I remember hearing from another RU-vid video that Jim Davis had written this comic after writing to fans about what they were afraid of, due to his thoughts that ghosts are not scary. Most of those that responded said they were most afraid of being alone. As a result he wrote this particular strip and had it released in October of 1989.

Jim Davis always claims, no, it's just cheap commercialism. Even when he makes a sequence like this which is not exactly merchandising-friendly to put it mildly, what's his excuse? OH, I DID A MARKET SURVEY. THIS IS WHAT SCARES PEOPLE. No way do I buy that. Garfield is not about the cat, it's a long-term performance art project. Garfield murdering his elderly owner in an earlier life, that wasn't marketing friendly either. "Why don't you go out in a blaze of dadaist glory?" XKCD's Randall Munroe asked. Davis didn't answer, but I bet he was thinking: I have been pouring the gasoline since day one, son.

This comic really shows Jim’s ability to draw comics. The shading, and the very way the whole thing looks makes me wish Garfield didn’t become so simplistic in terms of art style

I have to be honest and say that the comic strip is acctually creepier for me then gorefield The comic really gives the vibe that garfield lives in an hallucination and he really is what you described Gorefield was just hillarious from the first moment i've seen it,and it shows how it's aiming for the meme route more then anything

I remember one Garfield halloween episode on tv, where he and odie ends up on an island after collecting candy, meeting a creepy old man and pirate ghosts. That shit was some scary stuff considering it was for kids haha.

3:59 i played that game so many times it wasn't scary to me. To me it's actually pretty fun the only thing i hate is the spider room and the secret book puzzle i always forgot and i just have to keep guessing after 2 hours i did it but i hope that game is for android my computer broke
