The Rose is one of my favorites. They are so good. An indy band at first, chaos and a fight with their company, and now releasing more beautiful music. It's been a ride. People say Woosung sings in cursive.

I found the Rose a couple of years ago, not long after I discovered Bts. I am Army first but there is a special place in my heart for the Rose. They have some incredible music. Helped heal my heart after the trauma of a marriage breakdown. Bts and The Rose are my 2 favourites.

They also have a new album out, "Dual". I was introduced to them when Woosung sang on Suga's song "Snooze" from the DDay album. You should listen to it. His part gives me goosebumps.
Same. Snooze is my favorite from D-Day; Yoongi's creation with Woosung, and Riyuchi Sakamoto. It's so special. I'm grateful that it introduced us to Woosung, and The Rose. They are amazing!
"Sorry" was The Rose's debut song and they debuted on 3 Aug 2017. Their road hasn't been easy, then 3 of their band members went for military service, while Woosung their leader and the guy whose voice tone you said reminded you of V went on to release his own solo material. Woosung and Dojoon (the guy on keyboards who also sings) both speak fluent English. Woosung was born in Korea, but has lived in California since he was a kid. Dojoon lived in New Zealand for like 5 years, I think. I first heard about The Rose, because Woosung featured in Suga's song "Snooze" with the late actor, pianist and Oscar-winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. It was Woosung's haunting vocals in "Snooze" that pushed me to find out more about him, that's when I came across The Rose. I listened to "Alive" and it caught my attention, but the songs that made me stay were "You're Beautiful" and Woosung's cover of the LANY song "ILYSB". I am now both ARMY and Black Rose (that's the fandom name for The Rose).
Sorry is their debut song. You should listen to some of their more recent stuff. I highly recommend Back to Me, Alive, or Sour. Also, I think their latest album is entirely in English. I haven’t listened to the whole thing yet but so far all the songs I have heard are in English. They are also touring in the U.S. right now. I have tickets to go see them next week.
The Rose came up as a recommendation once when I was listening to BTS and I couldn't be happier to discover another group. Woosung has such a unique voice. I would recommend listening to Snooze by AgustD (Suga), which Woosung features on. It is hauntingly good - one of my favourite songs off the D-Day album.
Spotify recommended it to me a year ago because I listened to their Melancholic Playlist and I listen to many Korean songs ! I loved 'Sorry' and 'She's in the rain ' right away! I subscribed immediately to their account. As I did for you a good time ago! 🫰🏼

I see people having the same reaction: “how come I didn’t know them yet?!” when they listen to first time, and it's funny, truly! They have this effect on us 😂 The guys debuted "Sorry" in 2017 and since then they've had a slow but gradual rise, and now the new album DUAL is on the Billboard charts. I'm really proud of The Rose guys. They deserve even more recognition! 🥰
The Rose just entered into Billboards Emerging Artist top 100 and the DUAL album is in the Top 200. The members are: Woosung (Sammy) the only Korean American in the group, on electric guitar and lead vocals; Dojoon (Leo) Main Vocalist, piano and acoustic guitar, Hajoon (Dylan) - Drums and sub vocals and Jaehyung (Jeff) - Base sub vocals. They write, produce and manager themselves. I get to see them in concert on Oct 24th here in Virginia. You might be able to see them on tour someplace near you.

He is so incredibly TALENTED at the drums, and its a shame that not many people seem to notice it too much 🥲🥲 You should react to Take Me Down live, Hajoonie in the last chorus is just incredible 😍 I have replayed that drums entry into the last chorus at least a billion times 🥹

The Rose is my favorite K Band , after BTS . I'm in love with their sound, Woosung's voice is incredible, and their precedent album, Heal, is truly a peace of art ! So having Woosung featuring in a Suga/Agust D song,"Snooze, was a dream come true, and with the beautiful piano of Mr Ryochi Sakamoto (witch make me fall in love for himself as an actor and for him as a composer in Furyo when I was a teenager) , it's a blessing ! SO glad you've dipped into The Rose - they are incredible. They are a true indie band - "Sorry" is their debut song, and they wound up having to sue their label and couldn't release anything for a couple of years, it was a mess. Then they set up their own label. They write and produce everything themselves. Woosung/Sammy (the main singer) grew up in LA. It's a heck of a story and their music just never misses. Congratulations on your own upcoming release!

