The most important part of the Santevia and some other high-end gravity units is the ceramic filter. Ceramic can be cleaned when it becomes clogged with junk. And the many tests we have conducted show that UK tap water is dirty and full of contaminants. You actually see the gradual build-up on the surface of the Ceramic filter with black contaminants, it's quite shocking! People who insist that tap water is 'safe' are deluded.

How many gallons per day ca this unit filter? We use/need quite a few gallons per day.

Mine takes 18 hours to filter upper tank(not fully like 80-85%)

The Gravity Water System uses long contact filtration which can be a slow process. If you are noticing it is slower than typical, ensure the Ceramic Pre-filter is not too tight and that it is being cleaned at least every two weeks! ☺
