It's a very tricky subject... I totally resonate personally with your assessment of such content. However the old saying "I may not agree with or like what you have to say but I'll defend your right to say it" really does define what that right means... As to the fact that they're introducing legislation to prevent lyrics to be used as evidence in court, I do believe that any court case should hinge on the merits of the evidence presented to prove wrong doing, not wrong speaking however hideous it may be

I think the success of the explicit content has a lot to do with just American culture in general. I can look at any Era of film or music, the most popular acts are always going to be the controversial ones, and generationally, it has to get more extreme and younger people are always going to be drawn to the most extreme assuming that it doesn't completely cross the line into taboo. In film, it's the actors that portray the anti-hero or villian, or the character itself. Elvis in the 60s, Ozzy in the 80s, NWA in the 90s, Em; in film Scarface, the Joker, Godfather, Clint Eastwood....just some examples off the top, I think people have a longing to be the bad guy and they can do it vicariously through the most extreme media of the time. My question is, how far into the darkness will future artists travel before they reach the line?
