The medical crew on that field deserves endless praise, they had not a second to waste and barely any room if any at all for error and ended up saving this guys life. Now he's out there as a full participant in practice only months after this and has made what looks like a full recovery.
U are correct they saved his life. He stopped breathing TWICE on the field. When u saw them put him in the ambulance. Then they brought him back out . They had to get his HEART going again. What a crazy night. ❤️
Who cares, this happens all the time, we need to fix this issue, which is done by all eating a whole foods, plant based diet, create a natural, non toxic environment, in nature, in our cities, and in all our products, as well as exercise more, it’s so easy, but greed for money is the problem as always. Also, we have 8 billion people, and only 1 planet. If people cared as much about the planet that they do their friends, family, or this guy, our climate wouldn’t be getting worse and worse all the time. We only have 1 planet, but we could easily lose 7.5+ billion people, and our species would be fine, especially if only the strongest and smartest were left, and the planet would also benefit from this. Just the objective truth.
@@ncard00im so confused by this reply. How do we go from cardiac arrest to Whole Foods lol! What the Hell are you talking about the Planet for? Yes, global warming etc. Is a thing…but it’s not relevant here at ALL so careful saying things like Who cares…geez the audacity
Med team LET HIM ON THE FIELD..MED TEAM HAD THE POWER TO KEEP HIM OFF THE FIELD MED TEAM..WAS CAUGHT SITTING ON THIER ASS.....PEOPLE CAN AND DID GET HURT KEEP ME FAR AWAY FROM THAT "MED TEAM"
I love how THE BENGALS HEAD COACH agreed to cancel the game. And he went to the hospital. That’s some class and some heart right there. Good job Zac Taylor ❤
When this happened, I honestly think that everyone forgot about the game and just prayed for Damar Hamlin. The game didn't matter anymore. A young man's life is what mattered to everyone. I am just so glad that the medical crew took such swift action and kept his heart beating. I am thankful that he lived and I am also thankful that he is able to lead his normal life.
My family are diehard Cincinnati fans but I remember my mom and dad both in tears watching, and I came running in hearing them cry. I remember my mom crying saying "that's someones babyboy" can't imagine what he and his family went through
The whole thing was an act. Watch him fall to the ground he lands on his but first. Look at the SB last year. He wore a jacket mocking Jesus Christ crucifixion. After some one who was saved by god that sure is a nice way to give gratitude.
"I almost lost my life out there. Seeing many people meet me and cheer for me when I was discharged from the hospital almost felt like a 'welcome back' to life." - Damar Hamlin
Lifelong Bills fan here. Thank you, Cincinatti. Thank you so much for the grace you have always shown us and the respect you gave to Damar and our team that night. Thank you.
This whole event was staged. Warch the wat he falls he lands on his but before completely falling to the ground. At the SB Damar Hamlin wore a jacket mocking Jesus Christ. The god that everyone prayed to to "Save" his life. All scripted my friend.
I’m sorry this is kinda convenient because what happened is he got hit in the heart in a certain spot at a certain time Called commotio cordis 90% of people who get it die
@planeedits4686 Actually, you are right. The good thing was that the valves of his heart were 2orking, which means he could get oxygenated blood, going through his aorta vein, so if the valves didn't work blood wouldn't be able to pump and it will kill him.
@@C0ol_beans no intention to hate on you, but virtually everything you said in that comment about heart valves and so on is wrong. Please consider removing such blatant misinformation and don't try to explain things you obviously don't really know about.
@gustav9885 idk what u ate talking about. Last time I checked, I learned this in year 9, which was a year ago. I'm pretty sure I am right. The statements I said are right, while the reason for his passing out might be something different. Please study this before replying back.
