Here is a response to the 'tin foil hat wearing conspiracy nuts' indicating that the maximum break is actually 155. Under normal conditions, the maximum break is 147. This is widely considered fact and is taken as the maximum that a player can score BY THEMSELVES in one trip to the table, WITHOUT the assistance of fouls. Once you start adding fanciful and unrealistic scenarios that a pro player would foul on the black on the very first shot (they wouldn't) or be given a free ball near to the start of the game (unlikely), some uneducated individuals insist that the maximum break is 155. This has never happened in the history of professional snooker. But then you can take it hypothetically further ... a player fouls on the black on the very first shot, the other player asks him to repeat the shot, he fouls on the black again, the other player asks him to repeat the shot, he fouls on the black AGAIN, but this time, the other player comes to the table and then scores the maximum 147. This leaves the final score 168 - 0. So therefore the maximum break is 168. Or is it 175? Or is it 770? Has any score over 155 ever happened in the professional game? Nope.

What if "Que ball is in touch with a red ball, played to release it free but did touch a color ball." . What happens in this case? please explain same situation with different possible shots(outcomes)
@staezione
@staezione 5 лет назад
Fouls of your opponent are never part of any break. 147 is a maximum and 155 is the highest break you can score with a free ball situation.
@NinhLyUK

This hypothetical free ball situation has never happened in the history of the professional game.

That is ok. But , say me what will be the empire declaraion according to the snooker rules(for below sitation)? 1) I played and potted a red, the cue-ball is in kiss with red now. What should I do? 2)Starting of my turn, the cue-ball is in kiss with a red, I tried to play the cueball without touching anything, but it touched a coor ball. Is that shot ok?

Matthew Train Never heard of Snooker until I accidentally discovered a snooker table in a pool hall. Because America separated from Great Britain, it just never caught on and there's only a small following here. Also, Snooker tables are heavy and expensive. I don't live in the UK, so I can't just waltz over and buy one myself. I'm going to have to order a chinese one. If I had the option, I would want a real deal English one. I'm limited to the pool hall sadly.

jimmyfly He never said it wasn't complex. He was just saying the rules are actually very simple now that he has watched the video. He also never said it wasn't difficult to become good. Your reading comprehension must be extremely low. You're reading stuff in between the lines that isn't even there. In no way was he attacking snooker, but still you're trying to defend it.

IMO it’s better than pool. I find pool to be checkers and snooker chess. Pool is so simple while snooker is much more complicated and takes more mental work

@@GeoJesse Zero clue what you're talking about. There's a reason professional snooker players never say things like what you just said about pool.
@GeoJesse
@GeoJesse 22 часа назад
@@aweigh1010 why would they? It’s terrible publicity trashing another sport. I play both pool and snooker and find snooker much harder. I can run a table in pool all day. Never ran a snooker table in my life and doubt I ever will. In pool they win frames SO MUCH when they pot a ball off the break. They pot one ball on the break and know exactly what they’re gonna do for the rest of the run. In snooker only the pros can run a whole table after being the first to pot. And even then, it’s VERY rare that there’s a frame where the other person doesn’t get an opportunity. In pool, half the time if they make a ball off the break it’s frame over. That’s what makes snooker more fun to watch. Both players get a chance each frame usually. You’ll have a frame here and there where the first to pot is first to win, but rarely ever does the first potter make it and you go “well, frame over” If it’s the better pool players, if one ball gets made off the break, more times than not they clear up. It’s SUPER annoying how that happens. That’s why 9 ball is really primarily what I watch. 8 ball seems like almost every frame is the first person to break ends up clearing up.

