I would not want a birkin or a kelly, even if i was given one. The whole game/journey/astronomical cost of hermes is completely repulsive to me. I love many of The Row bags, but my dream bag would be a custom bag from an independant craftsperson that would allow me to choose every bit of it, from the design to the leathers and colors (inside and out) to the stitching to the hardware.......THAT is luxury to me, and that is what i would spend big $$$$ on
To me the Margaux is the better bag. It is in my opinion more user friendly and a big plus is you do not have to play that silly Hermes game or pay those crazy resale prices. I sold my Birkin because it was too heavy. I wear my Margaux a lot and would certainly consider another one in a different colour. Great video. Thank you.
I just bought the Margaux East West, in smooth Dark Chocolate, it was delivered just yesterday. I absolutely LOVE it, but I can't believe how much the Margaux varies in cost. There must have been a cost mark up since you bought your Marqaux, because I paid $7,457 (after taxes). The EW is a 17", and it is leather interior, so I know that marked it up a bit, but that's a huge jump in price. I do LOVE your red Birken. That close up shot of the Togo leather is just stunning.
Huge congrats!!! Adore the EW style and it's one of the few east-west styles that I would consider but I noticed that too the price was kind of steep after just getting this. The leather interior does make sense and its substantially larger. I will have to check if the 10 went up, but that's what it was last time I checked, although I wouldn't be surprised if they have a price increase soon. Thank you so much for letting me know about the size of the EW in terms of inches bc when they first released it online, it wasn't mentioned then. Thank you so much for watching❤
Thoroughly enjoyed this video and the breakdown of both bags! Very inspiring ❤ I’m hoping more people will watch this and stop giving the Margaux so much hate/negative opinions, because like you said, they speak so differently to different people!
Well stated! I had two Birkins, 25 and 30. The 30 was too big and also very heavy so I got the 25. I enjoyed the size but those handles were not user-friendly at all and there was no strap. I guess I’m more of a Kelly girl I did buy the Margot 10 and I love it, I think you’re correct that when paying $20,000 for a bag you feel the need to baby it which takes the joy out of using it.
The Row makes such beautiful bags and their leather is amazing too. Both are great I think but yes the Margaux is a great subtle bag to carry while the birkin can attract unwanted attention.
I just received my pebbled black Margaux 10. What a user friendly, beautiful bag. I will never spend the kind of money that I would have to pay to buy the Birkin. I have always preferred the look of the Kelly, but then again, no one will ever offer me one. The Margaux is lovely and I know that she will be timeless.
Totally! I think the Margaux feels more like the new Luggage for 2020s instead of "the New Birkin". I don't have a Luggage tote, but it would be a great comparison to see. I think the Margaux is lighter in weight and wider. Thank you for watching Thor❤
It’s not a niche style it is simply a classic style. Also the Louis Vuitton Speedy didn’t come rushing out of the stable in every colour iteration available. It took decades upon decades to move from just the classic monogram look to every version possible. Same with the Hermés Birkin Bag. Also, some would argue diversifying to satisfy everyone’s colour and taste cheapens and tarnishes the brand. Some brands don’t want over saturated, mass market audience appeal. I hope the Row sticks with it’s understated, classic, cool style with small quirky details/colour unique to them along the way and it will be guaranteed longevity for decades.
Thank you for sharing all this points ... Looking for a bag is a very complex journey, as I want it to be comfortable, practicable and aligned with my attitude. Now that I've watched your vidéo, I think that I'm going with the trifold Céline in white 😬 I know, there is nothing about it in your video, but I think that's confort me on my style and what I expect from a handbag.
I grew up loving Hermez, Kelly and I know the voice text put a Z on that so don’t fault me for that anyway, there was a time that there was an elegance to the brand but with so many influencers and TikTokers it’s just in my mind brought the brand downThe Row is exactly what somebody who wants to dress for themselves loves quality and not as interested and pleasing other people are showing their wealth
Exactly! The Row appeals to the customer that wants an overall understated look. Maybe Hermes back in the day, 30 years ago had the a similar appeal to wha the Row is now. Thank you so much for watching Lisa❤
Not so popular opinion but, Hermes milked the heck of that Jane Birkin story and the line,' it's not a bag,it's a Birkin'. Many are sucked into it but i have seen many reviews now, truthful imo, how impractical it is. The Margaux with it's longer strap is more user friendly. Ive read an article where Jane Birkin, don't like using the Birkin and she end up donating it. This is not popularly repeated and i wished I had screenshot that article.
The Birkin is leather lined, the Margaux unlined - suede interior. Leather lining > non leather lining. More difficult to construct and more expensive materials.
I could comment on many things from this video, but I will only say this... my favorite part of your presentation was the GIRL MATH reference (and the science girl screen overlay or whatever that's called) 🥰😂 Most of us can relate to the justification.
I enjoy your videos very much! I will never be in the market for a Birkin for a lot of reasons, and I really wish "Is the Margaux the next Birkin" wasn't a thing. I hope it goes away soon so I can continue to wear my Margaux in anonymity.
Yess!! I don't think anyone that actually owns the Margaux is going around saying this is the "next birkin". Is it exceptional in quality and have similar characteristics, yes. But it's not trying to be the next birkin. Thank you for watching❤️
Thank you for actually going into depth about why you think why the Margaux is not the next Birkin. Every influencer goes gives an iffy opinionated because they like the Birkin better explanation. I agree that the Margaux and The Row as a whole is a very niche audience, while Hermes tries to offer something to everybody for every single iteration of item. Another great video again!
Yes!! I think the Row is such a niche style/customer base and people buy these bags for entirely different reasons. Thank you so much for watching Isaac❤
