One minute Kenty whinges that player are overpaid then he is whinging that he is taking less. I think its fair offer from Souths its the raiders that are paying him overs which is why half the clubs are in trouble
His continual defence for ricky and the raiders has clearly become overly personal. Kenty being there number one supporter will even turn raiders fans away
So roosters signed spencer leniu 3 months ago an questions about there cap Also , just because raiders offered overs doesn’t mean that he is worth that Fix the system, don’t blame the Rabbitohs
Soccer is the number 1 sport in the world rugby league sucks very badly mbappe is so fast and there’s no Addo-Carr so what is rugby league without that soccer is big in 250 countries and rugby league only in 4 losers
But still what? It’s fair to investigate it? I personally think it’ll be cleared but someone taking a $300,000 per year paycut is abnormal and can’t trust it just on face value surely.
@@davidmcdonald3780 its not crazy for him to take less for a better chance at winning a comp it happens in other sports with older players all the time
If Jack wants to take a pay cut that is his decision, ultimately it is affecting him & only him. So if he wants to do that who cares what anyone else says/thinks, wants to win a comp and the Raiders are miles off that.

@Erik sometimes winning trumps making money, he was already on a good wicket. Why not go somewhere with a chance of winning for more money that he was on but not as big as what he was offered?
Truth. The funny thing is, if they kicked him, this show wouldn't lose any viewers and the game wouldn't lose absolutely anything. The level of ego and mates in good places is absolutely backwards and amateurish
Kenty: So he's gonna forgoe $2000 cash in the hand every week. Me: If I was making $700k a year I wouldn't have any complaints or financial worries the rest of my life. At that money who cares about 2k.
Where was all this righteous indignation when the Roosters signed 3 marquee players (Sonny Bill Wiliams, Michael Jennings and James Maloney) at the beginning of the Roosters 2013 premiership winning season? Matty Johns spoke to an anonymous NRL salary cap official, who valued that at over $4.5 mill over the NRL salary cap based on market value. Where was it when the Roosters were over the salary cap by at least another $2 mill when they had Tedesco $1.1 mill, Crichton $1 mill, Cordner $850K, Friend $650K, Keary $650K, Morris $500K, Hall $500K, Latrell $450K, Manu $400K and JWH $350K? $6.4 mill of a $9.4 mill 30 player salary cap, almost 70% of their 30-player salary cap on 10 players! No one questioned the Roosters then or since. Why?
I genuinely believe the Roosters have been cheating the salary cap every year in the salary cap era. Nick Politis has so much influence in the Australian media that no one challenges him or the Roosters. You need investigators from overseas (i.e. US or UK) to investigate the Roosters and Politis’ financial records.
The honest reality is that the salary cap system doesn’t work (entirely) when players will take less to go to some clubs but will demand to be paid more to go to others.
Kent is one of the most biased journos in the game especially when a mate is involved. Was on trying to start an upbrawl a few weeks ago because Ivan said that the panthers beating the raiders was Karma.

Love how they don’t understand winning a comp is the pinnacle of sports, yes it’s not set in stone but you need to give yourself the best chance! Plus jacko is a proud black fulla so Redfern is the perfect place for him and the brothers. He loves being around his brothers and that’s when you play your best footy when you are enjoying it
You reckon all the best players should just play for the team they see winning a premiership? That’d make great football whilst clubs like West Tigers, St George, Titans and Eels have been struggling for years. Jack should’ve been a proud one club player and bring attention and inspiration to the youth of his culture there after everything the club had done for him with his troubles outside of the game and remaining loyal to him and helping him through it (even before he was a rep football player.) But end of the day it’s his decision just not a very admirable one.
@@joeblow1711 Kent’s always so pressed when something happens to Canberra/Ricky. Something makes me think maybe he’s apart of their salary cap cause I thought if he wasn’t for his job he would need to be unbiased
I like Jack and his a gun player but Raiders should just sit him for the rest of the year. He’s basically said I can’t win with you lot so I’m gonna join a better team!
Hey @kenty, will we see the same outrage next time the Roosters sign a decent player without losing much or will you roll out the usual defense “players wanna play for less there”
@@danielkelly4487 not bagging the roosters here. Just the media coverage and the double standards in the reporting. They signed Dom Young for less then what Newcastle offered, (don’t think he’s the greatest) but Kent’s outrage here is that Wighton signed for less then what Canberra offered, but when the Roosters announced the young signing, or any other signings it’s because they are happy to accept less to play there. Also doesn’t help Ricky’s his best mate, so you have to question his motives here
@@richardwalsh6623 dom young singed for 100 k less not 300 k he also didn’t give up 90 k in origin payments or in young’s case playing for the pommies . Kentys more saying that questions need to be asking around the cap and why he took 300 k less potentially 400 k less which he is correct . The fact is all club use third party incentives just some do it better and has been done for years some just do it better then others but the joke is on the roosters all the time but if you go through there roster they have more players who debuted through there club then most clubs
@@danielkelly4487 less money is still less money, and I’d say based on the size of both players contracts 100 k for dom is comparable to 300k for Wighton.
Kenty's love affair with Ricky Stuart continues. Sorta getting to a point where they should just get a room and be done with it. Kenty is a bit of a spud to be honest. Hoops is the only one spitting facts.
He wants to win a Premiership. Nothing wrong with that! Kenty would have given out if he signed for the Dolphins for more money. You can't win with that lad.
If this was the Roosters and they had signed Jack Wighton , the reaction would have been absolutely biblical. It would have been the end of the world in regards to how do the Roosters always seem to pick up great players . Well because it's Souths Ricky Stuart has thrown the baby out with the bath water. However in saying that Ricky has no right to put South Sydney through the ringer . The guy has given Canberra over 10 years of. Loyal service . He wants to win a premiership . I can tell you one thing To have Cody Walker latrell Mitchell and Jack together will be absolutely devastating .
You mention Cody Latrell n Jack thats still no garentee their going to win a comp , but a awesome treble to have in any team, will see how it turns out.
@@lorrainevanvliet9930 I'm pretty sure if they would have kept Adam Reynolds the bunnies would have already one another premiership. What was the narrative , because of his age we can't afford a 3 year deal Or how the tables turn , they sign Jack wighton for 4 years !

