He knew a bit of seventh day Adventist prophecy. Note he used our beliefs about Sabbath keepers being sealed of God and all others taking the "mark of the beast" doesn't have full picture of the entire prophecies of Revelation and Daniel otherwise he would be able to swallow Sabbath keeping. Amen. Jesus didn't do away with the law. He came to fulfill the law. James says to keep theaw of liberty which point to the 10 commandments. As for me and my family we will observe the commandments and keep the sabbath on the seventh day. Thank you for your debate.
The best days of my life is when I started keeping the Sabbath at 44 year old. Pastor Doug was used by the Holy Spirit to open my mind! Alleluiah!! I saw this debate when it was aired, but I am still in awe of all the Sabbath truth presented by Pastor Doug. I praise God He opened my mind towards His Truth! I am here for this topic because when l was 17, l relocated to my grandmother’s house where they didn’t keep the sabbath and as a teenager l followed suit. One morning, sleeping in my grandmother’s house l heard a voice, asking me why l do not keep the Sabbath anymore in my own language (Shona in Zimbabwe). When the voice spoke, l was vibrating that my granny woke up wondering. By the way, back home, in a remote village, l was a Sabbath School leader and now l was roaming the streets on Sabbath. I am happy with keeping the Sabbath and all God’s commandments as He is too wonderful 🙏🏾. Thank you for the debate 🙏🏾

Furthermore, it was never meant to be kept for all time! The Hebrew word 'Olam' means a long time and is translated as 'Lasting' (NIV) in Lev 23:14, 21, 31, 41. A long time is not for ever. The long time was from Moses to Christ! The Church leaders like Peter, Paul John etc never taught that the sabbath should be kept!! Wow, what a wonderful debate. I am a Seventh Day Adventist for 15 years now. I was led to this church by the Holy Spirit but not without a fight. I agreed with Steve in all he said until I did what Doug said, to study scripture. For the first two years of coming to the SDA church I studied myself to tears. Reading and comparing for hours. Neglecting to eat lol. I am so glad I did so because I can honestly say that God “does” reveal to those who humbly seek Him. Amen!

I don't keep any of the laws that was given to moses including the ten commandments. The law give to them that do those things and use fair to stop them with out changing them. For those under the law if God should speak from heaven and say people don't need to keep the law and can do whatever they want to do and their will be no punishment those under the law would just go back to their old way of robbery and killing. The thing I do is because of love and not the law

@@billclass5847 The issue in Galatians was circumcision. Or are you saying we have freedom to lie, steal, covet, murder and commit adultery and to not love God in the ways he has ordained. I think you are mixing up the ceremonial law that passed away with Christs Life and Death on the cross, where he paid for and redeemed us from our sins, with the Moral Law that was written in stone by the finger of God which will never pass away. To be clear, we aren’t saved by keeping or at least trying to keep the Law, we are saved by Christs redemption and grace. But that doesn’t mean we should keep on sinning oblivious to Gods Law, we should repent and seek to know and do his will.

This is a new subject for me. I've always thought the Sabbath was Sunday and only since reading part of the Bible have realized that the Catholic church changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, which they didn't have the authority to do. People need to read the Bible to find the truth, not just listen to sermons.
No one changed it. Sabbath is still the last day of the week. Sunday was adopted as a day to celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Sabbath was given to rest and reflect on the goodness of God.

Look closer at scripture there is no way the Sabbath is in effect unless you want to keep the whole law of the old covenant. I would urge you to look at the foundation of SDA and where the doctrines come from.
I see in Doug fruit of the spirit- warmth, kindness and peacefulness. I am convicted to keep Sabbath- God saved me from total darkness (New Age+ dark spirits) and Sabbath is important to me to keep, because I care to know His will for me. Also, I truly feel rejoiced on Saturdays- I go to Bible Study in the morning, a worship service following and then I go to the Bible group afterwards where we eat together, laugh, share our testimonies, study the Bible and pray. I am so blessed that God gave me this community so quickly after I realised I was living in darkness🙏🥰😊.

SDA pointing on people who go to church on Sunday are sinners and they are the holy one because they go to church on Saturday which has nothing to do with salvation. SDA follows EGW teaching and not scripture alone.
@@princessella5527 SDA does not condemn people who go to church on Sunday nor do we think worshiping God at home daily is breaking the sabbath. You should praise and worship God daily and we should never judge anyone who goes to church on Sat or Sun. Sda follows the biblical sabbath which is on Saturday rather than Sunday. EGW is a supplemental teaching in addition to scripture and that is similar to anyone who reads or follows another Author's teachings. I think it's okay to for someone else like EGW or another person to shed light to others.
Pr Doug has always presented biblical truths in plain, easy-to-understand fashion. He never twists scripture to win a debate. You can never go wrong if you let the Bible interpret itself. I always liked Pr Doug's approach to a topic. He is a strong believer of "It is written," and "Thus saith the Lord." Amen.

