The Drone shots really add to your videos, well done for taking the extra time to add them because they really make 'the show' Seeing all the features in these small outback towns is a great addition too.
The Moose guard thats what thay call them here in the States. Sure save your rig from being severely damaged. I do enjoy the different places of interest that you show in the video. Very Pretty.
Your filming of interesting points is spot on, as always. So nice to hear a manual gear change, that's part of what makes truckers professional drivers 😉. Keep 'em coming, can't get enough of your country. Drive safe 👍🇬🇧
@@RoadTrainAdventures hi, no, sadly I have arthritis in my back and hips 🙄, which put an end to over 20 years driving artics. But it is great to see someone the same age as me still working, and working so hard too! Keep on trucking my friend 👍
hi Johno watching your movies from Scotland i used to be a truck driver retired now thank goodness, love looking at the scenery as your travelling about ,dont like that big wobbly stick in the middle of your cab what a hard day out you have,my last truck was a Scania V8 with an auto box absolutely lovely when siiting at 75 tonskeep her lit Johno
Thanks Robert. I actually hate automobile great boxes with a passion. If I ever have to drive one I put it straight into manual. They are dangerous and cannot correctly pick the right gear going up and down hills.
Good day to you. What a fantastic show you have. What a beautiful country you live in. How about you showing us abit more of some of the towns that you ride through
Nice video again. Brings back memories of the times I worked at various places around this area (Townsville, Ingham, Caldwell, Innisfail & Cairns) as a young lad. Some of the most scenic coastal drives in Australia.
Hi Johnno 👋. Another great video bar the 1 incident. No one wants that feel in the stomach. I come from the home of the horses here in Ireland 🇮🇪 and I have worked with them. Seen accidents happen happen to them a few times on the road and the race track. Wouldn't go back there. Stick to the truck 🚚 Drove goldcoast to cairns once. Found if you take in some of the fabulous views that nature and God has provided. It makes the job a hell of a lot easier. Keep it safe out there, and if you can supply sunsets and sun rises of your beautiful country and ocean views. Or night sky , night views of cities in the distance.
I have watched a few of your videos of late Johno and am enjoying learning about trucking in Oz. I have been in transport for 38 years now as a driver all over Europe and as a transport planner, but I am driving in Ireland now running refrigerated trailers carrying mostly pharma. Anyway, I have now subscribed to your channel and will be checking out your older videos. Kindest regards from Ireland. 🇦🇺 🇮🇪
Just watched the video and I must say you go all over the place and you must have great experience now with the drone and I would like to meet you one day.
Thanks Mark. Well you know what truck I drive. It's getting around all over Australia is a great experience hence the reason I decided to try and share the experience with your all.
Goodday Johno, Great video, has your company got a depot up in Townsville I was wonder how you got a hold of a B Double set of trailers. Those drone shot are just amazing & it is great to see so many comments on your channel. Called you up on Channel 40 yesterday on the Monash spoke to your company driver who also drives a 909. Had a laugh when I mentioned you & RU-vid he will pass on my greetings to you. How is the rebuild settling in, loosen up abit now ? Safe travels are you planning to catch up with Tez ? Safe travels Cheers Louis 👍🙂🇦🇺
Great video! Such beautiful country up north, probably felt like you were on a holiday. Shame to see what happened with the horse, how'd you go cleaning that up?
G'day driver. Have been past there a few times myself. Just west of flying doc's is a small parking bay for cars to take photos from. One of the best for photos of cliffs. Parking for 2 dozen big ones at Airstrip.
Hey Johno, though that was your truck in Dimbulah (should have taken more notice). A few years back an old local lost his life after hitting a cow about where you hit that horse, pulling triple side tippers. Just on dusk going back to camp after his shift. Glad to see you and your truck faired ok.
Thanks David. Yeah hitting a cow is so much worse. I've never hit one. If you ever seem me then do say hello. We have a number of other trucks that go through there so now that I've left the areas I'm not sure when I'll be back.
Thanks heaps. Yes maybe I've missed my calling. It's a great job getting to travel all over Australia which what game me the idea of making these visits. To show everyone the sites of Australia most people wouldn't get to see.
My idea for your next video would be to show us cars overtaking you. I have been overtaking road trains in my little manual red 2020 Corolla for 3 years while travelling around Australia. I find overtaking road trains easy when there's plenty of broken white lines and I use my gears to help me drive past them. I have always wondered if there were any driving habits that road train drivers hate when being overtaken by car drivers. 🚙 🚛
No. Just overtake. As long as you come around us fast enough. Some people worry that a cop may get you for speeding if you overtake over the speed limit.
If I’d hit a horse I wouldn’t been able to show it also from all the cursing I would have been doing 😂😂😂😂 … great videos I need to get to queensland one day
Great videos really enjoy them thank you. Are there many European trucks towing road trains around? What would the most popular prime mover be in Aussie?
Howdy. There are lots of European trucks doing rust trains. I'm not sure watch truck is in front. It's definitely easy there are more big bonnet Kenworth in the real outback.