You will not be disappointed if you dive a little deeper into this band! I'm ARMY as well, and if it wasn't for BTS I would not have found The Rose. I was lucky enough to see them last year in ATLANTA, IT was just amazing.
The Rose it’s one of the few bands not put together by an agency but composed by a group of friends that met while basking . Their concerts are out of this world . Woosung voice it’s WOW and in here the 4 of them are stars , not just 1 of them !

Woosung was raised in So California and did solo work while the other members fulfilled their military duties in Korea. His recent album, Moth is all in English. Check it out!

When Snooze dropped I cried happy tears. I promise I'm not a hot mess of emotions by default! Also, I was just dropping a comment under your Pied Piper reaction about how amazing it'd be to have a K-Pop appreciation event or just indie bands getting together who are also Army. Like City of Sound and The Rose. The Rose is also US based and independent!!! If you'd ever consider a band to collab with, I think The Rose and City of Sound could create something absolutely magical. You both have a distinct vibe, different but potentially well matched. Okay, now I'm rambling about some daydreams... Apologies, no pressure whatsoever! You might wish to check out some of The Rose's more recent songs in English, like Back To Me, Alive, or You're Beautiful or Phase Me by Woosung. Also, their live cover of LANY's I Love You So Bad is simple but iconic. To me their Korean song She's in The Rain will always be at the top of my list. Not many songs can match the impact of The Truth Untold, but She's In The Rain is definitely there... You'd need to prepare some tissues, tho. Same with Snooze. Baby and Red are more upbeat.

I’m army and a black rose and kind of agree with you about Woosung’s voice having a similar tone to Tae’s, although they’re also very different. I absolutely adore both of their voices. First time I ever heard of The Rose was on Suga's D-Day album recently. Woosung was on his beautiful song called, "Snooze". Please react to that one too. Also very emotional and beautiful. Love it. Woosung has a voice that is almost ethereal.

Found the rose through Suga’s song snooze. The rasp in Woo Sung’s voice and his inflection is so appealing. his cover of ILYSB ( love you so bad) is to die for. His Back To Me song is pretty popular. They just came out with another album, Alive and you’re beautiful are two great songs. But SOUR is my daughters favorite!!!! React to more of them. Sooo good!
I love the rose I saw them live in October and they didn't disappoint! I started crying when they performed she's in the rain this makes me tear up as well. Highly suggest she's in the rain if you haven't checked it out will have you in your feels as well.

Both this song, and a song by V were featured on the soundtrack for Itaewon Class, so it's awesome that you noticed the tone similarities. The whole show features songs with a similar tone and emotional range.

Im so glad you are reacting to The Rose. They are so talented i have been a fan for a long time. I remember when they had 30,000 followers. They have come such a long way. One of reasons i still listen to kpop. I only have 3 top bands and thats BTS, The Rose, Epik High. You should try Epik High they are so talented as well.
It's worth checking out some of their newer songs since they cover a wide variety of genres and have songs in full English as well. They were never very successful in Korea because of their slow-tempo music, poor marketing and management by their Korean label, and because they were a "band" instead of a boy group, but they've become extremely successful since becoming indie artists. They have 4 members; Woosung, Dojoon, Hajoon, and Jaehyeong. Woosung (lead vocals) is from LA and Dojoon (lead vocals) lived in New Zealand for 5 yrs so they speak fluent English. Hajoon (Drummer) and Jaehyeong (Bassist), on the other hand, have been working hard to learn in the last 2 yrs and can speak basic English. This allows them to make songs in both English and Korean, but most of their older tracks are fully Korean. Honestly, I think you'd like a lot of their newer stuff based on your comments about Hajoon's drum fills, especially "Sour", "Back to Me" and the end of "Alive".

I just got to see them live this past weekend. It was a really great concert, and they performed Sorry as well, which I was so happy about. Their new album, Dual, has been stuck in my head since it came out. It's so good, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on more of their songs. I definitely think they're right up your alley.

Just saw them in Fairfax, Va. Last night and the were amazing live ! They are all so full of musicality and fun personalities. Their fans , The Black Roses are so beautiful and supportive.
Ooh yes they're like a gentler, prettier Dashboard Confessional. Still get you in the feels but with a little less angst. Chris Carrabba and RM are still some of my favorite lyricists of all time. Thanks for pointing out the drum fills! I think I've heard this performance like a dozen times but never noticed it. Really highlights the importance of sound engineering for these performances and what a difference it can make! Also congrats on the new MV!!
Love The Rose, so happy to see you reacted to them! I see a lot of suggestions to react to Snooze (more rap-heavy but absolutely amazing and emotional) and I highly recommend. Lucy is another k band if you’re interested in listening to more live music (a bit softer though). Check out whatever you want!
