He doesn't even deserve to be trashed, or have this title given to him. He deserves to be completely forgotten. As if he never played in the NFL at all.
@@PunchGod741 He ruined possibly one of the best wr ever life bc of that hit. Not just football, but his life. He should have faced criminal charges if it wasnt the nfl and their smoke screen.
@@nhurtt4931Yeah, let's all act like AB was completely fine in college I'm not defending Burfict, but calling him the reason why AB went batshit is simply wrong
Glad to hear his Mom turned it around and got a good job. Before anyone wants to make any wisecracks, driving a bus is a good job and you can make a comfortable living doing it. My uncle did it until his dying day...at least he went doing something he loved. I watched that hit on Antonio Brown during the 2015 playoffs live as it happened. I totally thought he broke AB's neck and wondered if his life wasn't going to be in trouble, or maybe if he was going to face paralysis. That was pretty scary. Football isn't a game for wimps. Play hard. That's fine. But what VB did throughout his career wasn't playing hard. He was flat dirty and malicious. I really wish the Bengals and the NFL had done more to keep him off the field since obviously the small fines and suspensions were not getting his attention.
Getting a job and finding a real career are 2 different things. She shouldn’t be on a pedestal for doing what almost every teenager does in this country, get a job and pay your own bills.
Being a LA city bus driver is a union job with a good salary & conditions 🚌. You're not going to be a millionaire, but you'll live comfortably if you're frugal.
Growing up without a father and with an ineffective mother is at the root of a lot of American problems, especially in Black America. Family matters more than the professional whining class in America wants to admit.
I had a HS coach once say that football is not a gentleman's game, but it can be played by gentlemen. Reggie White, Mike Singletary, Troy Polamalu & Ronnie Lott all come to mind. Maniacal defenders who had self-control. Controlling and channeling your emotions is part of being an adult.
At ASU it was so frustrating. He would almost single-handedly shut down an opponent, then on 3rd and long, he'd have a stupid personal foul, give them a first down and an extra 15 yards, and the Sundevils would lose. I was so happy when he went to the pros early, so he could be someone else's problem.
@larrycot As an avid ASU alumnus, I too feel that pain and experienced those games. As you cited, Burfict would dominate the game just as LT did for the Giants, except as you described, he would give the other team the extra yardage, they would score. and ASU would lose... This happened multiple times and when he left ASU I too was glad... but my pain was compounded because I was a Raiders fan, and we eventually acquired his "services." With Burfict's talent, it was amazing he wasn't even drafted -- but shows what an undisciplined and dirty player he was. And, I feel bad for the Bengals fans where Vontaze personally lost a playoff game for them...
As a Bengals fan this guy broke my heart. He didn’t need to be a dirty player, he was a great football player. His instincts and ability to get the defense into the right play presnap made him an impact player. But he was a dirty, dirty player and it was that more than injures in my opinion that ended his career. His rep was so bad that refs would just state him down and wait for him to do something stupid (and he always did).
He had all the talent to be one of the best linebackers ever; too bad his head was screwed on wrong. He didn't have to be that far on or over the edge when he played however Bill Romanowski was just as bad as Burfict. Both players had all talent but way out of bounds trying to injure players all the time.
If you actually believe he is the most hated player "ever" then you are a child. Jack Tatum, Deacon Jones and Mean Joe Green wouldn't even be allowed to play in todays league.
@@philp1398 I didn't say most hated i said he had all the talent but played out of bounds. Way too many head shots. Jack Tatum, Deacon Jones, Mean Joe Green etc played in a different era and you are correct they would be just as penalized today as Burfict was. You have to compare him to todays players like Suh, and Romanowski etc. Burfict was his own worst enemy.
It’s pretty egregious how the league allowed this sort of behaviour for so long. These fines and short suspensions are just slaps on the wrists to guys like this. I’m a track and field athlete, where if people get suspended for things (like doping violations), they miss something in the realm of 4 years. That’s a real deterrent, and those doping violations aren’t putting someone’s entire life at risk like Burfict’s play was. I think by the time he’s getting his third fine, players like this should be under review to be suspended for an entire season. After that, 2-4 years, and after that, permanent bans. Even then, he still has less to lose than the guys he’s taking shots at.
