You know what would be a great target for the Scarab God? Some kind of creature that creates two zombies whenever it enters the battlefield or attacks! If only there was some card like that in the format... :p
Got excited when I saw a scarab god upgrade, but quickly realized y’all just basically explained my exact deck hahaha... minus the painter servant grind stone tech...
Perfect timing on this video. I literally made my first Scarab God deck this week and ran it last night. And I was just sitting down to make some dech techs! Nice work nerds.
One of my Favorite commanders as I have always been known at my table as the "Zombie guy" and when Scarb God came out I immediately went and bought one
You guys are AWESOME! The changes are awesome. I’m going to be revising this deck immediately. Oddly enough, my friends said yesterday, “Why aren’t you playing Field of the Dead?” 😂 So yeah wow. I’m just really appreciative of this no-holds-barred look at The Scarab God. And yes.... I basically said #GoCrazy - and you guys delivered! 😊👍🏼
Man The Scarab God is my main and most treasured deck. It warms my cold dead heart to see beetlejuice getting love. I’ll have to jump into the discord and show you mine, he has mucho bling 💍
Everytime you guys mention the command zone, I can’t help but think how epic it would be to have a Game Knights with you as their guests. I’d give it a year and could definitely see it happen :)
Year1: One day maybe... Year2: Joe and Beezy guests to The Command Zone Year3: Former youtube stars Josh Lee Kwai and Jimmy Wong guests to the much more popular channel "Nitpicking Nerds"
In response to the upkeep trigger of the Scarab God, you can activate his ability to create more zombies that with increase the value of X in the upkeep trigger.
For mox opal, I would recommend running the artifact lands in this deck. Yes they can get destroyed by vandalblast etc. but that doesn’t usually happen in my experience and the extra artifact count really matters for a deck with only 17 artifacts
"very casual and having a good time with his friends" ... turn 1 land, mox, lotus, lion's eye diamond, scarab god, discard rest of hand, and reanimate best thing .... yeaaa.... casual fun with friends.. yea
With all the milling this deck does, tombstone stairwell could be really good. Each turn you get zombies that will die, thus getting you more death triggers. And at your upkeep you stack the tombstone trigger to happen before scarab God's trigger so you can scry even more and drain your opponents. Also, extra deadly with vengeful dead cuz It counts every zombie, even your opponents zombies.
I enjoy my value town Scarab God deck, probably somewhere between 5-7 power, casual mid-game but can win out of nowhere. I tend to win with Peer into the Abyss+ Living Death or Empty the Pits with my Scarab God. LOL, When I think about it the deck works without Scarab God, their just there because they are my favorite Dimir Commander and works as a good decoy, oh and the value :P
I know I’m two weeks behind on this, but I am very curious as to whether or not you think Altar of the Brood would go well in this deck and what you’d take out to put it in, if so.
So if Scarab god dies, I can put em in graveyard instead of command zone? I thought whenever your commander dies it should go to command zone?…what about the commander tax? Will it cost the same if commander return to your hand or you have to add tax like in command zone?
You can play mirror mad phantasm, exile it with scarab god, mill your entire deck and win with thoracle or if you're spicey with a Necrotic ooze package.
I own a lion's eye diamond but I proxy it, my playgroup allows proxies if we own the card. I mainly have it in a muldrotha deck but I'm thinking of making a scarab god deck, how does it play in the deck since you only get 1 use out of it?
At about 4:50 you guys say that the creatures Scarab God reanimates have several creature types, this isn't true actually. They're 4/4 Black Zombies instead of their other stats and types, not in addition to them.
I don't think zombie tribal is the direction for Scarab God. Yes, lords that give nice abilities like Gleaming Overseer fit in well, but unless you're going infinite, Diregraf Captain is super low impact. You don't want to tread water with a bunch of tokens that can't get in for damage, you want to reanimate 7-drops. Giving those 7 mv threats abilities is good, but just reanimating them is the focus of my deck
Scarab God decks really thrives off a lot of creatures in deck. His ability targets creatures in your and other graveyards...so a ton of enchantments or instants/sorceries PWs etc...no value. Unless you're going really control/mill, and rely on stealing other's creatures. But they may not have creatures.
I don’t know about you guys but this deck is not really suited to a casual table. In my experience playing with 100$ mana rocks screams cedh and that is all that people see. Just love the content.
I love field of the dead the most it is the secret commander of my gitrog deck. I also have a scarab god deck but I only have so much money so I only have one copy atm
So I say "Big Money Flex Time" and My GF just asked me to take my Britches off. Thanks Joe and Beezy! (i love the Descriptor you put under your name Beez)
Wants to play casually with his 2000 dollar deck with moxes and painters servant combo. Yeah this guy sounds like a pubstomper of the worst degree. You already got tainted pact jus add thasas oracle an this is basicaly a cedh level deck not a casual deck. If im playing casually there is no world in which getting combod on turn 1 is ok.
I mean they have to draw both pieces... In a 99 card deck not good odds. Also it's not even a turn 1 win. And if this is cedh then I hate to tell you it's not even close lmao, that's like calling a precon "cedh" for getting a turn 1 sol ring
@@Lowelo860 it is turn 1 with ancient tomb mana crypt sol ring. 2 card combos in a 2000 dollar deck doesnt feel casual to ME. this is an optimized competitive dec imo. I wouldnt call sol ring on 1 a cedh deck jus like i didnt call this one a cedh one. I called the guy a pubstomper for wanting to play casually with a 2000 dollar deck. And said he should jus make it cedh by adding thasas oracle.
@@connoringram4948 @connor ingram I mean my goat tribal edh deck is 2000$+ and when it sits down at the table it's always the weakest deck at the table, even against precons. Money doesn't equal = power always. Also even adding oracle combo won't make it cedh, this looks nothing like a cedh deck. Also" This is basically a cedh deck"
My playgroup is really high-level when it comes to their version of “casual.” Sometimes I am the archenemy at the table. Other times, people ignore me..... and that’s a mistake. LOL. Scarab God quickly spirals out of control. But yeah.... I think the word “casual“ is debatable. It’s not cEDH, but it’s close. I just know that I need my decks to be a higher power level if I’m going to compete at my friends’ “casual” table.