@@C0ol_beans @C0ol_beans lol, your education system obviously failed you. That or you're trolling. First of all, your aorta is not a vein but an artery. Second, your heart valves are important for circulation, however they are not the structures pumping blood. If your heart stops, like his did, it's not pumping blood anymore. The valves are what keep blood from flowing in the wrong direction. What kept him alive is the Bills medical team performing CPR to keep his blood moving and his lungs ventilated, thus delivering air to his body. At least that's how I always understood it, feel free to correct me where I'm wrong, though!;)
I love how the Bengals cared so much for the Bills during this heartbreaking moment. No matter what the scenario is, it’s not everyday that you see that on or at a football game.
If the Cincy team had been classless they could have forced the Bills to play or forfeit, but I don't think any group of humans would be happy winning that way.
i visited that ICU to support my dad who was recovering from open heart surgery shortly after damar was there. the medical staff there is completely top notch and i am so thankful they were there both for damar and my father, who has since made a full recovery after his triple bypass
Imagine your boss said “5 minutes then back to work” after you just watched your coworker literally DIE in front of your eyes, then taken away in an ambulance. Kudos to all the coaches, medical staff, and captains that night for keeping everyone’s mental health a priority over a game.
I was there with my dad. It happened right in front of our section, and he was one of the first people to notice. What was supposed to be the best night of our lives as Bengals fans, turned into the most somber. Very happy Damar is alright. I will say though this night started a chain of negative moments happening in my life, and I truly don't think I'll ever recover or be the same.
@@QuantumTB oh my gosh you are so dense, we are asking about the negative events in their life, I hate people like you who go around telling people why you are right, when your actually the only one who is wrong.
I saw my mom lose her heart beat three times..all those times she came back..I remember praying for him. God bless this young man and all the people who have cardiac issues.
I don’t watch sports so I’m not sure why this was suggested for me but man was I sobbing lol. This story is incredible and I never knew there was such love and support within the football community among players and fans. It was really beautiful to see so many people come together
You cried watching a an actor pretend. Watch him fall to the ground. He breaks the impact of the fall by landing on his but first. Look at his jacket he wore at the Superbowl. He was mocking the same god everyone prayed to for him.
I had never heard of Damar. Didn’t follow the Bills, but when this happened I was heartbroken for the family and friends. Watched for daily updates. So glad when he was well enough to go home. He is such a caring man. When I watched this video, I cried. Best wishes and God bless.
You use the words:"God bless". I wish that people would acknowledge God even more than what they do. Long story short:I came across footage, of a Man who had a Heart Attack, and died... right in a Church! However, there was a Medical Team in that Church, that did CPR and all, and God worked and moved, and raised him from the dead! The Pastor, a Brother E. Dewey Smith, said this:"The Medical Team can work on him...but only God can give Breath"! He was, of course, referring to the Breath of Life. Only God can give THAT! The Man recovered, and apparently went on to live his life.
Back in December, I got incredibly ill, septic shock due to complications from a kidney stone. I nearly died. I was in the ICU for a solid month. While I was there, who would be rushed into the room next to mine? Damar Hamlin. The players from both teams that came to see him and wish him a speedy recovery were some of the greatest people in the world. They treated my wife so well, as if she were a lifelong friend. While I lay in bed, and my wife was unsure if I'd ever wake up again, these beautiful human beings who's friend was also in a very serious situation, embraced her and offered her support and compassion. It's something I will never be able to repay, and something I think about on a daily basis. I am a lifelong Bengals diehard, but I also now love the Buffalo Bills for their tremendous people.
crazy ppl are bashing him for being the comeback player of the year. this dude almost died on the field and yet he’s still here standing. i have nothing but respect for Hamlin.
It’s because he didn’t do anything when he came back. He barely played. This same incident happened to Chris Pronger back in 1998 and he returned to play the next game.
@@btgkg9639 agreed. The NFL needs to provide the award called "Comeback from Injury". Comeback Player just seems more keen to how a player regains their footing from a bad or no start early in the season.
@@sebastiannnb Not everyone is a believer, even some of us mock alot of other religions in the past jesus probably wouldn't like it if we are this hypocrite. The best we can do is set a better example.
