The Queen’s baby shows them all how to pick a spouse for a lifelong marriage. HMQEII sure adored her lovely daughter-in-law who was loyal to her to the end. Well done Edward and Sophie.
You can really tell the queen was pleased with the match, her smile as they walked out was just a little brighter than we’ve seen in all the other weddings, and they are the only ones who stayed married, no scandals, still holding strong! Such a beautiful couple, and beautiful wedding!!
@@Kim-ss5bb the press say she's very close, but they don't know that, they have also that Peter is her favourite grandchild, then they have said harry, then zara and Louise unless things are announced by the Palace then anything they write is gossip and they use certain words to indicate they have no evidence
They are the only ones who took their oath seriously and are still married. They are such a delightful couple and their two children are so amazing. I wish them all the best of luck !
What a stupid, crass, silly, judgemental idiot you are. King Charles is proving to be a fantastic head of state and head of nation ably supported by his wife. Recently the Duchess of Edinburgh said how hugely proud she and Edward were to support the King. @@selini52
He has the qualities of a King. It's abt time that the parliament change the rule on the order of succession. Moral decency must be one of the qualifications.
The Law of Succession was changed in 2011, by adoption of the Perth Agreement. Princess Charlotte of Wales was the first to be affected by it. She was not superseded in the line of succession by the birth of her younger brother. The Queen and Prince Philip were quoted as saying, “it’s too bad Anne was born a girl. she’d made a much better monarch than her older brother.’@@rosekhaydelossantos4819
Well i do remember a time when these 2 were not nearly as popular as they are today…. In the 1980:s and 1990:s, Edward wasn’t exactly successful and was seen as a laughing stock… And in the early years of their marriage Sophie tried to work part-time and be a royal part-time until QEII stepped in and put an stop to it and demanded that they should either become full time working royals (wich they luckily choosed) or leave the fold for good…. Sounds familiar ?
@@rosekhaydelossantos4819 the Perth Agreement was adopted in 2011, Princess Charlotte was the first person to be affected by it, but it wasn't made retro-active. In order for the Duke of Edinburgh to become King, 13 people have to remove themselves from the line of succession.
Sophie is a delight to be seen and lovely in every way. She is her own person and happy to be married to Prince Edward. So glad that Sophie and Catherine are good supportive individuals for each other.
She is one of my favorite royals..very smart, soft spoken, just lovely. And my goodness, how much she looks like Diana is breathtaking. Truly a gorgeous bride and a stunning wedding.
Edward and Sophie’s marriage is the only one that’s survived. They are well matched, I noticed Charles looking at Andrew maybe thinking we’ve been here and done that. But Edward is a fine example to honour his wedding vows.

Everyone looked so happy that day! Sophie looked beautiful, and Edward is very handsome. He may have lost his hair, but hes still got the looks! Edward is the only one of The Queen and Prince Philip's children not to divorce. They've been married nearly 23 years, and have 2 lovely children. They're a great credit to The Queen and royal family, as they got on with everything, and dont make a fuss! I love them 💖
I think it's because Edward and Sophie keeps their dirty laundry out of the spot light. They do not seek the Media's attention or desperate for public approval. They do not hang out with Hollywood celebrities and seek out their approval and/or acceptance. Just my honest opinion. Edward is the wisest of them all.
Oh! Thank you for posting this. I completely forgot how lovely Sophie looked. My opinion, she had the most beautiful Wedding Gown. Very appropriate and befitting of the future Duchess of Edinburgh.
She has such a good heart I recently watched the video where she cried and very bravely held back tears talking about Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.I loved how Prince Edward winked at her. One of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen she reminds me of my Aunt when she was her age in this video...she will be supportive with helping the monarchy stand it's ground God bless Prince Edward and beautiful Sophie.
Love this couple hardworking humble dutiful god bless them deserve much more coverage too, Duchess of Edinburgh supported the queen after Prince Philip died, the queen and Sophie were very very close ❤❤
Loved seeing Sophie’s father take hold of her veil and train to help and the way he carried her bouquet part way so she could navigate the steps. I could have done without a couple of the remarks from the female announcer as stunning Sophie arrived in her conveyance and began her walk down the aisle to her Prince and now Duke as well. ❤
He wasn’t a Duke when they married. Hence why she only recently took the tile of Duchess. She married a Prince and Earl, making her Her Royal Highness Countess Sophie of Wessex
I always thought this girl was so pretty. From where go she just had an elegance in a class about her. You know, for so long. There were so many rumors about him but he has been a faithful husband and she has been a faithful wife and their union has lasted longer than any of the others..
She smiles at him several times and he doesn't smile back. It is the wedding where people confess to each other. He doesn't smile back - no confession to Sophie. An asymmetrical relationship, it must be her rich princess.
A beautiful ceremony. A beautiful church. A beautiful couple. A beautiful wedding dress. And they are living Happily Ever After. Thank you Historic Events for posting this.
It was a beautiful wedding. Two lovely royals .They are two lovely people who remain in love and no scandal ever heard about any of them , also there two children .God bless them always .xxx KINDEST REGARDS ELIZABETH SCOTLAND XXXX ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I read Sophie was her most cherished DIL.. Figures, she never did anything to let her down. You have to work set if she would have bonded with Diana if she had lived. I guess they spoke, since she and Edward dated awhile.
