I honestly think this is Rockstars version of the Kennedy family, seems as they both are Irish families and how they all die, except Packie, and Gerry.
Packie's mother must have definitely passed away of a broken heart and natural causes, because of how she lost most of her children to the criminal world and how her children literally had their lives messed up by their father hurting and influencing them but most importantly her.....Poor lady

Niko’s story was pretty sad. But you gotta admit, the McReary family had a really depressing turn of events in GTA IV. Derrick is dead. Francis and Kate can be killed. Packie can be killed in GTA V. Gerry is in jail for 50 years. Land of opportunity.
The only confusing part was the fate of Gerald McReary. Why that is is because there’s a possibility he may have escaped from prison because of the prison riot the Lost MC Started when they went to kill Billy Grey.
Gerald was arrested pretty late in the game while the Lost and Damned took place before and in the early part of the main story. So the prison riot probably happened before Gerald went inside.
@@RD-ht6goJohnny was part of the Libertonian Museum Diamond deal, which happened after Gerald got put in jail. But then there was a mission where they have to kidnap Roman Bellic and take him to the Russians, which references the one of the early-game mission where Niko saves Roman from the warehouse. I’m pretty sure GTA TLAD begins from early GTA IV and ends to late GTA IV, where in the beginning, Gerald isn’t in jail, to the end, where he is in jail, which in the end of course, the prison riot
Patrick “Packie” McReary is alive in 2020, and can be chosen as a gunman in ‘The Diamond Casino Heist’. And GTA Online’s DLC missions are after V’s story.
Seems like Packie & Niko lost connections & grew apart after GTA IV when he moved to Los Santos. In the paleto score heist he says he's got no idea what became of Niko.
@@pyr1412 Maybe he went legit after the events of GTA IV , with Roman and his cab business , now that everyone who stood in his way is dead , they both can take a deep breath
MRBrizer I think he works in Roman’s cab business. In story mode Jimmy is talking to Niko in Lifeinvader. I hope Niko and Roman are rich and the cab business is successful like CJ.
Love how their birthyears are mentioned! The mother was born in 1935, Derrick was born in 1956, Francis was born in 1963, Gerald was born in 1973, Packie was born in 1979, and Kate was born in 1980!!! A lot of cool info on the McCreary family!

If my memory serves me correctly, I think it was the mission before “Three Leaf Clover” or Three Leaf Clover mission, where Packie is talking about how his family, and/or the first Irish settlers came to Liberty City and became the first Irish gang in Liberty City. It’s a really neat dialogue and also, there is also a movie called “Gangs of New York”, that’s about what Packie is talking about. It’s a very great film and one of my top 5 films.
I just played the mission and all he talked about was how his family used to be at the top and everyone was scared of them. But they’re are different sets of dialogue so IDK

Leone Crime Family =/= Leone Family. In Leone Family tree we have Salvatore Leone (born in 1935 - assassinated in 2001 by Claude), Salvatore’s first unnamed wife with whom he moved from Sicily to Liberty City, US and died before 1992 (somewhere between his movement in LC and San Andreas event), Joseph “Joey” Leone, the only Salvatore’s son from his first marriage (born 1969), Salvatore’s unnamed brother (his fate is unknown), Salvatore’s parents (both deceased), Salvatore’s uncle (born possibly in 1929), Maria Latore, second unhappy trophy wife of Salvatore (born possibly in 1974/1975 - possibly died in 2001 by Claude), Maria’s unnamed sister, her sister’s husband and her 2 kids (her nephews or nieces, or nephew and niece).
Fact AND theory: *Gerald incarcarated. *Niko killing Francis is canon. *Derrick died of an obvious drug overdose. *Kate is dead (Revenge ending is canon). *Mother died of a broken heart (and old age). *Packie moved to Los Santos after the events of the main game at the end of 2008!!
It's more than likely that Rockstar originally intended for the real death to be Francis but changed their minds by giving you the choice mission and having sparing Francis give you benefits similar to killing Playboy X, and then further wanted to illustrate that point by canonically having Derrick dead via Packie's dialogue in GTA V which of course was made after IV

Rob TZ it’s canon it wasn’t in the beginning and was set b4 the events of story mode but then they caught it up in the time line b/c jimmy is seen in the casino heist cutscenes b/c Lester hires him to work at your arcade and Lester tells you he’s a family friend so you or Lester can’t fire him.
What if packie sent his mom to retire in vice city, you know how on a couple radio commercials they mention vice city is where alot of old people are retired, and since almost all her kids are dead or in prison she would be alone in liberty city,since packie left her and moved to LS I would be surprised if she's a small side character in gta6, in a retirement home in vice city
She would already pass away and it would be a broken heart i no this cause I myself work in a nursing home and my used to work in a nursing home near Newark
What if Francis was spared? What if after Kate's death, the mother decided that she wanted nothing to do with Packie anymore? And what if that, combined with his own personal guilt and shame, lead Packie to Los Santos? What if the mother is still alive and being looked after by Francis?
@@willcardona7712 most likely the canon, since Roman is canonically alive, that means Kate is dead, and I don't think Packie would leave his mother if the drug addicted Derrick was alive rather than Francis because there would be no one to look after her if Francis was dead
There is a very weird thing about Mr. McReary (husband of Maureen and father of all McReary siblings). It is mentioned that he committed a lot of crimes during his lifetime and even was fugitive, not to mention that he was incarcerated, presumably more than once. Despite this, he has no entry in LCPD database and his first name is never revealed. This is very serious oversight on Rockstar part. Besides, it would have been very interesting if he had an entry in LCPD database and his name was David McReary while his date of birth would have been 1930.

