Running man and Demolition man are perfect cautionary tales of how we should tread carefully going into the future, ironically I think we are walking straight into those worlds..
@@thrashmetalfiend I guess he was talking about Covid restrictions in relation to Running Man but so far seems like the world has relaxed in that regard
+kingkoop28 , "I live to see you eat that contract, but I hope you leave enough room for my fist because I'm going to ram it into your stomach and break your god-damn spine"
***** , I couldn't find the Arnold video to spoke of. Do you have the RU-vid ID. Don't paste the entire URL because RU-vid will filter your comment. Just supply the video ID. For example, the video ID for this is v=VYdsNeRoShA
If any of you have ever read the book, it is very very different from the movie. To name a few examples, the running man isn't a criminal, he signed up to make money. They don't put you in an underground arena thing either, you have the entire world to run and hide from the hunters. The book gives you a sense of "what's going to happen next?" and I recommend it to everyone. And don't worry if you've already seen the movie, the book is wayyy different so there aren't any spoilers.
Matt Thibodeau I would love to see a remake going by the book, the ending would be controversial if you think about it...play this theme and you have a masterpiece
I read the book when I decided to watch TRM again and saw that it was "based on the book by Stephen King" and I was blown away that King wrote this. Sure enough the book is almost *nothing* like the film. The book is very short but very good in my opinon with some great twists and a really good ending. They are both good in their own ways.
That would be an instance of a remake that I'd actually be glad to hear was happening. Most remakes are just cynical cash-ins that don't bring anything new to the table.
Running man..... in 90's it was " the" movie... futuristic and completely out of human values. One of the most...underrated movie Arnold performed. Just brilliant
It was the 80s my friend not the 90s best arnie times we were always looking forward to going to theaters to cach a movie best decade ever because life was pretty much revolutionized back in the day. I guess we ran out of ideas everything was done back in the day 🙃
The music is quite emotional to me.The film is great and it has a wonderful score. There will never be another Arnold Schwarzenegger.I'm a big fan of your early work and you have inspired me.80s and 90s films rule!
I love the old Arnie movies. They take me back to my childhood. Let's face it...modern movies suck compared to the stuff that came out in the 80's despite modern special effects and CGI.
It's because they didn't rely solely on eye popping effects and CG. The fun was in the action and the funny one-liners the star, in this case Arnie would deliver. Running man was filled with them. "Sub-zero. Now just plain zero!" I also love how they used his old one liner from Terminator. "I'll be back!" "Only in a re-run." Movies like this were just good old fun. No tights or magic hammers, just muscle, brawn and the occasional machine gun and grenade launcher. Don't forget the chicks either. Woman: "What makes me think I'm going to go with you?" Arnie "Because I'm going to say 'Pleeeeeeeease.'"
The Running Man came on this morning. Brought back great memories Arnold is a legend. Forgot how fine the lady actor was and still is to this day. Excellent movie.
""By 2017 the world economy has collapsed. Food, natural resources and oil are in short supply. A police state, divided into paramilitary zones, rules with an iron hand. Television is controlled by the state….All art, music and communications are censored. No dissent is tolerated and yet a small resistance movement has managed to survive underground." "Sad."
So cool. Harold Faltermeyer composed the score for "The Running Man". I'd say he's up there with Vince DiCola as synth soundtrack composer grand masters. He also wrote the pop song "Restless Heart" along with John Parr (St. Elmo's Fire) for this movie. At 1:05 you can hear in the score "No more lonely nights..." very cool.
I just saw it for the first time yesterday and thought the same thing. Lots of predictive programming! Things have really gone over the top this past year and probably lots more to come...
I'm just coming to the realization that Arnold Schwarzenegger has not only played some of the most iconic characters, in the most iconic movies, but he also had some of the most iconic "one liners" and iconic soundtracks! Conan the Barbarian, Terminator, Predator, True Lies, Commando, Red Sonya, Running man, Total Recall... such amazing soundtracks every single one of them. ☺
My absolute fave Arnie film i grew up loving this on video!!! An absolute underrated classic with excellent pure 80s music that's emotional & exciting!!! Arnie is the KING OF ACTION
agree......its one of his better movies and heavily underrated for what ever reason.....as matter of fact think it would be appropiate for this era.....cause its getting nasty innit
"The Running Man" is my favourite Stephen King novel, in part thanks to its "Blade Runner"-esque cyberpunk dystopian setting, which is rather unique among the author's work (and which this music captures brilliantly), but mainly because it was so prophetic.
I was a kid in Santiago de Chile, we lived under Pinochet's dictatorship, just imagine listening this in the late 80's. This was the movie that teached me about TV lies and propaganda...!!!
Yeah a lot of old school games, got their influence from a lot of the movies of the 80's/early 90's with music.. Especially games like Contra, and Metal Gear,
i always found it strange that a beefy, kick ass guy with an austrian accent is called 'ben richards' in this movie. it's kinda like jean claude van damme playing true blue united states soldier col. william guile
Loved this movie. Some critics say one of arnie weaker movies but I loves as much as predator or Total. Recall. And let's face it was set in 2019. The world isn't much different from the movie. Corporations and the media rule society.
