@@LinasLessons you're welcome. To explain further, I always knew when to use the word, but I never understood why it was changing, into certain cases. I was so focused on the first part of the sentence, I never had anyone explain that I needed to focus on the second part of the sentence. There are many videos out there that just say "use genitive plural" etc but they don't explain why. You broke it down beautifully and my language partner is so happy that I understand because he was trying to explain it to me for 3 years 😂

I am asking whether there is a form of "который" connecting and reporting time instead of "когда" My examples may be incomprehensible. It wasn't long ago that I started learning Russian. Here it’s going to be weird to use the word “который”, so I’ll say that better not to use here this contruction. Мы переехали в сентябре, когда я начал школу - is the best option here. Although, sometimes it’s possible to say like this. For example: Это случилось в тот год, в который мы встретились. But still, it sounds really really weird. It’s more the language for books. So in colloquial conversation better use “когда”.

Экзамены заканчиваются *на* той *неделе* . Мы уезжаем отпуск с друзьями из школы на той неделе. Unified sentence: Мы уезжаем отпуск с друзьями из школы на неделе, когда экзамены заканчиваются. As I understood we can't say this: Мы уезжаем отпуск с друзьями из школы на *неделе* , *на* котором экзамены заканчиваются. We can use "который" to express different things but no time. Мой брат забыл свой велосипед, на котором он катался вчера на площадь. If you confirm what I understand, I think I won't have any confusion about this subject. Either way, thank you very much.
@@ramboman6636 yessss, this sentence also sounds weird… You’re right, we use it definitely not for the time. It sounds like something really complicated and I don’t think a Russian person would ever say something like this. Simple “когда” will be perfect here.

Какой you use in questions: Какой цвет тебе нравится? - Which (what) color do you like? And который as I said you would use in compound sentences as a conector. It’s impossible to replace the word который here with the word какой. But in questions sometimes you can hear: Который цвет тебе нравится? (But it sounds a little bit weird for me).

My understanding of English that vs. which is when the clause is important to the meaning of the sentence vs. when it is simply providing extra information. "The book that I wanted to buy was too expensive" vs. "The book, which I wanted to buy, had a pretty cover." Does that seem right, and does it correlate to when you'd use который vs. что/кто? Although I put those sentences into Google Translate and it used которую for both. I guess it correlates to both that and which in those contexts, not caring about the distinction that English does, and что/кто is only for the context like "I wanted you to know that I got your message" and "I wanted you to know who is coming."
Yes, you're totally right. Both sentences will be used with the word "которую" in Russian. 1. Книга, которую я хотел купить, была слишком дорогая. 2. У книги, которую я хотел купить, была красивая обложка. And yes, in the last two examples you'll use "что" and "кто" 1. Я хотел, чтобы ты знал, что я получил твоё сообщение. 2. Я хотел, чтобы ты знал, кто придёт.
@@LinasLessons Of course, none of this explains why "What time is it?" is "Который час?". If it's meant to mean like "which hour is it?", then shouldn't it be "какой час?"

@@jadhat3411 ah I see. It depends on the verb. For example here after скучать we always should use a preposition по. And after по we always use Dative case, so any name after will be in dative: Я скучаю по Александру, я скучаю по Анастасии.
