@@draven3838 So agree. Today can’t bear to watch anything, let alone sitting down with different generation enjoying the same thing. Grandparents teaching too. Nice memories.💝
Rick Jason and Ricardo Montalban worked together again much later in an episode of Fantasy Island! Montalban was in an episode of 'Combat,' called 'Gadjo,' but with Vic Morrow; Rick Jason did not appear in that episode.
What a great movie...fast paced with flashing swords and sinister smiles...but also full of surprises. Rick Jason (from tv's 'COMBAT') plays a bad guy...while Ricardo Montalban kisses Carolyn Jones (which gives rise to the image of Khan Noonien Singh planting one on Morticia Addams)...and Michael Ansara (who also played a Klingon on Star Trek) knifing Carolyn Jones while planting a kiss as well. (Where's Lurch when you need him?) You must not fail to watch this swashbuckling 'knight's tale' rarity.
Ricardo Moltanban a true Legend of the Silver screen, Man! It is thanks to his like one's imagination was kept vibrant, dreams of heroism vanquishing evil, A special place is inhabited by these people, Truly a blessing! Thanks for the upload, I subscribe gratefully! 🙏🏾
Thank you for sharing this, just what I needed….awesome movie, love the older films, just love all the actors/actresses in it, Ricardo M one of my favorite actors, always loved his acting style and skills, a truly great actor….👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
If you want to see an excellent Ricardo M. movie check out Let No Man Write my Epitaph he was a nasty mean character in this movie which also features Shelly Winters and Burl Ives Ella Fitzgerald as well
I am so happy about the upload from this rarely seen movie based on a novel by the great Frank Yerby a black man who traveled and lived well and had his books turned into movies the other being The Foxes of Harrow that starred Rex Harrison and Maureen O' Hara. Carolyn Jones is outstanding in her role and Michael Ansara always had a knack for costume epics. I love Ricardo Montalban who portrayed many multi characters throughout his career. I wonder whatever happened to Bettea St. John.
Betta St. John is still alive at age 92. She lives in her home town of Hawthorne, CA. She retired from film and stage work in 1960. Both lead actresses in this sword and sandal epic looked great in Technicolor but it was kind of disconcerting seeing the late great Carolyn Jones as a blonde!
@@Frank-mm2yp Thanks for that info on Bettea St. John and as for Carolyn Jones she played blondes several time in movies and TV: Burke's Law, Batman,The Addams Family, Original Invasion of the Body Snatchers , The Big Heat and The 3D The Wax Museum with Vincent Price. She looked alright to me and the blonde hair in The Saracen Blade set her character opposite Bettea St John's character just right.
Carolyn Jones/Morticia Addams, was pretty hot stuff. The story was pretty hokey, but I hated to see her get stabbed to death by Michael Ansara. Mildly entertaining. Thanks for posting.
Agree with your take on this movie, the sets and costumes were top notch though, midway through, Ricardo and Carolyn looked like they were in over their heads, they're great for TV but this was too much for them to carry, with the right cast this could've been epic
This movie's not bad for what it is - but I can't help thinking it would be much more interesting if it was historically accurate. It completely ignores that the Crusade of the Emperor Frederick was unlike any other - he had a number of Muslims in his army, loyal to him and he won Jerusalem back through diplomacy without fighting a single battle.
He "won" by TREATY, Jerusalem for ONLY TEN YEARS (it was supposed to be ONLY from 1229 to 1239) But the Crusaders kept Jerusalem until 1244 (FIFTEEN years!) In 1244 the Muslims took Jerusalem back by FORCE!!
The film is based on a novel by Frank Yerby. At least three of his books were made into movies. The Foxes of Harrow (1947), The Golden Hawk (1952) and The Saracen Blade (1954).

Interesting nick name for this channel, "by the Gods." However, there is only one God and that is the creator of the world and us, Jehovah, our heavenly Father.
