This band could have gone a lot further if wasn’t for bad management.. They deserved more for their talent... Male rockers got treated differently then female rockers.. one thing for sure women like this helped pave the way.. as well Ann and Nancy Wilson.❤️🎶✌️😎🥀
It wasn't just their manager (Kim Fowley)... it was also the times. Girls simply weren't taken very seriously when they played hard rock/metal in those days.
All my high school colleagues were crazy about Cherrie Currie, the sulfurous blonde, I was the only one who preferred Joan Jett, the dark and mysterious brunette.
Let me tell you. It is a tough hair dew to keep up with. It requires hairspray. All those layers grow out fast so you have to keep all them trimmed for it to lay right. That hairstyle is about making it lay right and it is total pain. At least it was for me and everyone I knew with it. I sticks up all over when you wake in the morning.
I forgot to add how awful it would be if the perm came back. So, you the have the Cherie Currie dew with a twist. I got away from all the hairspay and the perm chemicals. I don't want it back😰 It is frightening.
The tune is really great, almost like rock jazz. You can throw in 8 beats here or there, and it doesnt' change it's greatness. You could double the solo time, and still it's just as strong. Kim Fowley and Kari Krome's genius at work here!
My band cover this song, and let me tell you... The first time I heard it I thought "boring", but you know what? It's a fantastic rock 'n roll song, and it has a perfect riff! It's really fun to play :-) The original sounds amazing, and those girls....? WOW!

Does anyone wanna start a rock n roll band like them? for awhile Ive been thinking about what Im gonna do for a band, and I know a lot of people see these comments. Im 13 I play rythmn and some lead. I love rock nroll and I wanna do it for as long as I can. Ive seen bands who start out playing young. Im not saying were gonna make it at 13 but I wanna try. Did you know Sandy West started playing in live bands at age 13? Who wants to give rock n roll a shot? GOOD rock n roll like from the 70's 80's and 90's. Basically rock like joan jett and the runaways. I love joan jett.

Hell yea I've been wanting to do this but I wouldn't know where to find the right people im 17 I wanna learn the guitar but don't have the money for it rn and maybe sing a little idk if I have the voice yet I've never really tried singing like THAT but let me know I'm willing to start a band up even tho this comment is 7 years old 😂

The Runaways music is a bit plodding and generic, but they had plenty of charisma and attitude and that was very important for inspiring young females to become hard rockers.
