The Roadtrip to Africa. Part 2 of 3: Mauritania
In December 2018, I bought my first car in Amsterdam. A little Opel Combo which would be our home for the next 4 months as we descended towards West Africa. Crossing through the Sahara you pass through a relatively unknown country called Mauritania. A country with the most welcoming people I have ever met home to the worlds longest train. The Mauritanian Railway also known as "Sahara Freight" is an iron ore train linking the port of Nouadhibou to Zouérate. I remember the Moroccans telling me; Why would you go to Mauritania? There's nothing to see but sand there! On the contrary I hope this video can shed some light on the beauty of these people and change the image of their country for the better.

@@feelmyjulian You should be really proud of this series! I can imagine it has been hard work with the editing, they are perfect as they are and I will rewatch them now and then. Well just a big thanks for making these and being the way you are and meeting other humble people in west africa! With that in combination with those drone clips with good flying skill and pans to also get so many good views of the landscape superb. Thx for making! Hope you can show this 3 series at some event in the town where you from, I think it would be very welcome!

Love your content! Im planing a trip to Mauritania this summer. (Im Norwegian) I have a few questions and I would really appreciate the help . Im thinking about staying for 17 days. My flight is landing in Nouakchott. Then Im going to Nouadhibou to see the ship graveyard. And then taking the orb train from Nouadhibou to Choum. Then I will travel back to Nouakchott to chatch my flight home. Im sure I will find other things to do, but thats the main marks on my checklist. Is Mauritania expensive? What is the easiest way of getting around? Is it easy to get into the desert? is the shipswrecks still there? And can you still take the orb train?:)
@feelmyjulian
@feelmyjulian 3 года назад
Hey I was there 2 years ago so things might be different now. But the ship graveyard is gone since 2017 ish. The train should still be easy to ride as it passes 2-3 times a day in Nouadhibou:) There are roads everywhere so it's easy to cross from north to south in the desert. I wish you the best!
@Porsiba

As a Moroccan, i do not like the fact that you mentioned Western Sahara as if it was a separate country from Morocco. But its fine, you do your thing. Hope you enjoyed your time in Morocco anyway.
@feelmyjulian
@feelmyjulian 3 года назад
the united nations consider it to be a non-self-governing territory and on google maps they show it to be independent from morocco so that is why. But it's hard to please everyone, sorry if it offended you