Even though it haw been around 8 months since this happened, I still teared up watching this video, and everything that happened.I'm a huge Bills fan, but seeing everyone in the NFL community come together was amazing.
This was the first football since I moved to my new state and my family and I were in a air bnb to give us time to get our stuff. I was so excited to watch football(not a fan of either team, but just wanted to watch some football) and when Hamlin went down I told my dad, “hey you might wanna come check this out” this scared me.
I remember watching this game and my brother, a die hard bengals fan, immediately dropped to a knee and began praying. something he rarely does but in that moment I knew he was affected by seeing what we’d witnessed. He even began rooting for the bills after this and kept saying that even though he was a bengals fan for life he hoped the bills would make it to the superbowl.
I started praying after watching it, I live in Cincinnati and I was praying for him and the Bills. I was checking on his status constantly all night long praying he lived. I was crying for him and so worried. We all prayed for the bills. I donated to his charity as well and followed that. We came together so quickly and I’ll forever be grateful for the other fans.
The reaction the public to Damar Hamlin's injury truly restored some of my hope for society. People from all races, political backgrounds, and just different all rallied behind the young man. I honestly will never forget it in a time that this country seemed more divided than ever. Happy for Damar / God Bless the medical staff that heroically saved his life
Damar's collapse was caused by a medical phenomenon called commotio cordis. When Tee Higgins hit Damar's chest with his shoulder, it hit a specific ventricle in Damar's heart at a specific heartbeat and caused the cardiac arrest. It's rare and more common with baseball players. The team that worked on him on the field absolutely saved his life.
@@bradentheman1373people theorize that the COVID vax had a hand in it. It has been proven that certain companies’ vaccine caused inflammation around the heart, and that mixed with a huge impact to the heart it’s no wonder he nearly died. Although it’s still speculation, and even if it was true, they aren’t going to say it was the vaccines fault publicly.
This was scary to see. Both teams, even though they were rivals that day, had cared. Dead silence is something to never hear on a football field, and that is how you know it was serious. They gave him CPR for 15 minutes before he started breathing again. It's a miracle he's alive. Edit: Everyone in the replies is saying he is dead, and they revived him, and all that. Ok, you've convinced me.
I work in EMS, and me and my coworkers were all watching this live at the station. We all speculated it was commotio cordis, which ive never seen before after 5 years as a first responder. The only reason he lived was those medical staff being well training. Spectacular job. Im so happy hes alive and well.
Commotio cordis was ruled out by the 2nd arrest. Take a listen to cardiologist Peter McCullough and others talk about this. They're trying to call it CC, but it was not, by definition.
How many more cardiac arrests in healthy young people have you seen since then? There were about 5 high school athletes in Vegas that dropped dead shortly after Damar. Tragic. Definitely the experiment. J Wilderness has several videos of athletes, performers, newscasters, etc, dropping dead while in action.
I’m a Bengals fan in Cincinnati. I remember watching the Week 17 game live on TV with my family. Damar Hamlin’s collapse was the most horrifying thing I’ve seen in 23 years of watching football. I’m glad they decided to cancel the game, because I didn’t want to see the game continue and doubt the players and coaches wanted to continue playing after witnessing that. I felt horrible about it and terrible for the Bills fans in attendance. I’m glad none of the Bengals fans in the stadium decided to be jackasses about the situation. After the game, downtown Cincinnati was full of support for the Bills. Multiple buildings were lit up red and blue. There were signs with the number 3 hanging in windows. I think there may have even been electronic billboard messages supporting Damar. I’m so glad he covered and I hope he stays healthy. Hopefully he has a great career and does a lot of good with the $9 million his GoFundMe raised. And I hope to God I never see what happened to Damar ever happen again.