@Mike Flanagan I don't want to argue with you, but would like to clarify some things. So are you saying we all should be Jews? Or should we be just called Christians as in Acts 11:26, Acts 26:28, Romans 12:9, Galatians 5:1, Colossians 3:18, Colossians 4:2 and 1 Peter 4:16? Are Christians just another sect like the Pharisees? You do know that the meaning of Adventist just means that you believe in the second coming? Does not Christ say in John 14:3 "that if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you will be also. So wasn't Christ the original Adventist? does not John in Revelation 22:7, 12 write down Christ words again? Would that not tell you that the apostles believed in the advent of Christ? I would like to here more on your reasoning and maybe some Bible verses to go along with them.

He never BROKE THE SABBATH - no matter what they accused Him of. I wouldn't be so quick to JOIN their ranks by similar accusations, were I you. Consider some of His words in addressing them! Are you also unfamiliar with His pointing out their hypocrisy in complaining about His saving life or limb or otherwise healing suffering humanity when they would think nothing of pulling a dumb animal out of a life-threatening predicament - or mercifully watering their animals? What's the principle there? Clearly that exerting effort ("working") to bless another of God's children is NOT the sort of "work" that is prohibited in the 4th commandment! You had BETTER apply adequate cogitation and discernment to understand that PRINCIPLE, while KEEPING in mind that Jesus' other explanations of PROPER commandment keeping leaned toward MORE precise "keeping," not discarding ANY of them altogether, as you seem wont to do. Again - like I said - you may be free to "roll your own" and rationalize away any and all obligations to modify the desires of your own heart, but don't expect a "well done, thou good and faithful servant..." with that minimal level of interest in God's will. I know the video is 3yrs old but thank you Pastor Doug for your ministry and reaching out to All people. I have gotten saved this year early January before my 28th birthday. I had no church or knew where to go, I was nervous due to how many churches was around and I wanted the truth and only the truth. I prayed to God, and the Holy Spirit helped me into finding a Seventh Day Adventist church. Which I never heard nor knew what it stood for. I was reading the Bible and learned about the Sabbath, I didn’t see everything at first. I was like wow a church that’s on Saturdays, I’m used to seeing churches open on Sundays. I remember nervous and shaking walking up to the church I kept praying to God is this the church for me. I went inside greeted by amazing people and I was alone, I sat down and immediately I felt the presence of God saying now your safe my child, and I cried immensely and couldn’t stop. That day in February I stood up to give my life to God, I got baptized in May, and I met my Husband at church and we got married in September and God has completely transformed me and blessed me and I had no idea what was ahead of me because of living in darkness and the world all of my life. No one spoke to me about God or Jesus. It took up until 27 that I had nothing left in me that I was looking forward to ending my life, I kept looking at the cross on a church building at a new job I started. I didn’t know why physically but spiritually something was shifting, it was preparing me my heart and my thoughts for Christ and sure enough He came to save me. My Husband introduced me to your ministry and were very blessed. Being a Seventh Day Adventist and keeping the Sabbath has been more than a blessing for me.

I've studied alot of biblical perspectives, theologies. Last year about this time during the (July 2020) I discovered Protestant Historicism. About 7 weeks ago I realized there is an SDA church in my lil town, I had forgotten about it over the years So I checked it out. I'm so glad I did. Wonderful people in a small congregation and they've taken me and my family in just like family. I feel the Holy Spirit has led me there and to the SDA faith. I'm currently going through the 28 fundemental beliefs with the new Pastor and his wife and plan to be baptized into the Seventh Day Adventist Church when we are done. @@christophercoupe5006 The Sabbath was "blessed" and "sanctified" on the 7th day when God rested after creation. Gen 2:3 Adam and Eve were NOT Jews or Israelites. Also, nowhere in the bible does it say that the sabbath was changed from the seventh day of the week to the first day of the week. NO ONE has authority to change God's holy laws, and if there was any change, Jesus himself would of told His disciples before Jesus ascended to heaven, but Jesus did not change any of God's holy laws. The papacy admitted that the Sabbath IS on Saturday, but they believe their catholic church's "power", THEY changed Sabbath from Saturday to sunday, and are making all the world follow its doctrine of demons. It says so in the catholic catechism. The catholic church fulfilled the prophecy in Daniel 7:25. Now does any mortal person in the world have authority to change God's laws? Certainly NOT.