Yet the NFL allows rapists and women beaters to have second and third chances…you know, since they are good at sports the rules don’t apply to them. Deshaun Watson, Tyreek hill ring a bell? NFL is full of garbage humans, like every other job.
Stupid comment.. most people get shunned and stripped of all accolades if found doping in any sport, playing a violent game violently isn't comparable to cheating.. watch any old school football and you'll see much dirtier shit, that being said Burfect is nothing but a piece of scum
I fully agree. If guys have this mentality to destroy other dudes careers and lives they don’t need to be on the field. Nothing wrong with hitting hard but do it right or get off the field.
oh please, the NFL allowed Pittsburgh players to get away with dirty shots for YEARS. "Egregious"... only when done TO Pittsburgh but never BY Pittsburgh.
@@spaceknight793 I am a Bengals fan. Did I make a comment supporting dirty play by Steelers players or anyone else? Dirty play by Steelers players doesn’t make the league’s handling of Burfict’s play any less egregious.
Vontez hit brown so hard that it changed the man's personality permanently. That hit against Antonio brown changed him so dramatically, the person who existed before the hit was gone. This man was dirty af.
Shame on the NFL for taking so long to get rid of him . The owners , coaches , agents & other powerful people in the NFL are JUST AS BAD , maybe even worse for allowing this to go on for 7 years . 🤔
Did you just start watching football or did you miss the past 60+ years of gameplay!? Morons treating him like a menace. I can name at least five people from the 1970’s Raiders that were way dirtier and better and scarier than him. Tatum would have made this man go blind. 😂😂😂😂
@@RepS.-yg6ftHe’s still right. Just scale it down. The NCAA needed to do more, his high school needed to do more. All true… but when you’re paying someone MILLIONS of dollars while constantly just letting him attempt to injure people? Yeah, that’s not good.
I know Vontaze had a rough childhood, but that’s no excuse for how he acted on the field. Him getting hit by Julio and nobody signing him in free agency is karmic justice and exactly what he deserves.
Ah, you need to start reading more. Yes, a bad child does affect you, for life. Don’t state things without educating yourself first. Yes, I had two semesters in university dedicated to this topic in my psychology classes, just so you know I’m not espousing nonsense, like yourself.

He basically played for free with all the fines had to pay. If he had pulled out a shank and stabbed somebody during a game it honestly would not of surprised me. It's almost as if he truly loved physically injuring people more than the game of football.
And then there’s people that wanna say “Oh that’s just football what else did you expect to happen?” There’s a difference between hard hitting football and just straight up trying to break someone’s bones!
Yeah he could shank someone on the field and people would say “Thats just football!” And he would get offers from other teams again wth is wrong with these coaches?! 😂
I am truly amazed at how people can be their own worst enemies and manage to sabotage and destroy their own lives. Especially those people who have gifts, talents and abilities to make a lot of money.
I'm glad he's not in the league anymore, but someone THIS aggressive can't possibly fit into the larger society. I worry for what he does out in the world without football.
I understand he had a rough life but that's still no excuse to go out your way to deliberately hurt people on the football field I'm glad he's no longer in the NFL there's no place or room for someone like that good riddance.
Steelers fan.... I seen the Antonio Brown hit live and I honestly thought AB was dead.... this guy isn't just a dirty player he was out there trying to hurt people for life..... so glad juju got him back and he more than deserved it.
Burrfect was singled out and the referees held a grudge btw that Steelers game was fixed so the Bengals wouldn’t move on bc Pittsburgh had a huge fan base where Cincinnati didn’t have an eighth of Pittsburghs fan base. The hits in the last drive of that playoff game against Pittsburgh were all 100% clean. Their season was ruined by the comprised referees. The NFL screwed Burfect who was suspended for 12 games while the pervert QB in Cleveland is allowed to sexually assault over 50 women, Robert KRAFT can go and exploit an illegal immigrant forced to work at a rub and tug and he gets no punishment, and the wife beating knock out artist ray rice would’ve been able to come back to the nfl if the ravens needed him but since he was getting old and slow they let him go, then there’s too many scumbag players & coaches to mention who did things so much worse than VB who was forced out the nfl bc the close relationships between Pittsburgh owner and nfl commissioner. Vontez belongs in the hall of fame and his poor “victim” AB belongs in prison for his hobbies of beating the mother of his children in front of them but that turd looking piece of 💩was extended for millions by the raiders who he screwed over bc he couldn’t wear his old helmet bc of nfl standards so he literally burnt up about 30 million dollars by voiding his contract but I digress VB deserved an award for knocking the snot out of wife beating AB.
