British Columbia has 100 wildfires burning, with 90 active holdover fires from last year, according to BC Wildfire Service.
Firefighters face brutal environments, dense smoke, and rugged terrain, all of which contribute to a high risk of heat-related illnesses. The physical toll of manually hauling heavy hoses and pumps to the front lines is immense.