I've been watching snooker videos for a while and didn't know about the "touching ball" rule. Does that apply to any color? If it's touching a red and you have to play a red for your next shot, do you have to play for another red?
@NinhLyUK
@NinhLyUK 7 лет назад
Hi David. Yes, I believe that if you are touching red, you must hit a completely different red ball without moving the the 'touching ball' otherwise, it's a foul. It's in Section 3 of the WPBSA rulebook, I think? Hope that helps?
@davidbroughall3782
@davidbroughall3782 7 лет назад
Yes it does, thanks. I saw one where Ding Junhui had the cue ball touching two reds at the same time against Selby. He cued straight down and barely moved the cue ball but didn't play on another red. He wasn't called for a foul.
@darrenskinner3711
@darrenskinner3711 7 лет назад
If you are touching a red and and your next shot has to be a red then you do not have to hit another red. You can hit another red if you choose or even a colour or as is often the case no ball at all but the only thing that actually matters is that you do not move the red you are touching at the moment of striking the cue ball. If you are touching a colour and your next ball is red you simply have to hit a red without moving the colour you are touching. If you are touching a colour and your next ball has to be a colour you can either nominate the colour you are touching and play away hitting any ball or no ball as long as you do not move the ball you are touching or you can nominate another colour and play away from the ball you are touching while striking the ball you have nominated first without moving the ball you are touching.
@Mollari42
@Mollari42 7 лет назад
Yes Darren is spot on, if the next ball on is the touching ball, it is deemed that the player has already hit it when they play away, no other contact is necessary - though just as in the case of any other cannon, is also legal.

@BobSmith-sc6dq 3 года назад

One thing I was always confused about was why do players have to call the color of the ball they're shooting at at some points where they know they can't make a pot?
@NinhLyUK
@NinhLyUK 7 лет назад
Hi Chris. Believe it or not, the 'official rule' is that you have to call the colour you're shooting at every single time. But the referee's don't enforce it if a snooker player is obviously aiming for a specific colour. i.e. he's pointing the cue ball in the direction of the black ball and it's obvious that the snooker player aims to pot the black ball. If it's unclear which one he's going for, the referee will ask him to make a declaration, and if it's unclear if he will make the pot, he has to declare which colour he's aiming for, otherwise it's a foul if another ball goes in. Hope that helps?

Believe it or not, I used to practice snooker on a pool table by buying smaller snooker balls. You can learn the game and then move onto a bigger table when you're ready.

Well done. I thought I understood snooker well, but your video cleared up a couple of misconceptions for me (namely 'free ball' and 'touching ball' which had twists I didn't even consider).

Does it ever happen that the movement of balls interferes with the replacement of a colored ball?
@NinhLyUK
@NinhLyUK 8 лет назад
+Greg Scott Yes it does! If another ball is on or near the spot of a coloured ball (to be replaced), and the ball won't go back on it's spot properly, the next available dot is used to place the coloured ball back on the table. Hope that helps? Be sure to share this video and subscribe :)

Yes, it does. Thanks! I don't know the game but I'm getting hooked watching these bid's.
@LeePrototype

+Greg Scott I'm a big fan of Snooker but I love watching these videos anyway :P Just to add to the rule of replacing a ball where the spot is already taken, if it cannot go on its own spot then it is placed on the highest value spot available. If no spot is available, then it is placed as close to its own spot as possible in a direct line with the top cushion :)

you´re alowed to score two red balls in a roll?

No, once you pot a red - you must aim for a different coloured ball.

You can pot 2 or more reds in one shot. But usually it is disadvantageous as you can't score as much points.

"and you cannot move a touching ball" does he mean you cannot touch a moving ball?
@NinhLyUK
@NinhLyUK 6 лет назад
You can't do that either, but what I mean is that if the cue ball is resting on a ball, you cannot move it.
@nathangek

Only when you're the only person in the room while playing.
@TomCoppell
@TomCoppell 5 лет назад
When both the cue ball and object ball are touching in a stationary position, you must hit a different ball or either play away otherwise it’s considered a push shot which is a foul.

magzire If that spot is covered by another ball, the ball is placed on the highest available spot. If there is no available spot, it is placed as close to its own spot as possible in a direct line between that spot and the top cushion, without touching another ball. If there is no room this side of the spot, it will be placed as close to the spot as possible in a straight line towards the bottom cushion, without touching another ball

In theory yes, but usually it's customary to just sit back and watch.
@charlestalks5638

Conceding means you don't come back to the table, so it doesn't just stop the game, i.e. your opponent can continue to play until the end of their turn