The variety is pretty good with the firm you work for. You get all over the place. You see a lot of truck drivers doing fixed routes week in week out. That would do your head in.
Thanks Dave. Yes doing the same run every day if ne looking to end it all ha ha. That's what I love about this company. Just about entry trip is something different.
Hey Johnno you up our way , passing thru Tolga on the beautiful Atherton Tablelands and we were in Aotearoa (New Zealand ) for a wedding. Have you got a contract with Tourism Queensland showing off the stunning beauty of North Queensland. Thanks for the video mate 👍
Another great video. Bummer about the horse but worse things happen at sea as they say... (although hitting a seahorse would do less damage) - Dad Joke Alert!
Yeah I usually plan on something like homing up but most times I'm honing up in a place with many other trucks where I'd be in the way. You see, when I make this video I want to use distant camera angles plus using the drone from above.
So green full of woods super, one more very nice movie, I like very much the "tourist places" view. Do you use gps for the way or each road is in your memory. One thing it is interesting to see the prices for food and beverages. Thank you and a safe trip
Thanks Johno I'm semi retired but still do 2 Nhill change overs a week nothing as breath taking scenery as you find ,it's a hard job to quit driving isn't it ,but I enjoy your trips and the homeless Truckie at Lindsays Cheers Kym Adelaide
Thanks Kym. Keen and I talk all the time. His videos are really good too. We talk about ideas for making our videos better. Checkout Tez the Truckie channel too. Is great that you still love your job. Doing a change over one a week certainly wouldn't put too much pressure on your retirement. Great stuff.
G'day mate. Flying doctor airstrip 110 ks East of SA. WA. border. Western end of big parking bay great place for drone footage. 150 metres walk to cliffs. PS. Don't walk straight up to edge. Happy travelling
At last roads I have driven on some 50 yrs ago. Road to Chillagoe was a rutted bull dust track but we made it through with only one puncture and no tyre available there. Special place with lots of minerals, limestone caves and marble.
Great shots as always on your channel. I travel that Bruce death trap once a month from the Gold Coast and am constantly amazed at the number of accidents or close calls I see on it each and every time, but the scenery is breathtaking between Townsville and Cairns (Rocky to Mackay is a an arid wasteland). Never fun hitting any animal, but a horse especially so. Curious to know, did it leave much damage? Thanks again for sharing your trip with us.
Hi Johno, the roads look better than I remember from 30+ years ago. It is annoying having the odd car doing 95 out front, but they think you are speeding because their speedo reads 100. Cheers, great work.
Enjoyed your video, thank you! Shame about the horse, but not much you could do. I like the footage of you checking out the sights, all part of the trip and interesting. Does your drone track the base station in the truck? Great drone footage.
By getting comments from viewers you run the risk of your channel looking like others. I would prefer that you use your own creativity so that you are different and your channel is a reflection of you and not others. Be yourself, be different, be original. You are doing a great job and I find your videos very entertaining.
Thanks Chris. I was asking for ideas of stories because I'm not very creative. I have the technical aptitude to do stuff that people ask but I'm not good at coming up with ideas.
Oh boy,a horse . Wouldn't be a pretty site . Oh well being on your own in the dark, If it was me id carry On. Question; when you get a flat tyre ,do you change the puncher. Or do you call for roadside service
@Road Train Adventures thank you. I expect it would be a bummer during the day in the heat and rain, even at night. Be a bit of a challenge. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen too often.
We used to mind the grandkids in Townsville and always the same when I said “what do you want to do today kids?” So yet another trip to the Frosty Mango it was…
I guess the bumper did It’s job. I hit a moose on the Cassiar highway in Northern British Columbia at 60 mph and probably had the same expression. I always hated when an animal ran out and I was totally helpless in avoiding it. Beautiful country.
When I get the right load for tarping and the area is on I will do that. Most places I don't have time and I just need to tap and get out of their company because there are other trucks waiting behind me.
Was meaning Here we are three trailers at 79t all up. Just a small sentence per vid We can then get more context about the terrain when you droppi.g down the gears on those hills
I've got several. I used to Sygic Truck gps which is an app for your phone or tablet but I mostly use Google now. Yes google will direct you straight into a bridge but you can manually look at the route before you take it. Sygic won't take you on any road that you're not speed to be on or under a low bridge.
I have used Garmin's since around 1997, but people make the mistake of not setting them on Fastest route instead of shortest, shortest will put you out in forests, suburban streets etc.
there is always one car that cant do the limit ,maybe they dont want to , they dont have to its the limit not a requirement , its a maximum . there is always a truck that slows way down on the up hills .
Thanks for the trip mate 👍 How do you avoid ruining your whole career doing these videos? According to that DH narrator on OB Truckers, your careers could be in jeopardy if ya 30min late. 🤔
I'll have to look up this CB Trucker. How do I find this channel. In this company, we get there when we get there. Just about all our freight is not urgent. Plus if I stop for a few hours, I can make it up by driving later that day.
@@RoadTrainAdventures Nah! Outback truckers on TV mate. The DHead narrator keeps saying their reputation is on the line if their a bit late delivering.
