That segment about QB play being over-schemed is such a great insight. Even audibles are just a simple kill to another predetermined play based on the defensive look. The QB's you named had a certain swagger that you don't see as much anymore. They were bosses while today's QBs are more akin to employees. Mahomes is a perfect example of a modern QB that still has that moxy and is willing to go off-schedule. I truly believe Brock has that in him as well.

Rams ran the SAME run play 4 times (at least), and broke through the defensive line every time (including scores). Defensive coordinator and whoever calls formations on the field FAILED. We had that game won. Moody failed, then special receivers failed (the ball was THERE), then D failed. ALSO, O line SUCKS, in protecting Purdy, who made super plays with his legs. This kind of CRAP protection will result in him getting injured. MAN UP!One thing about not throwing to Aiyuk: HE HASN'T BEEN AT PRACTICE, not with his contract negotiations, so he and Purdy are probably not comfortable yet (also I'm not sure Brock threw because he didn't know Aiyuk's route).

I was very impressed with Purdy to me he did his job as the OL failed him he made accurate throws and scrambled his ass off so he wouldn't get a sack and gained yards. I also give Jennings a lot of credit I can't say much for BA

Kyle needs to let the coaches know there is an active search for players and coaches unless things turn around fast. This is not a 53 man 49er roster. This looked like a first preseason game in effort from special teams. So far we are only getting 1 1/2 quarters of run blocking after that the O line looks overdue for retirement.

No can’t fix it. Too many injuries. The in and out holdouts. No speed by defensive backs. Lack of vigor by head coach. Lack of other coaches doing their jobs. Too much to overcome. This is a lost season.

This team historically struggles the first few weeks of the year. This is to be expected, specially if you consider that there was 2 holdouts (Trent and Aiyuk), a new DC and their best player (CMC) injured. They should turn this around soon…

I would say that Purdy didn't throw that easy pass to ayiuk because he had already dropped to many passes

Kyle explained it. The Rams Corner broke coverage, and because of that Aiyuk changed the route to fill the open space. Brock noticed Aiyuk wasn't where he was suppose to be, found him on the go route, figured out that the coverage broke down, but could not see where the Rams safety was, so he chose not to throw it.

"Y" I'm concerned. Watching them play in person yesterday I could see the fall off on Defense. Our pass defense sucks! And the Rams targeted the weak links...repeatedly! Purdy had 1 miss, that was not seeing BA running free down the middle. Purdy must have run 50 yards back and forth on that play and Aiyuk never did raise his hand to draw attention. Purdy was looking short to the TE, not at Aiyuk and when he scrambled to get a view of the field, that door was closed. Those two defensive players you highlighted were the difference as well as Bell's stone hands. Lets not forget that 3rd round pick of a kicker that has a big leg but can't hit a clutch kick to save his life!! His accuracy pre-game sucked! And when it counted....you know the rest.

The good news is that even without Deebo and CMC, and an at best average performance from #11, Purdy still looks sharp, and the offense with whomever is put out there (minus Bell), looks great. It looks like the Super Bowl Hangover still in full bloom with the Defense and special teams. Also, regarding the receivers getting separation. The routes may be either too long to develop, or Purdy might not be having enough time to throw. We also might want to consider they went against one of the best defensive minded coaches in the Super Bowl, and likely that film is being passed around the nfl as well. Lets face it, the D line has not been the same since Deforest Buckner left, and now Armstead. The D will figure it out though. And we are still without Greenlaw for a few more games. Maybe at the trade deadline, if the Broncos are out of it by then, perhaps a call to Denver, for Patrick Surtain.........just a thought.

I was at the game yesterday and I was so embarrassed by the performance by the 49ers. This team should not be playing to this low level. This team is so surprising and unpredictable. Every week a few players play outstanding and then other players play like they are not serious. The 49ers better get it together. Aiyuk is definitely not focusing. Does he have a vision concern?

Kyle needs to let the coaches know there is an active search for players and coaches unless things turn around fast. These are the same issues we had in both Super Bowls. San Francisco will build a lead but in the second half Mahomes would own the third downs and special teams drops muffs and missed field goals. This is not a 53 man 49er roster. This is alarm bell time. their record doesnt matter, it is who they lost to that is setting off alarm bells. Defense cannot defend the deep ball, Dline cannot get to the QB. Special teams is abysmal on that punt and Moody chokes when the FGs matter. O-line needs a complete rework. Tarnished a GREAT game by Purdy and JJ

Never had these offense and defense problems by 49ers until new coaches were hired. Special teams was never perfect, but now they are really bad. Sorensen was a poor choice.

The problem NFL franchise owners are dealing with is greedy corporate NFL player agents. Paying a few players 20 to 50 million dollars or more per season makes it difficult to motivate the other players who are making 20 times less money than them. I think there should be a limit to how much one player can make per season and raise the salary of all players to a higher limit like 1 million dollars per year.

Offense no I'm not concerned seeing how well Brock Mason and juwan Jennings played. That front line was giving Brock so much time . Defense yes I'm worried because once again corners are getting burned and the safeties not out there way to many call sleep penalties one on one not playing complimentary football and not aggressive enough off the line with the receivers. There you have I'm concerned about the defense.

We're screwed. We're an aging, expensive team. Kittle , Williams, McCaffrey are on the back 9, or approaching. We can't sack anymore. Deebo is plastic and Ayuik is now an overpayed, 5 catch per game WR. Not to mention, what does Shanahan have on his resumé? He's lost 3 SBs (Including Atlanta) that he should've wrapped up.
