Musical Directors Greg Arrowsmith and Charlie Ingles talk to Headliner about moving the 50-year-old Rocky Horror Show forward while staying true to its roots.
Audience expectations have changed over the last half a century, especially from an audio perspective. Thanks to the brand new KORG Nautilus, the show (which is currently running at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry) can now boast multiple pianos sounds, allowing for more authenticity.
As Arrowsmith states in the interview, a rock n' roll piano shouldn't sound like a honky tonk piano, or a Steinway concert piano like an upright piano, for example.
The Nautilus software makes it easier than ever to switch from patch to patch. Where previously they had one single generic piano sound, the show can now seamlessly switch to the most appropriate piano type with ease, and without compromising on sound quality.
