Soldiers from the 32nd Infantry Brigade train with the Squad Designated Marksman Rifle (SDM-R) at Fort McCoy, Wis. The SDM-R is an American sniper rifle used by the United States Army. It is essentially a heavily modified M16 rifle designed to provide US Army snipers with greater accuracy and firepower at longer ranges, increasing the effective range of infantry troops to 600 meters.