God made that first day 7 Holy because He rested on it not because the day itself was Holy!! The sabbath is never mentioned as a command until Moses' Law 2500 years later. If it was so important to God then Moses would've mentioned people keeping it from Adam onward. The Holy Spirit was given to the Desciples as they met for Pentecost (Acts 2) which is a Sunday! Just as God intended from the time of Moses. If as you claim the sabbath was important to God He would've sent the H.S. on the sabbath. Don't you think it odd that after Jesus' ascention to Heaven the Apostles never command the churches to keep the sabbath? Jesus confronted and taught Paul the Apostle after He ascended to heaven - Acts 9, Galatians 1:11-12 . So according to you all of Paul's letters to the churches should be ignored? BTW Paul never teaches the Gentile churches anything about the sabbath! Who cares what the catholic cult says! Stick to what God says in the bible. The law of Moses was only meant to be kept until John the Baptist & Jesus time - Matthew 11:13!! God changed the laws of Moses, people didn't!!! Thanks so much, you cleared this up for me.... I now covenant to keep the Sabbath and not overdo it. But I have a problem with the other 9 commandments. I cannot keep them. For example, the one about "Thou shalt not Murder" - if one looks at what Jesus defines murder, it is also including "Hating your brother in your heart" which I have done a million times. Also about the prohibition about committing adultery. Jesus also said that if I lust after a woman in my heart, I have broken this commandment. I have not really lusted after a woman, but have had homosexual lust after a man. So if I cannot obey the other 9 commandments. *My question, have you?* "Thou shalt not have any other gods" - how about Ellen White? She is an idol to so many adventists. Many would say that if you remover her from her pedestal, the SDA religion would not exist. How do I keep from breaking the other nine commands? I've already referred to three I've broken. Doug said that if we break one, we have broken them all. Now, if I cannot keep three of the 10 (idolatry, Murder, adultery) perfectly, what is the use of trying to obey one more. How many things would I have to do to keep the Sabbath perfectly? I could not get into an elevator and press the button to go to my apartment - that would be lighting a fire. I could not kindle the lamp to read the Bible in the dark - that is work. I could not carry my Bible out of my house - that would be carrying a burden. How can I be told to keep the Sabbath when I cannot even keep the other 9 perfectly. I've disobeyed my parents by not honoring them, how do I do this now that I'm older. He says in His word, if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us. Adventists believe in the saving power of Jesus Christ, and that the only way to God is through Jesus Christ, not on any other saving power. God first in Adventist life!

It was a blessing watching this. I pray as we are tested in these last days that we will choose to obey God's Word and keep ALL His Commandments because of our love for Him. 1. What do you have to lose if you are convicted and you keep the Sabbath and then found out when Jesus returns that it was done away with? 2. BUT what do you have to lose when convicted to but willfully refuse to keep the Sabbath and when Jesus returns you found out it was NOT done away with? Study and pray sincerely from your heart and God will reveal His truth unto you. 'The commandments of God' or as you said "His Commandments" (Because you do not keep ALL His Commandments ..there are 613 of them). are the commands of our God Jesus spoken with his (God's) own mouth on the Mount of Blessings, not the 613 commandments contained the Law of Moses, whose only function was to drive us to see our need for the "God with us" = Emanuel = Jesus Christ the Only Righteous Person who ever lived! PHRASE: "the commandments of God" These are the commandments of Jesus as quoted throughout the New Testament. These are NOT the Ten Commandments. The context makes this inescapably clear, and there is no "text" without "context." PHRASE: "they that do His commandments." This, again according to the context, refers to those who have the Holy Spirit within them and who are following Christ's commandments. But nowhere in the New Testament does Christ include the Fourth Commandment of the Decalogue. And so Christ did not command us to keep the Sabbath. Do you really know what John is talking about in Revelation? Let's look a little closer. Turn to 1 John 3:22-24. This is John's terminology he uses in Rev. 12:17, And here is the Commands of Rev 12:17, John 14:15, "that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another" 1 John 3:24 Are you really doing His Commandments? Do you believe on the name of His Son, Jesus Christ? Do you love us Non Sabbath day observing Christians? May I encourage you to also read John 15:10,12,17! John using the terminology "commandments of God" as seen in Rev 12:17 and 14:10, these passages do not refer to the Ten Commandments. If John was referring to the Ten Commandments he would have used the word "law" or (NOMOS). But for those who do not accept Jesus Christ's perfect RESTATEMENT of an earlier imperfect statement of God's law, yes, you indeed are still under the Law of Moses and you are not under grace. The law says: Deu 8: 2 And *thou shalt REMEMBER ALL the way(s) which* Jehovah thy God hath led thee *these forty *(40)* years in the wilderness,* that he might humble thee, to PROVE thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou wouldest *keep HIS COMMANDMENTS* , or NOT" *ALL THE WAYS,* During the 40 years! Not the 10 commandments alone. That means ALL OF THEM, not just the 10 commandments, it includes all the Sabbaths of Lev. 23 that Israel was both taught and commanded to keep *those 40 years* ! Don't try to limit them to the 10 commandments, because there is simply no truthful way to come remotely close to doing that. I am so thankful for people like Doug bachelor and other truth preaching teachers. I’ve been struggling a bit of course the devils got me targeted but I know I can stay strong in the good Lord Jesus. It’s just sometimes even after I ask for guidance before reading my Bible it’s still difficult to understand, and as a seventh day Adventist 18 year old girl you can imagine the the struggles I face, wether it be through school, the media, or just my everyday friends. But I overall really enjoyed this debate, and I hope to see more content like this!

