The Role of International Law in Conflict Prevention (Prof. Patrícia Galvão Teles) 

In the last lecture of the joint course “Peace and Conflict at Global Level: Contemporary Issues,” Prof. Patrícia Galvão Teles spoke about “The Role of International Law in Conflict Prevention.” She gave us an overview of two current debates on climate change and peace prevention. Prof. Patrícia Galvão Teles is currently a member of the United Nations International Law Commission (ILC), Professor of International Law at the Autonomous University of Lisbon and Senior Legal Consultant on International Law at the Legal Department of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The joint course “Peace and Conflict at Global Level: Contemporary Issues” focuses on the contemporary tools of conflict management, resolution and transformation used to promote peace, discussing concrete cases and different perspectives from around the world.
More than 30 students from different countries are participating in the course. It is organized by Glaucia Peres da Silva and Alhassan Tahiru (Global Awareness Education/TRACS, University of Tübingen, Germany) in partnership with Prof. Gilberto M. A. Rodrigues (Federal University of ABC, Brazil), and offered in the framework of the CIVIs micro-programme Global Awareness.
