in the manga, tanya goes thru strategic command and wants to talk to the two generals about this, they have time to wipe out the rest of the republican navy, but the HQ and all the generals on all front are busy partying and ignored her calls/talks, only the colonel(the one who hates her at first) listen to her but have no power to grant her decision...at the end of this it will blown out to be a world war where the allied(america) and russia decided to take a battle against the empire, the two generals just thought the what if "they grant tanya to wipe the republicans" that time, they could have enjoyed peace, but now theyre taking on a much bigger war against the entire world...and still have to battle the republicans who fleed down south(they talk it here about the territory of the republicans outside the republic)...and weiss is the second in command not the other girl... youre gonna ask why its blown into an all out war against the world?its started on what they did to arene... in the manga its a massacre what they did to arene, they basically wiped out all people there...they found the loophole that they can kill all the people there granted that they have evidence that the civilians are militia of republicans(the video where a imperial soldier run out of the church and got shot by civilians) tanya and her soldier recorded a video from that to basically say that they are not civilians but militia(they recorded multiple videos of that happening in arene) the imperial soldiers who got captured basically taunted the militia into killing them to provide videos... flash forward...thats why they need to wipe out all republican soldiers who knew what happen there...its basically got leaked to the other nations and even neutral nations like america decided to intervene and goes into war against the empire, because on what they did broke multiple laws and proceeded to classified it as inhuman, the whole world is enrage by this...

@@theum2138 not necessarily...even in our real world, america wouldnt considering joining the war until they found out about those concentration camps that proves the inhuman things done by the nazi, remember they didnt bat an eye when the jews are fleeing germany, most of the nation even ignore them and wont grant them passage except for the few like philippines whose the first to grant jews citizenship... i think its the same here, if america(allied) didnt found out about this they wouldnt go into war with the empire...the government just had to because of the outcry of the citizens for justice... the empire have a truce with other nations that they wont go to war so the ally doesnt really need to go into war with them and the empire itself dont want to extend the war...

As far as I could remember from the manga, no matter how morally challenging the empire's actions are they are all within international laws. Even after the war, there are multiple debates but generally concluded that as well. The other countries would inevitably interfere logically (as explained by Tanya) or not (being X's invisible hands). That's just about "breaking multiple laws" tho and I last read it a year ago so any corrections are appreciated. Edit: also wasn't the partying and Tanya and Colonel's talk happened next episode? Tanya's speech about human nature was animated very well.

I'm not sure if I just didn't hear it but, I feel like none of the people got the parallels with Germany and the French Navy during WW2.

there's a lot of references to multiple wars in this series, not just WW2.... even more than WW1 as well. In fact, the guy nicknamed as "Loliya" (who gets shown in the movie) was actually a real person, but with different credentials.