Kenty had the dumbest argument. He is upset about Jack taking a pay cut. What the hell has that got to do with Kent? It's jacks life he can do whatever he wants to do lol
How is Kenty so mad? They should be applauding a player happily taking less to attempt to win a GF. Especially given the way players butcher contracts these days for a pay cheque.
PK takes anything that has to do with Sticky and the Raiders personally. Deemed valuation 🤦🏽♂️ if the man wants to take less, what does it have to do with anyone else??? What makes them think that this argument will make him stay??? If he wants out then he wants out…. If he cant go to souths then he will just go to the Dolphins.
Ricky Stuart’s propaganda mouthpiece is Paul Kent. Any issue that involves Stuart, you can bet Kent will spin it to suit Stuart’s agenda. Both are absolute flogs.
As Kent ever spoken about salary cap queries with the "Rooters" in his career as a sporting journalist? Like most people I find his rants about anything in league more an act than serious journalism, have a few more beers at the Garry Owen hotel, and actually listen to locals rather than blather on.
Kenty was way out of line here, should have been more respectful about it at this point there is zero evidence of anything. Say it once then hold your tongue till more comes out then be like I told you so if that's how you wanna be but that was unprofessional
Can you blame him for leaving? Who wants to live in Canberra and they’re so far off a premiership. He will have a far better lifestyle in Sydney surrounded by Latrell and Cody and they’ll probably get the best footy out of him too. Not a south’s fan but sometimes you need a good work/life balance
Kenty has had a stinker here. Wighton is taking a pay cut to win a comp what’s wrong with that. If anything, it allows Canberra to spend more on a player.