The weird thing about the funeral is, that if francis is killed, that this is not a cop's funeral, there are no cops to shoot the guns in the air for his passing or pay respects etc.
Packie is still alive in GTA Online, you can use him as your gunman in Diamond Casino Heist. But the sad thing is Rockstar used his storymode dialouges when you rescue him and his partner during a robbery gone wrong.
Gerry is in the pen, Derrick is drunk, Frankie is dead, Kate as well, Packie is the only one left to take care of his ma. Sad. I did the revenge ending and previously chose to kill Frankie.
Kind of sad really. I hope we see packie again. Although I get a feeling in gta 6 we will see other gta 4 characters return. Like Jacob or depending on who you kill. Dwayne or playboy
I think if you keep Francis alive, he might be the one taking care of his Ma after Packie left for Los Santos. Or maybe she died of old age between GTA IV and GTA V storyline.

Kate survives the wedding shooting, when you beat the game you will get a call from her in the hospital telling you that’s she’s fine but that she does not want to be friends with you any more, this gets rid of the idea that packie left because of his mother’s passing because she still has kate
Oh, that't an interesting but where is this information from? Just for curiosity, not mention to offer you. Packie is my favorite character of GTA IV but I also like Kate and it was really crappy when she was killed,
What about when you and up choosing to do the deal with Jimmy pegorino and some bald guy kills Roman than that means Kate Packie and Gerald and either Fracis or Derrick is still alive and maybe Marine
@@MerlautJones ahahah it could be funny sometimes but mostly it's just silly cringy, still good development character also Gay Tony, we now gonna have to see what R* does without his main writter, i just want a good story, with good backgrounds and character development, not just clitches and stereotypes like GTAV
Poor Packie. I had no other choice but to send him to the Altruist Cult because I had no idea how to trigger the mission, and Packie was the last random character I could ever find to trigger it lol.
This game turns 13 years old today. It is sad what happens to the McRearys. Gerry is locked up in jail, Derrick dies from overdose, Francis is a crooked cop and is not close with the family, Packie is a gangster, and Kate is the the saint of the family, very innocent and pure. Francis and Kate were the normal ones without a criminal record, and could have broken the cycle.
Francis is close to his mom, but not with anyone else in the family. I think he is still alive and looking after his mother. While Packie is away at Los Santos.
@@ppavankumar2903 I believe so. But I'm biased. I have strong feelings about the outcomes of each decision, based on how it plays out, dialogue, and tone afterward. Meaning, Derrick's death to me feels like it carries much more weight. And content wise, while Frankie's burial is eventful, the spot where Derrick gets buried is much more meaningful imo. With that, Frankie left alive will give you an ability which you can call into. To me that felt like when you kill Playboy X and all of a sudden you have a new house and some homies (shout out Jordan) to really back up your decision.
@@InnerCityX I am stuck on this part of the mission and am not able to progress as I want to know like which is the best option, cause in one way killing Derrick feels Canon as pac says Derrick died (people say Derrick died due to drug overdose but it's not been shown like that anyway so can't say that) during gta v heist, and Derrick has a death dialoge/cutscene from Francis,he also betrayed his pals which lead to there arrest and Gerald doesn't care for derry in his missions which makes me think killing Derrick is Canon On other hand the mcrary family doesn't care for Francis and his funeral missions says so And he is a bully cop who made us do his dirty work Fk lol hard choice
I think the McReary family are great characters, never seen anything like these guys in a video game before. Pretty sure the Irish mob aren't really featured in any games before GTA 4 (could be wrong though). The fact that they were a bunch of violent and unstable gangsters and one crooked cop with a religious mother was great and authentic. I liked how Kate was honest and respectable but still understood her brothers (and Niko) in many ways and wasn't truly judgemental. I like how they probably had the capability to be a powerful organization if they wanted to but instead blew their money on women, booze and drugs and had resorted to being little more than hired muscle for the Mafia (and not even one of the five Liberty City families; but the small-time and second-rate Alderney Mob). The whole game is great in my opinion and the McRearys were very memorable and Niko's involvement with them was one of the best parts of the story I believe
Am I the only one who notices how Kate (unknown caller) calls Niko from time to time to go out on a date, AFTER she is dead and the story is complete? Am I the only one who notices that?
Fun fact: EVEN if you decide to kill Derrick,he will be still alive. how do I know? In GTA V's cab company of Franklin he will come to l.S for a heist and then he comes back home
The McReary’s could have been the most interesting characters in the GTA Series. This is because they could have lived throughout the whole series. But we basically never hear from them again besides Packie for a little bit in GTA 5. But who knows, maybe Rockstar will make GTA 6 about the former and past life’s of the McReary’s, which would be very interesting.
I’m doing a revisit and completing the storyline of gta 4 again and so far Francis gone, one in prison, and Kate near dead, packie I think is hilarious and if he dies ima be sad
