This reminds me of when my old University tried to start a lacrosse team. It eventually failed because the players just wanted to scrimmage instead of doing things like running drills or helping new players learn the game. They were more worried about how the uniforms would look than they were about finding a coach. With players like that trying to get it up and running, it was doomed to fail.

My son is a freshmen in high school and just signed up to play lacrosse. I have zero experience with it and never even took the time to learn the game. Now that I've watched this, I'm pretty excited for his first match. Thanks for posting it.

No real talk of face-offs, what makes equipment legal/illegal, what is allowed with stick checks (very important in this weird, semi-brutal sport), and none of the basic penalties like a push from behind. While this isn't the shortest of videos on this channel, lacrosse is annoyingly complex compared to a lot of sports. So I think it's still a valuable video, but I can see why hard core people could get annoyed.

Thanks, Ninh - this form of lacrosse does interest me, as I favor it, as it is the original American sport, as it is the native Indian tribes which originated it as a means to settle disputes between tribes without going to war.

Something like this on ice as well as roller skating/inline lacrosse in an indoor environment. Goal man bouncing passes off the glass on a fast break, skating your soul into oblivion as you barrel towards the crease, you leap into glory as you take your shot, and fall unto your untimely death as you fail to release the ball from a vicious cradle. A moment of silence is acknowledged by both teams... Right before their goalie is deleted. Total collision.

That's not a bad idea actually. I know that they have box lacrosse which is played on a covered up ice rink, but actual ice? Interesting concept, for sure!

Sorry, I know I'm 8 years late to the party, but there is one important rule Ninh forgot to mention and that's what happens when the ball goes out of bounds after a shot on goal is missed. When the offense misses a shot on goal and it's heading out of bounds, the team of the player closest to the ball gets possession. This is why you'll see players from both teams sprinting after the ball on missed shots. Great video as always. A sports junkie like myself certainly enjoys being introduced to all the new sports

Women's lacrosse is Hugely different from men's lacrosse. The rules are so different its almost 100% a different game. I would not go by these rules to gather information or make decisions where women's lacrosse is concerned.

Hey man love the videos!!! But as a European I use the metric system so its really hard fir me to understand the field wight and hight... I do convert them later on but its a hassle. So if you could please just put the info in metric in the corner or something like that it would be awesome! Thanks in advance!

Hi ***** Thanks for the comment on this video. Unfortunately I quote the dimensions as the sports specify in order to be correct. Some sports will display in Metres (Field Hockey, Hurling, Gaelic Football) and some will display in yards, feet and inches (all the American sports). I too am a European and it does get a little confusing, but once you know the conversions, you can quickly work them out in your head. 1 foot = 12 inches = 30cm approx 1 yard = 36 inches = 90cm approx Hope that helps, thanks again, be sure to share and subscribe :)

Dude, for most field sports, 5hough not exact, a meter and yard are basically the same so just use them interchangeably, I know a meter is longer but 5his ain't rocket science, it's sports. So basically 100 meters and 100 yards are CLOSE to 5he same for sports purposes

Overlooked rules: restraining box on offense, goalie has four seconds to clear, defense must get ball out of half in ten seconds, what constitutes legal vs illegal stick checking, legal vs illegal body check. Could also clarify that if a defender goes across midline it's okay as long as a midfielder stays back.

@@NinhLyUK your footage and rules coverage focus more on MLL which is the smallest example of the game, next time look for NCAA footage as the college game and rules are most closely aligned with all other leagues including international play. The restraining box is a huge part of the game in both offence and faceoffs,

@@vonsiii agree that these rules apply most to MLL (the PROFESSIONAL lacrosse rules) and not as much on the NCAA (the college lacrosse rules). For example, there is no two point score in NCAA rules, shot clock is 80 seconds, must clear within 20 seconds, penalty can be more than a minute but less than 3...

The one thing that I would say is a little wrong was when you shoot the ball and finish in the crease. In major league lacrosse, you can finish/land in the crease as long as the ball has hit the net before you hit the ground in the crease. Other than that it was a great video.

I am watching this video because there’s a guy I like who plays this, and although I don’t have an interest in sports at all (I’m only a martial artist), I appreciate it. I’m clueless about basic sports including football, baseball, and tennis haha. I guess I didn’t want to be clueless about a sport my crush plays.