@@azovandy14.88 except Burfict's actions *on* the field were the problem, whereas the situations *you* named (nice whataboutism, by the way) were mainly off-field problems. Burfict was violent, and I don't need you to characterize his hits for me. I watched the video myself and made my own judgments about what a disgusting football player this guy was. He clearly enjoyed hurting people, continually and blatantly attempted to injure players on the field, and should have been kicked out years earlier than he was. Burfict in the hall of fame would be a blight on the sport. Nice job defending trash though. Lots of people want to watch hard football, but *clean* football. I guess you're alright with the game being as injurious as possible. Good for you. We like different football. NFL players' brains that have been screened post-mortem have over a 90% incidence rate for CTE, and people like Burfict exacerbate the issue. They have no place in the game.
@@azovandy14.88 oh, also, Antonio Brown's insane behaviour started *after* Burfict gave him brain damage. Given how CTE contributes to aggressive behaviour, you absolutely can't discount the fact that Antonio Brown's antics (which sure look like CTE) are in part a result of that disgusting hit from Burfict.
I honestly hate the defenses of him, he wasn’t a hard nose player, he was a dirty player! There are plenty of feared defensive players who never had to resort to his crap, also, if you actually look into his career that style of play actually hurt him more than it helped him. On top of the fact that it just got him in trouble all the time, it led to more injuries because it’s an extremely reckless style of play. He could’ve been a really solid linebacker but he completely stunted his development with his dirty and reckless play. There’s no one to blame for his failure but him, don’t defend Vontaze Burfict, learn from his mistakes.
@@realmadzero the dirty stuff didn’t make him a better player tho. man definitely wouldve been in the first two rounds of the draft if his reputation didnt kill him. he wouldve been in the league for a long ass time. even in his last year he played he looked solid asf. if he didnt have the hit on AB then he had the game winning interception to break cincys playoff draught. he lead the league in tackles and was the highest graded linebacker in the NFL. how can u even say hes average
Another thing not factored into what was essentially forfeited pay by Burfict was him falling off draft boards due to his benching in college and horrible combine performance. He would've possibly been a top 10 pick but ended up going undrafted entirely. He lost a lot of money on that first contract.
I live in Cincinnati and have actually worked closely with the Bengals team in the logistics department. The real shame of this if he (Burfict) had chosen another path I truly believe he could have gone down as one of the best inside linebackers in the history of the NFL.
It’s astonishing that this man could have been a top tier player but sabotaged himself at every turn. And of course, despite obvious red flags everywhere he went, his behavior was constantly rewarded with subsequent slaps on the wrist until it all came to a head. He should have never made it to the NFL. Thankfully he did not permanently injure anybody, as far as I know.
He was a superstar who dramatically impacted a game with millions of dollars at stake. His presence made an impact. Unfortunately, he was very dirty and did not value the saftey of other players. He would end someone's career to ensure a victory.
Mr. Gillie you are preaching to the choir. I completely agree with you. But it still is a terrible and awful shame when people who are blessed with certain gifts, talents, and attributes, yet they somehow manage to find a way to torpedo and destroy the incredible opportunities and wonderful lives that were attainable to these individuals. Like you said, these folks were their own worst enemies.
Uh-huh. Meanwhile, Jack Tatum, Mean Joe Greene and Deacon Jones made this dude look like a girl scout. But that was back when it was Football. But go ahead and endulgle this ignorant millennial who actually believes this tool was the most hated NFL player "ever" 😂
While I agree, Burfict had it coming, don't apologize for AB's behavior. He has always been a cunt, long before the Burfict hit. CTE doesn't explain away a career of being a dickhead.
man shut the hell up AB been a lost cause. GIO BERNARD was hit by a cheap shot twice as hard from shazier which was before the berfict hit in the same game and he isnt a damn mental case. keep acting like the steelers arent the dirtiest team in the nfl though.
