Music video by The Rolling Stones performing "Salt Of The Earth".
Directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg
Produced by Sandy Lieberson
The Rolling Stones performing “Salt Of The Earth” from The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus.
Recorded before a live audience in London in 1968, The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus was originally conceived as a BBC-TV special. Directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, it centers on the original line up of The Rolling Stones -- Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman (with Nicky Hopkins and Rocky Dijon) -- who serve as both the show’s hosts and featured attraction. For the first time in front of an audience, “The World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band” performs six Stones classics. The program also includes extraordinary performances by The Who, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, Yoko Ono, and The Dirty Mac. A ‘supergroup’ before the term had even been coined, the band was comprised of Eric Clapton (lead guitar), Keith Richards (bass), Mitch Mitchell of The Jimi Hendrix Experience (drums) and John Lennon on guitar and vocals.
The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus is one of the first concert films to be mixed using Dolby Atmos Technology and Dolby Vision. ABKCO Films has produced a breathtaking experience that faithfully re-creates the actual environment in which this historic event took place using invocative technology that treats sound as 3D spatial information. It can be said that what Dolby Atmos does for sound, Dolby Vision does for visuals. Dolby Vision is an advanced HDR technology that delivers enhanced contrast, detail and dimensionality to the screen by empowering every pixel with a much broader range of color and brightness.

Yeah although ironic it kind of masks some of the tension that underlies this performance. They didn't even let it go to air because mick was displeased with it. And Brian was on his way out and, this was his last show before he was dumped from the band. If you read some books from people who attended the show, as lovely as this song is that was definitely some tension underneath.

@@a_bored_english_guy Yes, but when they experiment beyond the blues, it's always good. Example, Time Waits for No One isn't a blues song but most would consider it great. Or Sweet Virginia. That is what makes it very difficult to achieve...I wish there was a new band out there that WOULD NOT COPY THEM....but had the same raw talent for the next 50 years....and we could see where that would go...However...once-in-lifetime or maybe even millennium...who knows..

Other than looking a little stoned at the beginning (like most of the others who were there that night were), for the rest of this performance, he's smiling and sometimes laughing. He also played a great slide guitar at this show earlier that night, too. He may have been near the end of his life when this event took place, and he did have a drug problem then, too, but the talk here about Brian on that December '68 night, does not fit what others claim they are seeing. Many of us think he had a great show that night, indeed, at least to what we see in the documentary/movie, and that's all that really matters).

Everything in this show was wrong - costumes, choreography, stage. Everything but one thing. The music. The music was cosmic.

Honestly, I think Marianne’s just being shy and trying to stay out of sight. She was very nervous about the show and was, admittedly, stoned out of her mind.

"Salt of the earth" It shows that the people who follow the Lord are irreplaceable. It means that the activity of sweating and working is a precious person, and it is like salt that prevents corruption in the world. Even if it's wrong, it's not a person or a powerful person who moves the world.