As a bills fan watching this game i was horrified because i thought it was just a normal injury from a tackle until my dad said they started CPR. Ill always remember this
I was at the game and it was my second NFL game ever. I couldn't believe that day. It still doesn't feel real sometimes but all we care about is that Damar is healthy now
I cannot express how wild that opening kickoff return was. I got to the stadium just in time, seconds to spare, and I saw the stadium absolutely erupt, with numerous people crying. Truly a one of a kind moment that I will never forget.
The energy inside of Paycor stadium was insane that night. I went from turning and high fiving, to turning back and he was down so fast. Deafening roars turned to deafening silence. In the end everyone is just walking out of the stadium in disbelief. Glad he's recovered to good health.
i remember hearing my dad saying “oh shoot” so i come out of my room to see what was going on. i see so many people surrounding him. my dad was praying he was alright. my dad isn’t even a fan and he was still praying. i was proud of my dad.
I teared up watching. There’s no way to forget what happened. Suddenly this incredible game ceased as everyone, literally everyone focused on what was really important. The two teams, hell everyone pulled for one thing. It’s a reminder that our collective humanity trumps everything that might divide us.
This reminds me of Fabrice Muamba, a British football player who suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch in 2012. His heart was stopped for over 20 minutes, the match was live and everyone saw him just collapse onto the ground. He made a full recovery but has retired from playing. The body is a mysterious thing, no matter how well you look after it something will always happen.
Watched the play happen on live television. It was so heartbreaking and scary to watch, but so wholesome at the same time. The guy who hit Hamlin wasn't like, "Hooray, I took out a good player on the other team!". No, they were crying and felt terrible. Incredible story.
i barely watch football, and this man’s recovery and dedication brought me to tears im glad he’s doing better, and hope he gets a Super Bowl moment soon 🫶🏾
This is a cardiac event called Cammotio Cordis. It's when there is heavy impact to a person's chest at an exact time in the heart beat. Great job by the first responders. Immediate CPR is what saved his life.
@@chrisg334I think it was a bit of both. With the evidence of certain vaccines causing inflammation around the heart, plus a major impact to the chest, it’s a miracle he pulled through. Hopefully more people get the help they need after being harmed.
I lost my dad on December 16th. I don't know why but when I found out what happened with Damar that night while the game was happening (i got home late and caught it halfway through while it was postponed) all I could do was beg my dad to make sure he didn't join him. I remember asking my mom to add him to her prayers. The next several hours of not hearing an update just had me unable to sleep. I didn't even know this guy. I didn't even really watch the Buffalo Bills. I'm a Cowboys diehard but I felt like watching football that night. I'm glad I did. I'm glad this young man is okay.
I’m not an NFL fan I’m more into NBA but I’ll never forget this incident the whole week I was praying that this man didn’t die and when I heard his first words were “did we win?” I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry I was just happy he made it back to his family huge thanks to the doctors who helped him get back on his feet
I saw it happen live on TV and it was so scary. But, It’s so touching how every team and so many fans came together to support him and it’s amazing that he recovered :)
I personally don't care for football much, but I've always had respect for the players and wishing them the best. To hear he recovered and was in high sprites is just awesome.
Seeing the whole situation unfold and go from so dark to uplifting and ultimately a massive positive was amazing. So proud to call those who treated Damar and helped him make it through this terrifying experience my coworkers.
I can’t imagine what that moment feels like for both men involved- obviously we know how terrifying and stressful and traumatic it is for Damar but I also imagine it was rough for Tee too. On both ends and even for the players and spectators and even us at home, I think it was a stunning reminder of how fragile we really are.
I was speechless when I saw this happen. I’m glad he’s OK and I am super proud of the responders. They made the right choice suspending and in the end not resuming the game. After what just happened I couldn’t imagine what would happen if they tried to go back to playing.
I'm from the UK and just been crying watching this. He was clearly loved and made a big impact on many peoples lives, esp youngsters. I hope he makes a full recovery and can keep doing what he loves, he's so young. My dad had his 1st major heart attack on his 41st birthday, followed quick by 2 more. I was 17,pregnant with my 1st daughter but all of a sudden felt like a little girl with no hope, scared I'd lose my dad.... He ended up having a quadruple heart bypass. I visited as he came out of intensive care and the state he was in still traumatises me when I think about it now at home 6yrs old. My dad has just surpassed his 68th birthday on 22/2/23.