"Remember the sabbath to keep it holy". The only commandment that starts with "remember". Can't imagine why. The sabbath starts at sundown Friday and ends at sundown Saturday. "Sun"day is not the Sabbath despite what Catholics or so-called Christians say to the contrary. There is no "debate".

I was an Anglican by birth. I never knew that the 7th day of the week is Saturday. That fact stood out more clearly when you go back to the account on the crucifixion weekend. I was so amazed thinking, "so I have been keeping a wrong day holy." Today I am not brain washed into becoming an Adventist, but I am convinced by the Holy Spirit thru the study of the bible that Sabbath is Saturday and not Sunday. And it still stands as God's holy day.

Also about the prohibition about committing adultery. Jesus also said that if I lust after a woman in my heart, I have broken this commandment. I have not really lusted after a woman, but have had homosexual lust after a man. So if I cannot obey the other 9 commandments. *My question, have you?* "Thou shalt not have any other gods" - how about Ellen White? She is an idol to so many adventists. Many would say that if you remover her from her pedestal, the SDA religion would not exist. How do I keep from breaking the other nine commands? I've already referred to three I've broken. After all, because of the sin committed in the garden of Eden, that sin was past down to the rest of mankind. We have no choice in that, it is our nature. That what Jesus death was for. He was killed as the payment of our sin. What we need to do is what l like to call C.A.T. CONFESS your Sin to God! ACCEPT the gift of Jesus death for our sin! THANK God for that gift. Do that every day with an open and sincere heart. Start that relationship with God. As for the other things you listed, that is between you and God. I can not judge you for that. Take it up with him daily, open you heart and let the Holy Spirit guide you as you grow your daily relationship with God. As you do that you will grown in your strength. That is the best l can say about that. As for Ellen White, no SDA l know think her as a God. She was only a human being who was given devine knowledge to share with anyone with an open heart. The writers of the Gospels are really no different than Ellen White as they were also given the devine knowledge as well. They are human and we should not treat them as God. Do you know the man who has the fruits of the spirit? It's an aside, but if you are determining that conclusion solely from an interaction presented on You Tube, you are not exercising discernment. I've seen a mass of people who followed a man who appeared humble, intelligent, articulate - a "man of God" so called. You could not fault his teaching, but a short time revealed he did not possess the fruits of the Spirit, but rather a gift (teaching) only. The deception led to much heartache and trouble. A gentleman's' debate on a very important topic. Well moderated and well researched by both men. Steve's arguments would likely convince many Sunday keepers to keep ignoring the 10 commandments but would likely fail to move any 7th day sabbath observers. Doug's arguments would likely cement 7th day sabbath observers faith in their belief but could well convince Sunday keepers to at least consider the possibility that the entire 10 Commandments are important. Steve refused to give Sunday any significance and resorted to making every day a day of worship whereas Doug elevated the importance of the 7th day and totally rejected any significance to Sunday.
The explaination of Pastor Bachelor is very clear to me. Yes! Why do we have to omit the 10 commandments esp the Sabbath when it woulf give only blessings and for the benefit of humanity.