Stop with that nonsense. People saying this clearly don’t know how concussions work. I’ve had two concussions and I’m perfectly fine. Besides that, how many other players in the league have had concussions just as bad if not worse than AB? He’s the only player in the league that gets that excuse and it’s complete bulls**t. Vontaze was a dirty player sure, but everything AB has gotten himself into now is his own fault
While the hit probably contributed to AB's decline in mental health, the dude has always been unstable and doing shitty things. Bottom line is the guy is probably severely bipolar and has intense manic/hypomanic episodes. Combine that with his less than stellar personality, extreme narcissism, and multiple concussions/brain trauma, you get what we've been seeing the last few years.
I doubt CTE would change his personality just like that. He could have been a bad person before then but Tomlin most likely covered it up. It just got worse after he left.
I was an ASU fan back then and Burfict caused so many drives to be extended because of late hits. His talent at the position wasn't worth the penalties

Watching this video, it seems crazy that someone so deadset on injuring other players was allowed to continue after so many violations. The NFL needs to keep a track record of these things and not just give out a slap on the wrists.
We both loved and hated him in Tempe, as he was so often both the most advantageous and detrimental player on the field for the Sun Devils. Incredible play followed right up with a dangerous and out of control one. We always had to hold our collective breath anytime an opposing player went out of bounds because there was a chance he would come out of nowhere and clean someone out. I actually met him one time while I was shooting a documentary on ASU, and he was, by far, the most intimidating of any of the players we had talked to. Really a great talent which was most apparent when seeing him play in person. Yet there were times I thought he might paralyze an opposing player or worse. Scary dude.
As an ASU Sun Devil, watched Vontaze get many key personal foul penalties that put us in a precarious situation in games. But You could see the talent. Which exploded when he got to the NFL. Unfortunately, he could never properly channel or fully reign in his emotions enough to remain a star in the league.
Burfuct was a man who was born to late in this world. He would have fit right in with the 1960's, 70's, and 80's football. The man is a beast and to tough and strong for what the league became and is
i remember being glad he committed to SC and bummed when he decommitted; after watching a few ASU games he played in, i was so glad we dodged that bullet. talented as hell, but it was clear early on he was a total head case.
There’s no way a league with Burfict and Ray Lewis could’ve existed in the same division. It was divine intervention that Lewis retired while Burfict entered the league.
I have never wished a season ending injury on anyone but I wished it every game for Burfict. Watching that dude trying to injure someone multiple times is sickening
Greatest LB in Bengals history. He'd have been a HOFer if he played in the 20th century. Ironically, he and Barkley were actually teammates for one year in Cincinnati.
Agreed, or just on a different team. In Pittsburgh he would have been considered an amazing linebacker. He gives the AFC north a taste of their own medicine and because he is the on Bengals they label him a "dirty" player. Yet he wasn't in trouble off the field no sexual assaults etc.... also didn't stomp on people after plays. Just hit people "too hard" and was the on the Bengals.
If you're a star, they tend to overlook almost any behavior that you might do.Never understood why he wasn't suspended after almost EVERY game. Tried to end careers with dirty game play.
I went to school with Tez. Centennial , Corona CA. Everyone including the school staff knew about his temper lol The Stuff he did in High-school Is a testament to who he's always been. I'm not saying he's a bad dude, but at the same time the brotha knows no boundaries. Long story long, They kept two ambulances on standby because of how frequently people needed to go straight to the hospital after a hit from him. I seen him hit a player so hard and dirty, The crack was as If flesh was slamming against concrete. It was unreal. Found out later that man vertebrae was jacked, a concussion, and a dislocated Knee.
Not quite, looking at all his contracts he made about 55 million in the NFL. Lost 5.5 million in fines/missed games, leaving him with nearly 50 million dollars. That being said, his net worth is only estimated at 12 million, he likely spent a lot of his money during his years playing because he thought that the gravy train would keep rolling. If he's responsible he'll be ok with that money but at least he isn't living Peyton Manning's life, he could've been but he was too scummy to play respectfully.
@@abigbutterstick1780 actually, his contracts were for that amount, but actual career earnings was ~$33 million, due to his final contract with the Bengals being cut short, earnings forfeitures, etc. Still, made way way more than he paid in fines. Which is a damn shame.
