About the book: The Treatise On The Ruling Of Celebrating The Mawlid) by Imam ash-Shawkani, a prominent 18th-century Yemeni scholar, addresses the ruling of celebrating Mawlid (the Prophet’s ﷺ birthday) in which he acknowledged that the celebration of Mawlid was not a practice during the time of the Prophet ﷺ or his companions. In this lecture, we also examine the views of other scholars, like Ibn Hajar, who classified the Mawlid as a bid’ah hasanah.