Sunday SCRIPTURES teach us to work gather food to give to poor, yet they gathered daily excited to have new family, they lived for one another. Like if you had to live at my camp a year, every time you put wood on the fire you do it for everyone at camp, when 5 of us go fishing, regardless of who catches the fush we are all still gonna eat. The real church runs just like that A LIVING SACRIFICE EVERYONE FOR THE WHOLE BODY. Again when you put food into your mouth which is the door to the body does it not go to all the body? I can understand u want to agree with Doug Bachelor, he's a good and charming speaker. But sorry, pastor Steve Gregg is simply right here. Although i like his approach, i would add some things to clearify some confusion. The question 'sabbath or sunday' is really a false dichotomy. Christians aren't under the law with it's types, shadows and customs. The sabbath day is part of this. Anyone who is familiar with the early church and the churchfathers knows we are to live trough the Holy Spirit, who will confirm the MORAL law. This law is everlasting because it reflects God's holy character. Also 'law keepers' should be consistent, because the law includes more then just the famous 10 commandments, it is the Torah; all 5 books of Moses. The work of Christ trough the Spirit fulfills the requirements of the whole law. (Rom. 8:4) The first day of the week became special for the early church as this is the day Christ fulfilled being the firstfruit at the resurrection. This is preshadowed in the law as the priest's barley sheaf offering (omer), offered every 1st day of the week after the week of passover/Pesach. This is also when the omer count (50 days) begins till when the harvest was being brought in at pentecost/Shavuot; the birth(day) of the NT church! again, 1st day of week. This makes sunday a day of spiritual renewal and significance, but don't mistake it to be a sabbath. Only trough faith in the Saviour-King we enter a true Godly rest, that wil be completed in the everlasting Kingdom. (Hebr. 4). People forget Jesus was born as a Jew under the law (including circumcision), and He was the only one that fulfilled the requirements perfectly, doing away the handwriting of ordinances that testyfied against us sinners by giving His life on our behalf. The new covenant is based on Christ's accomplished work, therefore the law for a Christian is spiritual (Rom. 7: 14). Sabbath day keeping is a modern phenomenon, wich primarily comes from the 19th century adventist movement. (From where also most famous bible-cults came) Don't be decieved! Keeping certain mosaic laws can give u a false feeling of being righteous before God, while u are really trusting in your own obedience and this way building on sand in stead of on the Rock!

As a neutral this is the best debate I have ever seen on the sabbath. Both nailed it - May the Lord Guide our to the ultimate truth. This is so good to prayerfully watch and rewatch for personal study until divine illumination comes.
I’ve seen parts of this awhile ago, I love to listen to pastor Doug, and believe what he teaches, as he goes by the word of God! Too many want to give the SDA’s a bad name! We know what God wants, and He created everything, it’s up to us weather we follow Gods word, He doesn’t force us! He loves us so much he gave his son for us! How awesome is that? I thought Steve Gregg actually did a good job (I believe in the Sabbath) until he said that Jesus sinned. For me, he lost his entire testimony on those words alone. Jesus never sinned nor did he break the Sabbath. He showed them HOW to live on the Sabbath rather than all the additional rules added by the Jews making it a yoke they couldn't bare. He simply healed on the Sabbath (do good works) no different than when the Jews rescued an animal in trouble on the Sabbath. That is not breaking the Sabbath. He fulfilled the letter so that we may live by the spirit of the law.
It's impossible for God to sin. Steve knew that he was just saying according to the pharisees Jesus sinned. God cannot be disobedient to his own word as it is his word. He cannot sin against himself. Everything Steve said was true. He just didn't have the time to go further in depth. He touched on key points. If you notice Doug batchelr kept giving up the remainder of his time because he didn't have much else to say or scripture he could use to defend his point. I'll put it simply. Walk not by the flesh but by the spirit. What steve was trying to say is that everything is spiritual now. Just as Jesus changed the commanents. Thou shalt not kill. Before it was physically kill. Now it's commiting murder in your heart, spiritually commiting murder if you hold anger in your heart towards a brother. Same as the Sabbath. We get our spiritual rest whenever we need it. Our rest is eternally in Jesus. The ordinances were nailed to the cross with Jesus. All the ordinances of the old covenant. The new covenant is faith I. Jesus and that he complete all the work for us and by his blood and only his blood are we saved. Jesus commandments are what we are to keep and he gave no such command to keep the sabbath. Jesus is God. He is the word who became flesh. New testament. New covenant. New laws. Jesus is King
Doug was more into the flesh where as Steve was more into the spiritual side. When Jesus was talking spiritual sense to his disciples and even the teachers of the law they couldn't comprehend. A lot of people understand Dougs arguments because it was more into the flesh.
I use to practice the sabbath and the dietary laws given to israel until I found out that they don't apply to the church. The first books I read in bible were Old Testament...
Matthew 4:4 We are to live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God . The Sabbath commandment come from the Word of God and God commanded us to keep it . It's a simple gospel that only humans make it so complicated . We claim we love God but we pick and choose what suits us and what's not ? The good nature of God became flesh. Christ wasn't stating a question because he didn't know the answer. The rest of us strive for that mark in a natural truth and will positively "all fall short" trying to do good. And though it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath, only God could fulfill that.
Don't be afraid Steve spoke the truth Jesus was God in the old testament that wrote the laws, in order for humans and so called sabbath keepers who say they keep Gods 10 commandments are sadly mistaken. Why There are no perfect people. The 10 commandments show us how much we need a Savior and there is no persons on earth that could keep them. Remember there is one greater than Moses and that's JESUS