As a healthcare professional, I watched this live as another day in the office. It's easy to forget when you work codes and crazy situations in the medical field constantly that this isn't a normal experience for the public. I think the responders did an excellent job.
I’m from and live in Buffalo NY. It was a very sad time to see one of our players this way. Our whole city was united even for just that day. We were Buffalo strong . Thank you to everyone across the USA for the support you have given one of our players 🙏🏼 may god be with you all
I'm a Bengals fan. That was a terrifying moment watching that game. I even know the exact words he said when he woke up. "Did we win?" And the nurse/doctor said: "you won the game of life". Ill never forget that=)
I was at this game (bills fan) and it was honestly heartwarming to see the community support between bills and bengals fans right as it happened. we were all just sitting there in shock and i saw many fans crying into opposing fans shoulders, from both teams. every single bengals fan i saw was unbelievably nice and were clearly all going through the same things bills fans were. it was nice to know that we could be united by something like this. +respect bengals fans, still hate you for the playoffs though 😂
i was there as well. i shook every Bills fan hand i saw that night. i also work for UC hospital. when i saw that ambulance come on the field, i knew this was life threatening. like all the others in the stands, i stood there in stunned silence wondering what life threatening situation had befallen Damar. such a scary night, but there was beauty in it. the fans came together and soothed one another. Who Dey Nation and Bills Mafia, brothers and sisters for life
Hey, Bengals fan here. We've been kinda brother fanbases since that Bengals/Ravens game. Respect to y'all. Play hard in the playoffs but after the game is over, nothing but love. We know what it's like to get so close but not win it too over here. Freaking hurts, and we are solid fanbases.
As a bills fan, I watched this game live and I remember tearing up watching Allen and Diggs crying and same with all the other team while they made a circle around him. I am so god damn grateful for Buffalo General and UC Medical, for their help. God bless all of you. I remember when my grandfather was in Buffalo General, shortly before his passing. They were great. I really appreciate all of you and all the staff everywhere. Love you Damar. #3
Man I remember this happening because it was soon after it happened to me. I went into cardiac arrest while playing and had cpr done for 7 minutes and was technically dead that whole time. I am so blessed to be here and so is damar
There is no other fan base like the Bill’s mafia.. the amount of love and support that they give out during times like this is truly incredible.. it is possibly the most infectious fan base in the NFL.. I will most certainly not forget a single moment from that night..
I agree but I feel like most fan bases would have been this way, something like this hasn't taken place in many years it would have been a shock for any team and that would have been the same show of emotion and love for the teammate
I remember watching that like it was yesterday. I was watching it with my family, we saw him make the tackle, and thought nothing of it. (we are bengals fans). and they were just saw him collapse. It was a nightmare, watching the screen as they kept going back and forth between the commentators, and Damar. I still remember them trying to talk about Chick-fil-A to cheer people up.
Not only am I not a Buff Bills fan but I'm not even into Football that much and this had me holding back tears the whole way through. Wow. What a beautiful story.
i will forever remember watching this whole situation unfold on tv. cried every single day until he was out and then kept crying days after because he survived. absolutely incredible work from the bills medical team honestly.
The fact that the Bengals, the Bills season rivals, GAVE UP the #1 seed because of this game shows how scary it was for everyone there. With the season on the line, the opposite team still gave up being crowned the best team in the AFC because of this.
I remember this day so well I was snowboarding in NC and me and my dad had just finished up our run and headed back home and we walked in our Cabin and my mom said a player collapsed on the field and we sat there the whole time watching the medical team do their thing and just prayed for him. Until we heard that he stopped breathing and we all sat there in silence waiting for something and a ambulance came on the field. The next day that had reports on Damar that he was alive now and we were so relieved that he was ok. ❤ We will always remember that day. Love you Damar. ❤
The medical team deserved all the praise they received. They were amazing! I'm so glad Damar has made an amazing recovery. I don't say the word "miracle" too often, but him surving is definitely a miracle.
