The Royal Hospital Liverpool, Demolition update 4th April 2024 

Thank you Paul for the update. Amazing video footage! keep us posted with it the hospital is getting smaller each day now. Shame to see it go but it does look tired looking and has done its part!

wow! it was only finished in 1978!!! I do feel old... The construction was plagued from the outset by problems of cost, time and quality, together with difficulties over fire certification due to changes in health and safety law whilst building work was ongoing. The second phase was completed and the hospital eventually opened in 1978.

Thanks Paul, how strange to still see the curtains hanging in the wards. I worked there for 2 years as a laundry porter, it’s such a shame, but it had to go. 👍🏻👍🏻

Brutalist architecture at it's finest!!!!!!!

Paul, this particular report is amazing. Your flying,photography and editing skills make it standout. I find the sight of the ward furniture and curtains on the roof of the podium quite sad.

I was in ward 9X Which I think was on the 6th Floor. It was facing the Metropolitan Cathedral which was all lit up at Night and a welcoming sight 🙏🙏

Why did you take the collapse footage down paul.?

A massive waste, just because it was seen as good politics - a building that worked and was paid for, replaced by a PFI building with fewer beds than the original.

One of the worst buildings I had the misfortune to visit on a umber of occasions. Built in the 80's 'Brutalist' architecture at its worst.