Unless every team magically had the exact some odd of Winning the comp - players are gonna ask for less or more money depending on which club they’re going to
What is being missed is that at a team like souths he gets to the end of 4 years I believe still playing reasonable footy at that price but an Canberra the way he carries that team there is no way he plays good footy the last 2 years esp at 1mil. Imagine in the 4th year all the pundits saying he is not playing like a mil a year llayer
Soccer is the number 1 sport in the world rugby league sucks very badly mbappe is so fast and there’s no Addo-Carr so what is rugby league without that soccer is big in 250 countries and rugby league only in 4 losers
Wighton would already be very comfortable financially. He would be in the top 1% of earners in Australia for his age range. 700-800-900k a year for the next 4 years is still a ridiculous amount of money. He is trading the difference for a genuine shot at a premiership, instead of letting his career wind down at the Raiders on an inconsequential extra amount of money and then spend the rest of his life regretting the fact he never won a ring.
You are so right, if he was on $900k a year with raiders for the last couple years well he has earned 10 years of a average Australians salary in just 1 year. If he was smart with his money, he would have himself and his family set up for life already. People say they have to take as much as they can because it’s a short career but realistically some of these good players earn in a 10 year career what people wouldn’t earn for their entire life plus more. I don’t see a issue with him taking the pay cut to have a better chance at accomplishing something he only has maybe 4 years left in his life to achieve. Money isn’t everything when you have the money they have.
@@liamjames6876 Yep. Kenty's outrage was kind of lost on me. He couldn't wrap his mind around the fact someone would take less money, and seemed to be suggesting that there is breach of the salary cap... as though there MUST be a paperbag deal to make up the difference. He just genuinely couldn't believe Wighton would cop the loss for a chance at a premi.
So, I player that would cost the Raiders/Dolphins $1,300,000 a season will only cost Souths $700k. There's no hope anymore for the middle-low table teams, we simply cannot compete. The NRL needs to find a way to tier the salary cap based on ladder positions (or something similar).
That's a fair point, but on the other hand, the Dophins are going pretty well (so far) with the team they have - and having failed to land all the big marquee players they've gone after. It could be that Money Ball is the way to go. Hiring for analytics and stats rather than reputations. Wighton is not helping Canberra out of their funk, and they're an established team.
@@elrey8876 I agree mate, definitely the Moneyball method. It's hard to balance though - marquee signings put bums in seats. Then again, so does success. With the NRL there will always be winners and losers, I just wish the gap between those two wasn't so vast.
The third parties and the extra gravy that's only available to a few clubs means that the other clubs are hampered by the salary cap rather than helped
Nobody seems to mention maybe he's just sick of Ricky and he's coaching methods and ability most coaches with Ricky's record over the last 4 or 5 years would have there job in serious daubt
They complain when players sign for more money at bad clubs because it shows "a lack of ambition", they complain when players sign for less money at better clubs...

It will be interesting to see what the NRL contract auditor decides Jack Wighton is actually worth on the open market. Everyone understands that players should earn what they can during a relative short career and if they move to a rival club for more cash good luck to them. Think something smells rotten if Souths have secured Wighton for 800 to 900k a season, with no further incentives involved apart from playing with his 'good mates'. Pure economics indicates that Jack Wighton has robbed himself and his family potentially 900k?!

where do you get a 900k loss from? its like 300k over 4 years...hes set for life and would rather go for a once in a lifetime achievement than extra money..fair
@@evs87 media are now reporting Wighton will lose $700,000 over the course of four years to link with the Bunnies, that's before tax. Some say the Raiders offered 1.1 or 1 million a season. Anything between 700k to 900k is still a huge number.

if wighton takes less money thats on him and shouldn't matter to any one. he wants to play with his aboriginal brothers since he has a bond with them through origin, and wants to win a comp. the last few years the marque players contracts have gone up by 100k each year. if it's within the cap then it's fine. this is the raiders fault and shot themselves in the foot. it's a business about results. what kent is saying about wighton's worth is true. NRL determine a players worth, what they should be valued at and even which clubs can afford them. NRL has so much say in that which is ridiculous. example SBW when he returned to chooks after 2014 NRL determine his value and that only roosters, eels and 1 or 2 other clubs were eligble. Wighton will be a centre at rabbitiohs. kent is delusional.
Salary Cap is Supposed to bring the Competitive Natureof Our game Out, with Great Players distributed amongst All Teams to Improve those Teams simple but misused.
Exactly Kent you don’t have any proof!! The guy wants to go to another team!! Why are you putting your values which is clearly all about $$$$$$$$$ on him!
When the US elections were on, I was very entertained by Donald Trump and his comedy speeches. Then he got beat and it became boring. Enter Paul Kent for entertainment value hahaha... Like, isn't it a players prerogative to choose his own salary??? The guy just wants to win a comp to fulfill his NRL career and he believe's that window has closed at the Raiders!!
Kenty has never won a premiership and it shows ….. being indigenous and the chance to be IN an indigenous club winning a ring with his LITERAL cousin Lattrell is worth more than 100k a year when your making 400k anyway
You go back to when the roosters sign Cooper and James Tedesco Paul Kent nuffn and halfway through 2018 the roosters sign Angus Crichton for 2019 and he said nothing even his 2020 during covert with SBW comes back to the roosters and again he said nothing now south get Jack wighton now he makes a big song and dance about it Im so sick of the way the medium members turn a blind eye to the roosters it a joke
All this arguing and BS over Wighton when he’s not even in the top 2 or 3 tiers of the current player base. And imagine if Souths don’t even win a comp with him? Or the Raiders do? The Raiders aren’t just pushovers every week, it’d be real funny if the Raiders had a crazy “Wests Tigers” moment and won the comp while Jack is at Souths.
Crazy he signed with them to win a premiership but Raiders are higher on the ladder than the bunnies right now. Maybe should have signed with the Sharks or Parra. Broncos, Storm and Panthers wouldn't take him as they have very strong halves already. His a better option than Moylan and Brown if he took a pay cut.