For example, the one about "Thou shalt not Murder" - if one looks at what Jesus defines murder, it is also including "Hating your brother in your heart" which I have done a million times. Also about the prohibition about committing adultery. Jesus also said that if I lust after a woman in my heart, I have broken this commandment. I have not really lusted after a woman, but have had homosexual lust after a man. So if I cannot obey the other 9 commandments. *My question, have you?* "Thou shalt not have any other gods" - how about Ellen White? She is an idol to so many adventists. Many would say that if you remover her from her pedestal, the SDA religion would not exist. How do I keep from breaking the other nine commands? I've already referred to three I've broken. @Mike Flanagan God Spoke in Deuteronomy 18:22 about someone who speaks in the name of the LORD, and it does not come to pass, not to be afraid of him..... it should have said *her* to refer to EGW - .... and it still holds in 1844 and so on forth... so I'm saying God's word has not changed about listening to false prophets or prophetesses. :). God's character never changes but that doesn't mean the law of Moses and all its rituals, sacrifices and the sabbath are still in effect!!!! Do you think Christians need to sacrifice animals to have a relationship with Jesus?
@@christophercoupe5006 I was merely referring to that moral law(the ten commandments) which are the same as the 2 Jesus emphasized in one word(LOVE)...love your God is the same as the first 4 and love your neighbor is the same as the last 6...You can't love your neighbor if you lie and/or still from him/her...and you can't love God if you have other gods...The point is the Sabbath is part of that moral law...and it makes sense overall if you think how Revelation mentions the thousand years of peace and how 1000 is like a day to the Lord and a day like 1000...BTW...the 10 commandments is not law of Moses...think about it...GOD wrote it down(twice) for Moses and his people...of course sacrificial law is dead and useless today...Jesus has done with it when HE was the supreme sacrifice once and for all(Lamb of God)...I suggest you search online bible the word Sabbath and read them...many verses say the Sabbath is the seal of God...a seal has: name, title and territory/dominion...the 4th commandment has all of these(God our Lord made/created heaven and earth...brings you back to Genesis 1 when He mentions the day of Sabbath/Rest)...Peace
@@danwithjesus I believe God put command #4 the sabbath in with the other 9 so it would be front and center with the Israelites. They had spent centuries in Egypt and adopted their idol worshipping paganism. They needed a special day set aside to remember and think about their God. The Church that was started on the day of Penticost didn't have this idol worship & paganism to deal with. The desciples were godly men who kept the law of Moses otherwise Jesus wouldn't have chosen them. Furthermore, because of the 3 year ministry of Jesus and His death on the cross & sending the Holy Spirit, everyone now had access to God the Holy Father. All they had to do now was pray or meet together and worship for access to God. They didn't need the sabbath to do these things. I can pray, read my bible & meditate on it, fast etc any day of the week. I don't need the sabbath and neither does any other Christian. It was replaced by God Himself!!!

