I paid $20 for this game that kept adding stuff for 10 years. I didn’t like all the changes, but overall, it’s been the gift that kept on giving. There’s now so many paths to take as a play strategy now. Thanks guys.

this game is bad, the creators hate there fanbase. It will die within a year. They need to hurry up and come out with more updates, more like a 10 dollar game not a 20 dollar game. Too many paths to take as a play strategy

You need to play on non-official servers with active admins. That's just the reality but it works way better and custom servers have quality of life changes which make the game better imo

Any community server is 100x better when it comes to quickly dealing with cheaters than official servers are. I steer clear from officials because of cheaters.

Legacy Rust still holds the fondest memories for me, the feeling it had is something New Rust still hasnt been able to replicate.

Main differences in legacy is that there was no player with 10k hours, everyone fairly new to the game and discovering it .. nothing can replicate that even if the game is better now

A full year and absolutely nothing done about the cheating problem that is bringing this game to it's knees. The amount of people that quit or don't get into the game because of the cheating is outrageous. "10 years of cheating" is right.

It's still one of the most popular games on Steam, though I agree with you. I feel like the team should slow down the updates and work on a Rust 2.0 with a modern engine.

*Insert 10 years worth of pies for the one and only Horse of Darkness and Rust updates* Shadowfrax, thank you for all you've done in covering Rust. Theres been times where [after a couple thousand hours in the game] I took breaks from Rust but always watched your update videoes - which have acted as a means to inspire and get me back on to see exactly what they've input into the game for myself! Sincerely, 10 years of constant updates... I don't know a game dev team thats so attentative! Where, I can forgive them the swings and misses [or sheer amount of DLC's] - especially where it feels like many of the things I have suggested / would have liked to have seen in the game: they've pretty much included! Though, I feel like I'm forever going to be waiting on Apple trees, Barbed wire [agriculture/base defence] and a Chicken Coop! Just as you're waiting for cooking pies Shadowfrax! Maybe one of these hackweeks will come up fruitful [or... pieful]. Either way! Albeit I jump on from time to time and not as much as I once did - I sincerely appreciate all that the devs have put into the game for us to be able to get so much out of it. i hope they will add even more content , more weapons such as new firearms / cannons / single grad launcher / mortar / tank module for cars / workbench 4 / building upgrade tier 6 / planes / breadboard circuits / and more complex stuff / backpack / more turret options and modules , turret cannon for base defense.......

Need to finally(pusked it to later date since 2017) put together a win 7 install that has modern hardware and all secirity drivers, disabled update, + some other supports and remove all the unneeded junk (thankfully not as bad as later win's have) and use it on one of my comp.

this game took the worst turn a game could take, the rotting golden egg, i bet you more than anything, their low priority list is actually all the critical meta problems that they dont wanna look at, kinda like being able to place doors over placeables, prolly took less then a day to fix/implement actually, and yet its finally put in after years of complaints

I paid $5 for this game in 2013, and the devs been developing non-stop for 10 years!! Amazing devs! BUT, Hackers have RUINED the game completely! They have programs that are not detected by Anti-cheat/EAC and will NOT get VAC'd!!! Now Facepunch Server Ban only bans for 3 days, then they can join again! They have full ESP on your Body Inventory, your user Name on Map, Your TC placement, Your Lootboxes, Aim Bot!!! Game is broken & unwinnable. Facepunch DO BETTER!!!

I was in it from around the start and I remember building pillars on the middle of foundations just so no one could build to the top and raid down on your base. It started with ddos atks and making the server slow. Then you would be hiding in your base and get killed through the walls.

@@fote1382game is still riddled with bugs, dlc has been pay to win on multiple occasions, game is laggy asf with the slightest of high ping, game is still not optimized, hitboxes for the cliff update no one asked for are still broken, game is still riddled with cheaters, recoil is still random... I could go on but I already wrote this out once and youtube decided to play an ad which got rid of my comment 🤦‍♂️

I play solo/duo, and auto smelting with electric furnace is the only addition we use. No complaints, we still enjoy the game, but a lot of unnecessary bells and whistles now.

does anyone here remember the first week of rust's release? I do it was a mess stability wise it ran fine but as for cheater it only took 2 days before they exploded everywhere the devs claimed to be running punkbuster when it was never actually running it was a few weeks before there was an actual anti cheat on the game

One thing none of these videos likes to point out is the time investment you need to commit to the game if you ever want to enjoy it. In that respect I like sea of thieves better. You can play a few hours, and come back in 2 weeks to continue. Server wipes are a big no for me.

That's bull, playing in 2017 you would pick a server before dinner and come back to it halfway. If you crashed you were done for the night. It's like 5x-10x times faster now.

I love Rust its a fantastic game that can make or brake people. My only Gripe is the updates. I feel they could include so much more than they are doing. However some of the updates they "do do" are bigger than they look like power and automatic system. I think they need to work on the PVE stuff first and foremost. Its lacking and if anything its more of a gatekeeping thing to stop people going to certain landmarks before they get a decent weapon.

Changing recoil was the biggest mistake they made. If you look at the charts the game has lost lots of players since then.

It hasn’t, I agree with missing the old recoil but it completely amped the player base vs what it used to be. It gave most people a chance to play and actually be able to use the AK and MP5. The game has the most population of players it has ever had now.

@@polwie5291 you had the chance all along, you just needed to do something called practise, like everyone who was good at it did. And even though you have more players now, on its peek, you can see the average people that played it more time throughout the entire month went down. Wich in my opinion means people are getting bored way faster, also loot its easier than ever to get. Also dont forget that the bigger Number of players was on old recoil with the OTV event.

@@Lima-vw8ye nonetheless you are correct on a few matters. Either way the player count is the highest it has been. Only thing I miss is when servers weren’t 600 pop. That is the main thing that bothers me. The map isn’t big enough and the lag is terrible but some there is so many players now, they do that instead of having queues. I really miss the golden days