I remember this moment. I watched it on YT, and I too was wishing Hamlin a recovery. This moment taught me one thing: We all have our favorite teams, but when a player falls, we all stand together & hope he's okay alongside his fans in the stands.
During the event, I was on the verge of tears. I thought it was much worse than it was. Kept asking for updates from my mom, wondering what was gonnahappen. So glad he turned out ok!!!
Side note, but this event (more so the aftermath) had also been an incredible push for our profession of athletic training. To be able to show people what we are capable of and how important it is to have athletic trainers - and to also see the support from Damar and the NFL for athletic trainers - has been so so huge and meaningful. This is often a worst nightmare for us and we never wish this on any of our athletes/patience, but its so rewarding to see such an amazing outcome - for both Damar and the awareness surrounding the profession!
It's not the scariest, it's the most beautiful moment of the NFL. It's hard times where we know and see, who is really on our side and the fact not only his family, but the whole team, the whole NFL and all of its fans supported him, is the true beauty of this moment
@@geometricart7851 That's actually the reason I avoided saying it's the scariest moment, since I was sure there had to be an even worse moment than this
@@geometricart7851the difference between Hughes and Hamlin is that Hughes had a previous medical condition that went unnoticed, while Hamlin was hit at the exact hundredth of a second to stop his heart.
My brother and dad were in the stadium when this happened because we’re from Cincinnati. And it was just a heart-stopping moment when we watched it on TV. Thank God he’s okay.
I remember watching this live. I've been a Bills fan since I was 5. Been through the rivalries. This was the day NFL fans came together. Didn't matter who your team was. We, as fans came as one.
Apart from Hamlin himself, the two heroes of this story are Danny Kellington and modern medicine. Lions WR Chuck Hughes died on the field in 1971, and Patriots WR Daryl Stingley was left quadriplegic-for-life on the field in 1978, but Damar Hamlin is alive and well today. That’s amazing progress, really.
I thought at first he may have had a concussion at first because it's not uncommon to see a player get hit then fall down but when it came back from a long commercial break to an ambulance and them saying they had been performing CPR for over 2 minutes at the time was shocking and scary. I was scared for him and started to cry seeing his teammates reaction to everything. I'll definitely never forget that night and I'm so so glad he ended up okay
I remember I was in 5th grade at the time. We were in class at I think 9am for us, and we were on chromebooks, supposed to be doing work, but me and other kids were messing around on them, playing games and such. Suddenly, the class broke into whispers and shocked expressions and such. I remember we went back and watched it through the live game video.
Not a football or sports fan of any kind but what happened to Damar Hamlin and the outpouring of love and support he received makes me tear up. On a more serious note, for those who may not understand why people were shaken after Damar Hamlin collapsed, watching someone collapse without warning is extremely scary. I know because I’ve witnessed it firsthand. I was sitting in my college class when the person sitting next to me moved their chair and started to make a gagging sound. Someone yelled out that it was a seizure and I immediately leaped into action, supporting the person’s neck as they fell out of their chair and onto the floor. Thankfully, they woke up soon after and appeared okay but were still taken by medical personnel that had been called to come get them to the clinic. At the time, I was okay but several hours later, I was crying in my dorm room from the stress of the situation and at the thought that I didn’t do enough. That event still haunts me to this day and I’m sure Damar Hamlin collapsing on the field will remain with the players, coaches, and anyone who watched the game for the rest of their life.
I can't imagine the feeling of literally watching someone collapse and then just not respond anymore. That is so scary and I'm grateful that he's doing well
Nobody is talking about how the NFLwas basically like "Hey I know your teammate might die tonight, but uhhh can you guys get back to playing in 5 minutes? We got a schedule to keep"
