I challenged myself into making a piece of music with just the Roland JU-06 (which is basically a mini Juno 106) and my drum samples. I sent the JU-06 through the pedalboard I use for my guitar playing which made it really easy to get good sounds and to get inspired.

You will! I already have a few pieces written that would be cool to do with The North but those videos really cost a lot of time to make and both me and Willem have a busy schedule as session musicians.

Very good demo, there is piece at the beginning (prominent back ground sound approx 0.22 through 0.52, voice, choir, chorus sound???) which I cannot get out of my head. Is this sound featured in your video notes or how did you go about this patch? I do like this demo, well done.

Thanks! 1. Just press and hold the patch number you want to save it to. Select the right bank first. 2. I think the info on screen is pretty self explanatory. Fiddle around with the envelope settings until it sounds right and maybe refer to the manual on how to get the portamento thing going. It's a combination of buttons and then using the ribbons to set it up. I look it up every time I want to do that as well:)

Amazing! Is it all recorded on ableton? Drums too? It sounds great and very unique. I have live 9 lite, I'm kind of standoffish to get a big project started when I don't know if I'm going to be limited right away by the software

Everything is recorded in Ableton, but I do have the Standard version. I'm not sure what the limitations of the Light version are.

The Ableton website says 16; that's not much, but it's not impossible. You can always bounce some tracks your confident about together and then save the project under a different name (like v2, v3, etc) so you can always go back to change something.

Evert, do you ever get hired as a session player because you can do all this other stuff, or is it just because you are a fantastic guitar player?

Not really, although I did a project for a while where I also played bass and synth on a couple of songs and I sometimes play the mandolin on stage. I'm mostly hired as the "electric guitar specialist" in the band which is my favorite role anyway so that's fine.

This is not a true analog keyboard though then... if you saved the sounds and there playing from computer? Analog guitar pedals... but synth engine is digital?

It's a digital keyboard for sure. Although you can save presets on most analog polysynths as well I believe. The sounds are not playing from the computer, only the arpeggiator is.
