I was born in 1974 so I am not old enough to remember Edward VIII. I usually associate him with pre-World War II, and black and white images, so it is always strange for me to see images of him in colour.

Edward, to me is synonymous with the era of the 1930's or wartime Britain, a period in which he appears in many black and white still images and footage, obviously. That is how I mentally associate him. When he is seen here in the 1960's, it feels much closer to current times (even though it was sixty years ago now) and so he seems 'out of place' to me. It's like seeing somebody from the distant past in more modern times. That's all. Reply
I feel sympathy for the Windsors, especially Wallis, no saints , by any means, but not the villains they have been made out to be.