What is the difference between moral and ceremonial laws, the Law of Moses and the Law of God? Are the Law of Moses and the Ten Commands abrogated? What law should we observe today? Should we "remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy" or meet on the first day of the week (Sunday)?
To whom was this referring? Please read in context. The gentiles never had any portions in God until Jesus Christ. Even the children of Israel couldn't keep the laws and they got scattered all over the world.
I'm hoping Steve Gregg will see this. Dear Steve, I appreciated your comments. Coming from your position, I can see why you believe what you believe. But I have a few questions for you. You mentioned that there is no reference of the law prior to Moses, and that we should not conjecture about what is not written. As Doug pointed out, the Bible does reference the law prior to Moses when it says Abraham kept the law (Gen 26:5) and it was counted as righteousness. But I believe that you were not being intellectually honest. I'm guessing someone who knows Scripture as you do is aware of the Oral Torah, which precedes the written Torah by many centuries. The Bible starts with Moses as its first author. So he begins with the history of the world using an economy of words. And Moses isn't writing in a vacuum. He is inspired by God, and writes based on present truth for his time. But as Israel is already aware by virtue of the priests, scribes, Levites, and from fathers around the family altar of the law that has existed for centuries. It's not necessary for Moses to state the obvious, and therefore the references to the law prior to Israel in Genesis are few. But they are understood. Israel is God's chosen for that time and as such were to share the truths of God which are as unchanging as God Himself (Mal. 3:6) with the rest of the world. It was through Abraham that all nations were to be blessed. What part of Abraham would bless the gentiles millennia later if it were not the truths of God as shared by him and his Jewish decedents? Even Christ stated, salvation is through Israel. That would apply to us as Samaritans (gentiles) even today (John 4:22). If there were no law prior to Moses, why did Cain suffer for changing God's offering into one he chose as acceptable? If God punishes Cain for changing the offering in the Old Covenant, but allows us to change one of the Ten Commandments in the New Covenant and doesn't punish us, wouldn't that be arbitrary? And why would Cain and Abel be offering at all if there were not law? Since sin is the transgression of the law, how could satan (purposely not capitalized) have sinned if there were no law? (Romans 5"12-14) Your mention that we should not conjecture is true. Where the Bible is silent, it's not for us to make up our own rule. Like someone who would say, "The Bible doesn't say I shouldn't smoke cigarettes, so..." It's an argument from silence, and one of the lower forms of logic. But isn't your argument that the New Testament doesn't advocate for keeping Sabbath just an argument from silence? Isn’t the onus and burden of proof upon you? It certainly doesn’t say to stop keeping Sabbath! If it were true that the New Testament were truly silent about keeping Sabbath, then the obvious reality would be to continue doing what God had ordained in the old covenant, even since creation. Like a soldier who obeys the last known directive when outside of communication. It makes so little sense to believe that there was a change in something as permanent as the Ten Commandments and no one, not even Jesus, mentioned it! The argument from silence is yours, not those who argue for the permanence of the Sabbath. Of course, there are references to Sabbath observance in the New Testament as Doug pointed out, so you really need to be more honest about that as well. You mention many times that the Sabbath was for Jews, and to be honest I don't entirely disagree. I say entirely, because there is always something lost in the definition. But as the Scripture points out from the words of Jesus our Savior, in John 4:22, salvation is of the Jews. We are Jews if we are Christ’s (Romans 2:28-29, and Romans 11:11-31). In fact Jesus states to the New Testament churches in Rev 2:9, and Rev 3:9 that anyone claiming to be a Christian would find themselves cast into satan's synagogue for lying about being a Jew. Since we are Jews, wouldn't the Sabbath apply to us? You mentioned that Adventists are not being intellectually honest when we say you cannot be saved by keeping Sabbath because we believe in the doctrine of the Mark of the Beast. And since Sunday observance is the way people will receive the Mark, keeping Sabbath is definitely a salvation issue. Your argument is missing a very important point. The Bible says we cannot earn salvation. Our righteousness is filthy, and from head to toe we are corrupt. Apart from Christ, there is no salvation! And we believe that as Seventh-day Adventists, just as our evangelical brothers and sisters. Where the misunderstanding comes in is - while you cannot be saved by your works, you can be lost by your works, so to speak. The doctrine among our evangelical brothers and sisters stating if we cannot be saved by works we cannot be lost by works is a carryover from the "if ...then" logic of grade school math. But it's not true in Scripture regarding salvation. Here's what Scripture says. Plan A was that God made us perfect, and told us to remain that way, and provided for us to be able to do that. So there is no punishment for perfection in righteousness. And ultimately, you could be saved by your works, but you have to be perfect from conception to death. How are you doing? The Bible says we failed before birth because we were conceived in sin. So apparently, plan A is not our best option. Choosing plan A means we will have to pay for our sin ourselves. Fortunately for us, God's love was so great that He gave us His Son, and provided for plan B. Plan B says that if you missed plan A (and we did) that we have the option of accepting Christ as Savior, and surrendering our lives to Him. We can live "in Christ." (Rom. 6:11, 8:1, 12:5). But living in Christ means letting go of sin and self. (1 John 1:5-7, 1 John 2:1-7). This by no means gives us license to sin. Quite the opposite. That would attempt to put sin "in Christ". We are called out of sin and darkness into HIs marvelous light. We have been "set free from sin", not set free to sin. Sin is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4). So while our only hope for salvation is in Christ, and in Him alone, we can choose against Christ and sin against Him. We cannot choose Christ and belial. We cannot choose Christ and continue in sin. No I am not saying we can have sinless perfectionism. No there isn’t room here to discuss imputed and imparted righteousness. But suffice it to say, if we continue to sin where the Holy Spirit has convicted us, we are choosing our own way instead of the “Narrow Path” you advocate, and by so choosing we will miss Heaven. By choosing to worship like Cain, using our own methods and device, and keeping a spurious law and Sabbath after the Holy Spirit has shown us truth, we will sin against the Holy Spirit, a sin for which there is no forgiveness (Mark 3:28-30). When impressed by the Holy Spirit, we are obliged to listen to truth. Anything else is rebellion. There are so many other points, but Doug aptly pointed out the most significant. The Sabbath is not a burden. It's a gift from God. It's a blessing, and a time set aside to be with our Creator. It is the way we love Him. Why wouldn't you want to keep it?
We are not becoming Jews as Christians? We are born-again children of the living God. Maybe I am misunderstanding you - but the Jews had their time to be the chosen nation .. the gave it away when they crucified the Messiah. Jesus rose from the grave so that everyone - from all nations - that are reborn through the Spirit, can be part of the new nation of Christ - called the church.
@Herman Burger We are the church indeed, however, we are also part of spiritual Israel which is why the 4th commandment still stands. This is a really good debate! Doug really explained sabbath and his sources are also from the Bible! It's true that let the Bible interpret itself! But steve also knows the sabbath but it looks like he's avoiding it like the sabbath is not relevant anymore, The law from the beginning will be kept until the end! The law will not change! Exodus 20:8, malachi 4:4, psalm 119:142, matthew 5:18, 1 john 5:3, john 14:15
When the word remember is used, it means that something must have first existed. Meaning the Sabbath was a law that was already there. Out of all the ten, people apparently have an issue with one which is a fulfilment of Daniel.
If you have not died to the law/sabbath you are holding onto a corpse. Good luck with that! Rom 7:4-6 (NIV) So, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God. For when we were controlled by the sinful nature, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, so that we bore fruit for death. But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
God was teaching the Israelites about the Sabbath before they were given the law at Sinai. It seemed to be that Steve was lying in this debate, but he probably doesn't care as he has a new covenant which doesn't have any rules. Pity.

