@@billy28 The Stones were originally a R&B/Blues band. When their music became popular they were a 'pop group,' I am 76 and saw them live at several venues around London in the early days.
The 1965 Ireland concert is the best Stones I've ever heard in terms of sound quality, heaviness, and adrenalin!!! "The Last Time" is one of their all time best!!!
agreed. the sound on that Ireland gig is perfect. I think I saw, its been synced from better recordings, but not sure and dont see how it could be given the improvisation you see. But whatever, its perfect, their best live show around.
TV and video guys did that all the time - all they knew was show some faces, mostly the singer. DIdn't even occur to them we'd like to see the guitars and guitar chords. In the 60s they would also zoom in and out and make you dizzy...wasn't till the 1970s that anyone got the idea of Showing the Band! Just show the band! I saw them live, and you can bet everyone got a good look at Brian! He often covered more of the stage than Mick in those days (while playing perfectly) and drove the girls nuts...
@@CharlieMessingyep, I've seen film of old gigs & the camera is on the singer during a guitar solo ! PS yes the zoomy camera thing is stupid . I think they thought it was sometype of cool novelty , in reality it was just a cheap vomit inducing annoyance

@@annmcdonald6180 Put it this way--I liked (and still do) his talent and the way he gave a great show until he was pushed over to stand near Bill. Let's just say I had my fun and have memories to last a lifetime. The older one gets, the more these memories mean so very much. Brian was fantastic at the T.A.M.I. show as well.

Charlie Watts visited my middle school in the 90s in the hood. I remembered not knowing who it was not even after he said he played for The Rolling Stones. We were all too young to know. I tried looking this up but there's no record of it. Thank you, sir. Sorry for not knowing I was in the presence of a rock icon 🙏
One of the few live performances of "The Last Time" actually played at the proper tempo. Brian's riff is clear and distinct throughout the performance. Not that easy of a lick to play properly either and he performs it perfectly each time. The climax is the shot of Brian with his mouth wide open with a look that shows he's totally in the zone and having a great time. No Jones No Stones

This is great. I love to see the Rolling Stones on a small stage, no enormous props and add ons. Just r & b in early English rock fashion. I like seeing and hearing Jagger singing and dancing in a more controlled atmosphere. Today he runs around the stage like a squirrel on speed.

Devastating news ths morning, as the radio guy said" it's a sad day as we remember Charlie Watts the Drummer of the Rolling Stones who has passed away overnight aged 80 " Charlie was a very talented Drummer, in a class of his own. One of the best and greatest Drummers. He was a very clever Graphic Artist as well. Charlie was a man of dignity and integrity. Faithful to his wife of 57 years, he never strayed. Apart from all of thiis, the best action he ever took was to punch Jagger in the face. " I'm not your Drummer boy, I'm The Rolling Stone's Drummer " Good onya Charlie!!
Killer performance by the Stones. The attack is awesome- so much better than some of the other live performances I've seen where the sound wasn't balanced properly

@@Gollas4k LOL Charlie is often overlooked. He's in a class of his own IMO and has served the Stones well since his first day with them. They were lucky to convince him to join.

I consider him one of the greats among the classic rock drummers... he has one big thing in common with ringo starr in my opinion, they both may not have the technical finesse of for example john bonham but they have a very distinctive style that not only always serves the song but also is easily recognizable after listening for just a few seconds
@@Gollas4k Charlie seems to be in a class by himself. I think his love of jazz plays a part in it. He often does not appear on "best drummer" lists because IMO he is so unique. Honestly can't think of anyone else who could replace him. Apparently Mick doesn't either. Even after Charlie leveled Mick once with a right hook he wasn't even reprimanded. The Stones know he was and is the perfect drummer for them. Bonham was amazing. I'm still blown away by his drumming when I listen to him. He was a theatrical drummer, like Keith Moon.
Kudos to the people running the cameras recording this concert. Equal air time given to each band member, not just giving us the Mick Jagger show. Nice to see Bill and Charlie working hard at keeping the rhythm. One of the best live recordings of a Stones' performance on youtube.
Yes these shows are typically butchered by the camera and sound guys... this one came off very well. Turn up the amps to drown out that annoying screeching from the girls.
This is truly rock 'n roll at its finest. The kids screaming and jumping up and down prove that. If I had been in the audience, I would've gone wild too!!!
They couldn't be beaten live on stage. No competition at that time. Even the Beatles couldn't top these live performances. Unmatched with a Brian Jones in top form .. yeh long live the stones ...
The Beatles did top these performances. They were tighter with better vocals. Listen to the Hollywood Bowl live record. However, the Stones were a great live band, no question.

But I also like the Rolling Stones, especially the time when Brian Jones was there. I am a Beatles and Rolling Stones fan.
@@maxsugar6394 No disagreement from me. I am a fan of both. I ONLY objected to the other guy who said the Stones were the best live group at that time. I loved the early Rolling Stones. Great band. However, NOBODY could touch the Beatles on record or live.
You can feel the excitement and tension as they are getting ready to start the show. Then Brian lets loose with the opening licks of Last Time. Mick,with back to the audience, breaks into dance at the opening notes from Brian's guitar and nearly backs through the curtain dancing his way out to center stage. I always loved this song and the way they start it up is so exciting. Brian was a great Rollin Stone. He had a big impact on their early sound. Fantastic stuff.

Habe den Song als 13Jähriger zum ersten Mal gehört, und zwar aus einem Kofferradio in Nachbars Garten. Ich kannte bis dato die Rolling Stones überhaupt nicht. Danach war für mich nichts mehr so, wie es vorher war. So sehr hat mich dieser Song damals angefixt.. bis auf den heutigen Tag.

What a great creative time the '60'were. Every top band in England was churning out songs that are still great to this day. When you think that the Stones had this great tune and the great " It's all over now" but also plenty more to come like Ruby Tuesday, Let's Spend the Night Together" and Satisfaction, what a time it was.

The Stones made some classic albums after Brian died. But they were all of a narrow blues rock genre. What they lacked when Brian died was the colour he added to the records. The sitars, dulcimers, mellotrons and recorders he added to those classic mid 60s singles.
Yes! Brian was really something special as a musician; he could not help BUT make a good band BETTER, with more 'dimensions' to their music. SO sad he was murdered.
The Stones roster of this era was, and remains my ATF. Wyman, Jones, Jagger, Richards, Watts. Musically, they complimented each other so incredibly well. This song, and this video clearly evidence that. I have watched this video hundreds of times, never tiring of it.

The Rolling Stones' first Jagger/Richards "A" Side Single! I remember hearing this song for the first time in '65 on the radio and being haunted by the hypnotic Guitar riff. It's so mournful and bluesy. In this clip, Brian Jones is playing the riff on his Gibson Firebird and getting it on! I've sometimes wondered if Brian came up with that cool riff. No one has ever taken credit for it. Brian Jones was my favorite Stone! Growing up, I'd just marvel at Brian's charisma and magnetism on Rolling Stone album covers. Brian wore the coolest fashions from Carnaby Street! I always wanted to have hair like Jones. Brian was the coolest Stone! While performing on stage, as is evidenced in this clip, Brian Jones is strictly all business. A true professional! No one could ever replace BRIAN JONES! The Rolling Stones are burning in this clip!
