Sure glad Jango Fett's legacy didn't end in the belly of the Sarlacc. I NEVER knew that it kept it's victims alive within it's stomach with supplied nutrients to slowly digest them for hundreds of years! That makes the victim's death beyond hell! *Shudder*...
@forky1686
@forky1686 5 лет назад
Even more disturbing: when the victim is finally finished being digested, the consciousness of the victim remains inside the sarlacc for the rest of the creatures life, which could be thousands, or hundreds of years depending on the sarlaccs age. Imagine being a Jedi, when you think your agony is finally over and that you will be one with the force, only to be trapped inside this vile creature for hundreds, or thousands of years.
@Beneficialitificul

I thought the beak tongue-mouth thing was oddly cute for such a creature, but now I think it just makes no sense for the design of it. Like the Xenomorphs, what's the point of the main mouth if only the inner mouth could consume their food? Not to mention all the sand & debris that would be trapped in between the mouths & make the sarlacc uncomfortable for the rest of her life.

Keeping the victim alive only to digest them was the part that ruined Sarlaccs for me. It's so freaking stupid, it would be a net energetic loss to do so.
@lliaolsen728
@lliaolsen728 2 года назад
Sarlacc was designed better in the first film but not great. Even before they added a beak in the update, the tentacles were too much. If you think about creature who sits and waits for prey. They don't want to expel energy, they probably won't move around a lot or even need extra limbs or mouths. The first description was of a being that slowly digests you over 1,000 years or something like that. Anything that works on that timescale isn't going to need to flail about to hook prey. It's has forever to just wait for a meal. Considering the environment and the business of moisture farming. The Sarlacc could perform a similar function naturally and become a better trap, as it would have simply secreted water drops along it's mouth rim to draw in prey.

Up to 100 metres deep with no skeletal body the weight of sand would crush the body. The creatures grow up to 100 metres long as stated, these must be the females yet they are far bigger than the males, does that mean the males are like Venus Fly Traps size wise? Fertilised spores would just travel through Space, how would they get there? Presumably these spores must be lighter than air and the atmosphere. It is acceptable that spores could survive the extreme cold of Space in their dormant state they would be virtually indestructible like bacteria spores on earth. How would they penetrate the atmosphere of the planet of arrival being lighter than air in order to travel into Space in the first place. Final thought is that the species with its size and muscular construction would require a regular daily intake of food in order not to compromise its muscular structure, basically a lack of food would turn the muscular tissue into stored fats and enzymes further causing the body to collapse under the weight of the sand. Therefore it’s extended digestive system would be counter productive. Also the reproductive cycle taking thousands of years would be completely useless but it sounds necessarily gruesome enough to make a film creature more repugnant. The whole explanation does not stand up to even the most rudimentary question. The species would cease to exist, even assuming two spores managed somehow to float to the same planet, find each other and grow into reproductively active male and female creatures especially as stated the adult creatures are basically immobile unless the much smaller males seek out the static females, the only accessible part of the female is the mouth (which may have the appearance of the female reproductive area but not the function) so presumably the absorption starts with the mouth and works down. Now the stored food theory gains credibility but immediately loses it by stating the fact that the absorption process takes so long that the supply of food would be used up before the absorption would be completed or the creature would wither away and collapse under its own weight and that of the surrounding sand.

Actually, this was called “the sarlacc” because there were smaller ones that could eat a cat, while others could eat 10 people at a time This one was the biggest of the 10 people ones, able to eat 20 people

kinda makes Luke look like a dick. Most of the guards were biding time to kill Jabba and escape, and instead of simply cutting them all down with his light sabre, he spent most of the fight knocking as many people into the pit, dooming them to a worse fate. Kinda shocked Fett didn't destroy the pit completely afterwards. I read that at best he'd fly in orbit every year and blast the Sarlacc, but never killed it.

Is it just me, or does slowly decomposing prey items that you keep alive for thousands of years just not sound logistically viable?? Like, how many calories and nutrients are they getting from their prey? We only have so much in us And they're expending their own calories and nutrients to keep them alive, far extending past their natural lifespan in some cases I don't know what sense that makes to spend more energy keeping a human body alive for thousands of years to slowly feed off it, because keeping it alive for that long is going to spend far more caloric energy than you'd gain from consuming them It sounds all horrifying and psychologically scary, but it makes no sense unless there's some other form of energy that's being extracted from living beings Maybe some force energy type shit? Hence why they're needed to keep alive? That would explain the sentience being a hive network of sorts of all the living creatures it's consuming It's their collective life force sustaining the sarlacc, not their actual caloric or nutritional input Big things need a LOT of calories, and a creature this size doesn't have enough room in its body to hold and contain the bodies of enough prey alive to sustain itself Especially since its sustaining them at the same time, and fighting them internally in some cases Maybe you need a thousand humans to sustain the sarlaccs weekly nutritional needs, completely arbitrary number but still, then that Sarlacc needs to capture and hold a thousand humans in its body each week, for thousands of years Maybe it goes through feeding cycles ?? Capture all this prey and sorta store it up and hibernate and digest it But it's shown consuming prey whilst it already had ancient, old and recent prey within itself in some of that art. They still need to be utterly full of food during that time though to make it last and not spend energy hunting Could they starve to death if people simply never come visit the hole to get lured in?? Or what if they over feed in an area and there's no lifeforms to eat? So I think it's the life force theory that probably makes the most sense Do sarlaccs also poop?? Where does it go?? How did they get their spores into space to other planets?? Did other species do it for them??I know I'm thinking too much into this, but I'm already interested in the logistical explanations of creatures to be on this channel already I love star wars and grew up with it, but the universe has so many weird implications at times

Why would it supply it victims with nutrients instead of just finishing them? Wouldn't that waste nutrients it could use on itself?
@thermallance7947
@thermallance7947 5 лет назад
Perhaps it is unable to digest them fast enough so it has to do that. Otherwise they would rot quickly and probably get the sarlacc sick. It kinda makes sense that a creature on a desert planet can live off for a long time with digesting its prey. Do not forget it wasnt always in the ground so it must have kept that trait from when it was moving around.

It’s considered to be like a plant, meaning that nutrients that it excretes may not be useful to it in their current form, but may sustain the creatures it connects to. Also, there are lots of things that eat poop. For example, have you ever had bread or alcohol? Or cheese? What did you think “Byproduct” meant?