That was a good debate, and I have go with Doug on this because the verses he used showed the truth. Hebrews Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 would have been an excellent addition to your position. You did a great job without them.
i read Hebrews chapter 3 and 4 .. its really an enlightening to those who harden their hearts on the sabbath day and find all the excuses on not keeping it.
Thanks so much, you cleared this up for me.... I now covenant to keep the Sabbath and not overdo it. But I have a problem with the other 9 commandments. I cannot keep them. For example, the one about "Thou shalt not Murder" - if one looks at what Jesus defines murder, it is also including "Hating your brother in your heart" which I have done a million times. Also about the prohibition about committing adultery. Jesus also said that if I lust after a woman in my heart, I have broken this commandment. I have not really lusted after a woman, but have had homosexual lust after a man. So if I cannot obey the other 9 commandments. *My question, have you?* "Thou shalt not have any other gods" - how about Ellen White? She is an idol to so many adventists. Many would say that if you remover her from her pedestal, the SDA religion would not exist. How do I keep from breaking the other nine commands? I've already referred to three I've broken. Doug said that if we break one, we have broken them all. Now, if I cannot keep three of the 10 (idolatry, Murder, adultery) perfectly, what is the use of trying to obey one more. How many things would I have to do to keep the Sabbath perfectly? I could not get into an elevator and press the button to go to my apartment - that would be lighting a fire. I could not kindle the lamp to read the Bible in the dark - that is work. I could not carry my Bible out of my house - that would be carrying a burden. How can I be told to keep the Sabbath when I cannot even keep the other 9 perfectly. I've disobeyed my parents by not honoring them, how do I do this now that I'm older. @@dayday3597 We are not to stay imperfect. Look at all theses verses about man becoming perfected by the father through Jesus Christ. But first understand to be perfect is not according what man says perfection is, But perfection is by following Gods commands. As long as you have done what God says a man should do and not done the things Gods word says we should not do, then you have walked perfect before the Lord. Its that simple Heb_6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Eph 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; The next verse says why God gave us those people above Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: He gave them for the perfecting of the saints. Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: They are to teach until we come unto a perfect man. Thats their job. Look at this next verse... Heb 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, ***Heb 13:21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. God will make you Perfect in every good work. 1Pe 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. It say God will make us Perfect by Jesus Christ. Yes we are all imperfect before we come to Christ, and after we come to Christ we are not to be doing the same of old imperfect life style that we were doing before we came to Christ.You cannot get into the kingdom of God if you are living a life of sin. Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Rev 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. Verse 14 notice who it is that gets to eat from the tree of life and get to walk through the gates into the city which is heaven. Verse 15 look who will not be able to walk into the gates into the city. Also notice this is the last book in the bible and almost the last verses in the bible, and all this is said after Christ death. Willful sinners will not get to walk through theses gates. @@billhildebrand5053 You cannot keep ANY of the commandments in your own power. We all must wholly depend on the righteousness of Christ and HIS power to keep the commandments. Our righteousness is as filthy rags. Only God can give us the power to keep His commandments. Our part is to allow Him to work in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

I love the way Brother Bachelor teaches the Sabbath from the Bible I enjoy theses program and such a humble soul. I am not a Sunday keeper even though I go to church on that day but since I studied about the Sabbath truth I learned things that were overlooked in Christian churches. I use to think the Sabbath is Jewish because of what was taught but my eyes are open to the truth. I feel the peace of God every time I learn to Granite bay Seventh day Adventist church on Sabbath. All theses wonderful truths that was lost to us is rediscovered.
Absolutely! As Christians we don't debate. Rather we have conversations among ourselves to discover hidden truths of the scriptures. This video models Christian behavior, in times when we don't always see "eye to eye".
