the thing is pharrell didn't care about it either, he didn't even want to sing on the records until jay z took his vocal demo and said "nope. we're keeping your vocals on" and that led him to becoming the face
@DJRashadHayes

@@ScottThePiscesnot true. He sang on Super thug in 98 and both The Neptunes were in the video. He also sang on Shake Ya ass for Mystikal. Jay had nothing to do with Pharrell becoming a star. Pharrell looked cool as hell in the videos and it helped the Neptunes image immensely. Jay hopped on for Just Wanna Love You when the Neptunes were already hot. It wasnt Jay’s idea to have Pharrell sing on songs lol.

um, Neptunes weren't a thing in 1992. Pharrell wrote Teddy Riley's verse for Rump Shaker but The Neptunes were never involved in anything regarding Wreckx n Effects production - that's all Teddy Riley. Pharrell told that straight during Drink Champs appearance. After that they went through Bad Boy sweatshop and really emerged in the scene in 1998-99 with productions for Noreaga, Mase and ODB and that's when Kelis debuted whose first two albums were more or less a Neptunes showcase and only after that they got their footing in pop and the rest is well known.

@sagcap7927
@sagcap7927 7 месяцев назад
Inside sources says, the neptunes as a production duo split over publishing percentages. Things start getting a little uneven between the two. Depending on the work put into the production and writing credits. Pharrell got bigger chunks due to his input. And the agreement was 50/50 no matter what, from the beginning. But things changed. That’s from two sources. It was said that Chad really didn’t see an issue with that. There was no hard feelings between the two. Because of technology changes and production equipment being more mobile and personal, plus downsizes. It caused them to eventually work on music totally separate. Pharrell just took more opportunities than Chad in the long run, plus hustled a little more and got more placements. But is there a bad bone between the two? Not til this day.

I love just yelling STAR TRAK. Even the Star Trak logo is so hip and cool. The three best songs the Neptunes/Pharrell Williams ever made in order 1) The Clipse "Grindin" 2) Snoop Dogg "Drop It Like It's Hot" 3) Gwen Stefani "Hollaback Girl"

The reason why Pharrell is doing way more aside from music should be obvious with the absence of Chad Hugo at the helm

he has done more successful solo work by himself than Chad has on his own. i don't know what you thought but it's not obvious lol.

@@KMcirca82 don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying P wasn’t no slouch. I LOVED In My Mind, but even mentioned in this vid, that his solo works couldn’t match what he did with the Neptunes (so you’re wrong about that part). AND he wouldn’t be able to do the solo work he did WITHOUT his experience with Chad. Personalities obviously completely different and it’s Chad’s prerogative to do wtf he wants in his life. Same with P. Except Chad doesn’t relish in the public eye. And trust me, Chad is doing MORE than well these days.

Chad was the Mastermind behind the scenes but most people are blinded by P's present in the limelight....

It makes me laugh that to become a fashion icon, only takes the ability to wear overpriced clothes made in sweatshops.

I know them personally, they all grew up with my children’s family and I remember when they was locking everyone up left and right. That mess was crazy.

In my mind was unsuccessful if you wasnt outside at the time.. that was a interesting time... That Bape IceCream Billionaire Boys Club era was different... Bape would drop a hoody and have 5 total in the USA with just a store in NYC AND Japan... and that was pharrell like 3rd run... talk about EXCLUSIVITY 💯💯💯

The Neptunes have produced so many hits for other artist and made great music for everyone to listen to and to me Pharrell wanted to be in the limelight more then Chad. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017 to find me.

As much as I feel the Neptunes are amongst the greatest producers ever like many producers and/or artists they don’t know how to run a label and are/were terrible ceo’s

As for hip hop duos that are brothers: Run DMC, Project Pat and Juicy J, Master P and Silk da Shocker, Layzie and Flesh n Bone.

You forgot Rosco P Coldchain and Fam-Lay. Star Trak coulda been what Alchemist's school of rappers, Roc Marciano, and Griselda are today with their street rap. And that's on the strength the Clipse, Fam-lay, and Rosco P Coldchain. Their rap arm was truly ahead of it's time.

A talent show wasnt how they got discovered! The Neptunes Pharrell & Hugo went to Teddy's on their bikes everyday and would be paying their music instruments outside the gate of Teddy's mansion everyday. Untill Teddy said F it and let them in and the rest was history.
