empowered it is better for a community overall. The right is not about community benefit. It is about power and domination over women and children. Make it make sense. There is enough for everyone. But men* just want to have free labor forever.

I noticed a pattern in my life. I have motivation, goals, plans, I'm inspired, creative, I have a schedule, a general idea of a few years ahead. I'll be eating healthy, working out, doing the best I can in everything and reaping the rewards. And then alongggg comes a spider, a new friend always Christian, always. She'll see I'm single, that's a problem. It'll start small maybe my hair, maybe something about the way I look or talk, dress, the way I talk or interact with people. They just creep on in, and I'm a strong person and it's not weeks, it's months, years. They'll try to get me to date "good" guys and talk down one's I actually like (I am very resistant to this and haven't dated any of these forced men, luckily). One day I'll wake up depressed, I don't feel myself, my plans are lost, I feel self-conscious and like a failure and these friends will be sitting there telling me how capable I am, what happened, "you can do anything". I attract the worst possible friends who feed off me to benefit their own lives. They will be building their lives and homes from the bricks they stole from mine. Run, the ick warned me this time, and I feel like I cracked a code!

Sorry that you have had this experience, as a Christian girl myself, theres nothing wrong with being single, and you should get to choose who you date/how you are, some people are Christians in name only and/or need to become better Christians. Just focus on yourself and get some help if needed, I am rooting for you ❤❤❤

The gatekeeping of status symbols is interesting to me. A former coworker tormented the whole workplace with her relationship. Lording her man over everyone, with nonstop bragging and PDA. Acting like she was so ABOVE everyone there who was single and trying to rub their faces in it. Imagining others were jealous to make herself feel better. If she noticed anyone around her having chemistry with someone, she would say something to spoil it. She had her status symbol and didn't want anyone else to have it or something like it. Her man was good to her, but she treated him terribly. I'm all for princess treatment. But when the reward for princess treatment is abuse, it's more like slavery.

These videos have been so inspirational to me I told my therapist. It's really waking me up to the brainwashing of toxic , jealous friends and jealous loser men that secretly hate women and blame them for all of their problems. It solidified the need for me to walk away permanently from left/ right modern standards for women.

I mean. There are cats but they can only live and give so much. We have desires too! Why aren’t you worthy of a healthy relationship that might result in an entire family? (Keep the cats away if you’re planning to have kids- they literally have a parasite that in rats makes them walk right up to cats and in people is known to cause miscarriages. Who knows what else.. but the crazy cat lady is likely an evolutionary advantage by and for cats!)

True, it's giving consumerism sugar baby romanticization. The "spoiled princess" stuff is showing off for social media by privileged people wanting to create some perfect aesthetic. Obligatory mention of the current economy for young people. Know your value obviously but this stuff seems to promote dating guys with money who can buy stuff when that's the least of women's worries. And these are the same women who end up in abusive relationships and feel they have to stay just because their quality of life is so good and they get pampered sometimes, making it harder to leave.

It's okay to want to be single and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that but some people want love so why not use it to your advantage?

My boyfriend is so nice to me and he says nice things and he is consistent with his generosity. Almost no red flag except that sometimes he says harsh things because he is used to being in a boy group. He almost has no girl friends and though he loves his mom and sis, he is not a mamas boy. I am only afraid of the test he took where he has a low eq score but he seems so nice. I am so scared actually

Maybe try communicating to him about it? Instead of excusing his behaviour which would potentially enable more of that kind of behaviour. Communicate non judgmentally, and if hes willing to grow and change thats great! If he doesnt then say you cant continue a relationship where he would do that kind of things to you.

A point of confusion: It sounded like this argument was being prefaced by the fact that there are statistically less economically viable long term male partners than there were previously. (Speaking within the confines of heterosexual relationships) Yet with this, it's expected that a given male partners ability to financially provide for their partners is supposed to scale up and "trickle down" to the masses? How is this the case, don't these points completely contradict?
