Incredible depiction of the Roman Conquest of Africa and the Fall of Carthage! The visuals and historical detail really bring this epic event to life. Well done!
Hasdrubal being ultimately spared by the Romans is unusual given his earlier actions but then again, given the fate of his family and the fact that Carthage fell on his watch, perhaps the Romans knew that living with that is far worse than death. Apparently Scipio witnessed the family's deaths and he began to weep for his enemy, then wondered if the fate of Carthage would one day be Rome's as well.
@@cinematicbattles559 Yes. He used the analogy of the legendary fall of Troy as reference. The fall of Carthage was definitely a turning point in Rome's history and the total destruction means we don't know what the Carthiginians call this and the prior wars with Rome.
Thanks for watching again bro, and Yes I do have to agree with you, I think they stood a far better chance if they hadn't surrendered all their weapons before the battle
@@cinematicbattles559 Hannibal is my favourite general. I know he lost in the end but that wasn't really down to him. His victroies over Rome were amazing. Your output really is brilliant. Love seeing battles that i could only imagine before 😀
I've read about this a number of times, but here this account has been brought to life before my eyes ! Thank you! You provided much more details about this Third Punic War than I've read. This visuals were though bloody , excellent !! Amazing at the size of the armies in the Republican era and the Empire at it's heyday. Quite a contrast to the 5th century. One thing I have a hard time understanding is why Rome destroyed Carthage and Corinth instead of simply repopulating them as colonies ? Everything was there to use ?! Thanks again for a GREAT presentation!!👍👍👍😊
Rome had been seeking the destruction of Carthage for centuries. This final chapter illustrates the extremely brave and heroic defiance of the Carthaginian public against an imperial power bent on their destruction, a very interesting chapter in ancient history. Excellent graphics! Thank You.
Amazing production and great narration. Well done. If I could make one change it would be to dispense with the smoke trails from non burning missiles such as arrows, javelins and Pila. For some reason it irks me to see them.
Man, this is something. Visual effects were sound. Everything was according to detail. I think of the fall of Carthage to the fall of Troy. The soldiers and the people fought with courage, but Roman might prevailed. I also think the fall of Carthage like what happened to Athens after its war with Sparta and it was subjugated by them. Stripped of its fleet and its walls torn down. Is this Scipio related to the Scipio that beat Hannibal in the Second war? Is Hasdrubal, the commander that surrendered to the Romans related to Hannibal?
Thanks a lot bro, the 2 Scipio's were related through adoption but not by blood and Hasdrubal the Boetharch was not part of the Barca family, the family to which Hannibal belonged.
Correction Civilized Humanity. Once humanity had leaders that could stay back in safety and order people to die, that is when the obliteration really got going. But, to your point. Everyday we walk by people who are capable of murder. It's so easy for people to give themselves permission to be jerks. Lack of will power.
Thanks for watching bro, this is Total War Attila with the ancient empires mod, I prefer using Total War Attila for the cinematic battles so I try and stick with it, there are plenty of great mods for it so i've not been restricted by it yet.
roman soldiers at this time period were still polybian maniple units, so would've been better to see hastati, principes and triarii instead of post imperial legionaries
Carthage isn't the whole continent of Africa, as your misleading title suggests. Carthage is in Northern Alkebulan (North Africa). Stretching historical truths: is the first sign of intellectual dishonesty. Telling the truth: is the first sign of integrity and soundness of character. Ancient Roma (Rome) never conquested Alkebulan.
@@pheebobobeanie7680 I meant this for viewers wise, a lot would fine the aesthetics of Imperial Romans more appealing than the early Republic So them picking Imperial armor is mainly for the wide array of viewers that focuses on entertainment and historical setting than the historical accuracy of troops
@@TheManThatLovesBurgurs but this is a historical battle channel. Not Netflix 🤣 plus I play Rome 2 all the time. Just play grand campaign and it looks great. Probably even better than imperial Rome, the colours of the early Roman army are mesmerising.
@@pheebobobeanie7680 sure the main point of this video is the battle with the visual representation but meh it is what it is It's entertainment and I got some useful info out of it The only ones that are bothered are the ones that want everything down to a T