Edward didn’t rush to the altar like his siblings, and being the youngest, he had the luxury of seeing all the pitfalls where his brothers and sister fell down, before he married himself…
A happy day, in what was a marvellous year! It's good to know that, like this royal couple, your marriage has remained strong since - may it ever be so and may all your years be wonderful.
You will soon be celebrating your 25th wedding anniversary! Congratulations to the both of you💐🥂❗️ My youngest son got married on the same date and year as William and Catherine and they are going just as strong. Blessings to all of you.
Sophie had a clear advantage. She was a decade older than Diana at her wedding, had an education and a sussessful career. She was less sheltered and knew what she was doing. And her husband is the third son not the heir to the throne
Chuckles was also 33 years old, and getting pressure from mummy, daddy AND granny to marry, produce an heir. That required an aristocratic virgin. Diana was both, the other was neither. By what I’ve seen/heard/read, “At that time, there weren’t many aristocratic virgins from which to choose.’ You are also trying to equate chronological age with maturity, and you can’t do that. As for the other comment about Diana coming from a broken home, i respectfully disagree with that, also. The family can be ‘intact,’ but parents can be so ‘busy’ with their lives, they forget or ignore that they have kids.
It's amazing how technology has improved since 1999! The camera angles and close ups seem so primitive now, with the old box tv screen. Thank you for uploading Sophie and Edwards wedding. A beautiful historical day. Doesn't the Queen look lovely in her lavender and peals formal evening dress, wow.
Only Prince Edward who choose 'Earl' over 'Duke' as his peerage. Whereas if he want, he can choose 'Duke' as his peerage. And queen Elizabeth II will give it to his son happily. But still he choose 'Earl'. How humble he is. His life is not much highlighted coz no scandal. He is the youngest son but he is the most mature than his brothers. He can manage his family (wife and his childrens) very well. This marriage still counting and I hope it will be until death do them part
I remember this day and exactly what I was going through at around that time in 1999. Those were difficult times for me and I couldn't watch the wedding due to lack of television services at home but thanks to technology I was finally able to catch up with what I missed right here. It still feels like a wedding of yesterday, watching these two carry on like newlyweds two and a half decades later. I just love them big. Happy Silver Jubilee, Sophie and Edward!
Love the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh; their titles were made official at Charles' coronation. It was Phillip who wanted Edward to have the Edinburgh title before he died.
Now that they have more prominent roles, the press will search long and hard for some juicy scandal. , they need fresh books to pick on sadly! I hope they keep their guards up.
A very good example of a perfect Holy Matrimony Wedding to be emulated by all on the three points explained about why a man and a woman marry. This is God’s way for human beings. I pray many of our young adults in this generation may follow in their footsteps for God’s blessings and long lasting marriage. Thanks be to God.
S.W. Sophie the Dutchess of Edinburgh is decended from Welsh and Scottish 😊❤ as a Welsh one myself I can say I'm proud to know that. Also, I now know why the dutchess of smeg was wary around her ❤❤❤❤
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip are parents to four children - Prince Charles, 71, Princess Anne, 69, Prince Andrew, 59, and Prince Edward, 55. as of Nov 26, 2019
The only one that is Working? No she is a "Working Royal" that means she doesn't work or have a career she just...does what royals do. Shows up at charity balls and such.
Very strong she was, I was ill last year and I was able to stand for sometime with the help of my sister and Mummy. Within a week after my recovery at home, I returned to college in good spirits still feeling unsteady at times but I still continued on. I’m a healthy almost 22 year old now with full working life. I can’t believe this February 4th will be the first anniversary of my illness occurring and I’m pretty scared of getting emotional in public because I’m very fortunate to be still alive today all because of Woody.EXE’s determination and bravery in admitting his Queen to hospital on February 4th 2023. Woody.EXE got the medal of honour that he deserved
Oh yeah, I remember watching this on TV when a car hit our house... no joke, okay, it barely missed the living room where I was watching TV and plowed into the garage. Nobody got hurt and the garage was easily repaired. This video brings back some interesting memories, lol!
Great couple , I am just seeing this Royal wedding for the first time that it happened 24 years ago ❤ 🎉❤ congratulations both of them had remained together up to now and I wish forever they stay together full of love 💕 , faithful to each other , happy with their two lovely children . ❤❤❤❤
I wasnt born at Diana's wedding but this wedding was intensively covered in magazines in my country Pakistan. I loved the bride. I came here 21 years later to check its status and good to know it's still intact.
Mummy was only 20 when this happened and she married my dad aged 21 a year later and sadly divorced in 2007. I still see him but only on Saturday and Sunday and stay overnight
Not a good comparison. William and Kate would be a better comparison. Charles and Di were 💯 forced. William and Kate is pure love, like Edward and Sophie. Remember Diana also mixed up CHarles name. Said “Phillip Charles Arthur Louis, instead of Charles Phillip Arthur Louis.
Such class! What grace! I've never seen or heard of Sophie, a commoner, complaining about life in the Royal family or lie and exaggerate about them, and swipe the Queen's son away from his family. She didn't try to change the family's policies and rules to suit her, but rather, conformed to them and happily survived. That's a smart cookie! So proud of them. I've never heard her say that their wedding was a public spectacle either. What a difference! The baby in the Queen's family was the only one with brains in choosing a wife (other than William). May others in that family enjoy common sense while having their feet firmly planted on the ground. Bless them.
