I walked into this store and was looking at the cases of bursts. Elliot asked if I’d ever played one before. Told him I hadn’t and he opened the case and handed one to me. He left me alone in a room with a $350k. The staff was so cool. The dude’s at guitar center act annoyed and nervous when you ask to play a Les Paul, but this dude put one in my hands and I didn’t even ask. Shows how good of a dude he is.
I wanted to go in there and check stuff out when I was in town but they were so hardcore about masks I just told them they had a nice store and went down to Gruhn's and played some really sweet stuff. Carter's also had some cool stuff as well. It's just as well because I'm sure I couldn't have afforded anything in there anyway.
@@jeremyelliott9831 Yeah I passed on acting like a deranged cult member obsessed with a virus that has a 99.7% survival rate. But at least as long as I'm not drinking the kool aid there's more for you. So there's that.
I enjoy listening and watching Mark Agnesi discuss vintage instruments and their history. I just do. He knows his shit and I think he does a good job. Not a fanboy, but he’s good at this shit. Plain and simple.
When I was a student, I used to hang out every afternoon at Rumble Seat in Ithaca. Eliot is the man. I'll never forget when he insisted that I play an original 58 Flying V through his 100watt marshall in the middle of the store. An experience I'll never forget!
Got to visit this place last year. Eliot seemed to be a rad, genuine dude who really knows his stuff. He even offered to let me play one of the ‘59s they had. Great experience man. Can’t recommend Rumbleseat enough.
I'm so grateful to own one of the five Rumble Seat Music Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul's (and the only lefty) that Eliot Michael is talking about in this video (skip to the 5:45 mark). He was spot on when he said they are the best guitars we have ever played! #RumbleSeatMusic #GibsonCustom#VirtualGuitars
I went to Rumble Seat in Carmel. The absolute nicest guys I’ve ever dealt with in a guitar shop. I was on holiday from the UK and they handed me a ‘59 burst to play with no hesitation!
Gotta love it ! Done business with Elliot over the years and it was always seamless... Great guy, extremely knowledgeable along with the rest of his staff... Cheers Elliot ! Rudy@Guitar Relics NY
I was in Rumble Seat about a month before this interview was done. Eliot is a really cool guy, and enjoyed talking with me about his guitars. Such an awesome place.
I met that older gentleman, the owner, and both times I’ve been there he was extremely kind to me. Helped me out when I asked. Like that store a lot Edit: He didn’t show you stevie Ray Vaughan’s strat??? I still have the picture. It was so cool!!!
The “older gentleman” plays guitar like a cross between Page and Beck. I've been watching and listening to Eliot play since the 1970s. There are not many rock players his equal. One of the best ‘burst slingers around.
A colored Marshall amp was integral to one of the highlights of my "career." I got to play through Syndi's silver Marshall double stack when we opened for the Lunachicks at CBGB.
I miss going to the Rumble Seat Music store in Santa Fe NM years ago , my friend and I would gawk at the Jeff Beck owned Les Paul they had high up on the wall...they also had a pink sparkle Dan Armstrong bass that was very cool...Thank You Mark !
Ooh, those tasty LP jrs, Been a fan since seeing Johnny Thunders at the Marquee in London nearly 40 years ago. And a guitar for the two Ronnies : Wood and Lane !!! 😃
I like shops that don’t try to be all things to all people but specialize in one area and do it well. Rumble Seat Music seems to be one of those stores. Love seeing a bunch of Les Paul Juniors hanging on the wall. One pickup is all you need and Juniors are rock n’ roll machines. I gotta get me one. I think I prefer the singlecut juniors because they have more bottom end tone-wise. Another great video and killer shop with an owner that knows his stuff. So cool Mark!!!
That's what I'm saying. They did one of em a while back! They need to keep with that, but they're doin so much as it is, I just want them to get the guitars right, and they seem to be doing that
Well, they have to figure out a way to change it enough so that you'll hate it first. Then another company will come out with a real replica, Gibson wil sue, and continue to make the cheap version.
@@TheChadPad Yeah, I figure that it's on their list of things to do. They've launched several RU-vid features like this one, redid most of their product lineup, and transformed Epiphone. I imagine that amps aren't the highest thing on their list because they've had so much other work to do, but I think they'll eventually go for it. wouldn't be surprised if they get into the pedal market down the line too, though I hope they continue to focus on guitars first before getting too deep into that rabbithole
Completely addicted to this channel. Finally, Gisbon are doing it right! Bys are all super cool n best kind and chill. My entire weekend has been spent watching these. Keep it coming!
Been there a couple times.Eliot has been in the store both time I was there. Last week went in looked around talked to him for a minute about the Marshalls he has. He pointed out a Orange head that was a 200w?!?!? 200w!!!!!! Also noticed that a older employee that use to work a Gruhns works at Rumble Seat now. Don’t remember his name but he was always a solid dude when I visited Gruhns.
@@harrisjon1 I got a 2003 with no moons but it's SG special faded cherry with Ebony fret board and it's great but my 2017 Gibson SG standard black cherry burster and my 2019 Les Paul special double cut p90's cherry nitro is awesome too ! Can't forget any about my 2003 Gibson Les Paul jr.tv yellow p90 dog ear single cut made entirety out of Spanish cedar which is like a softer splintery version of mahogany !
aunt jenifer, WOW! Nice. I am starting to play again during the quarantine after a long hiatus and have the bug again!! I just purchased a Gibson G45 and now pondering getting a LP Standard or Tribute....kind of a beginner but would like to own one. Any thoughts?
@@harrisjon1 I suggest you check out the Gibson Les Paul special double cut p90's tribute I think it's called, that is the one I got ! It's better than a Jr. Because it's got 2 P90 pickups and they come in black, brown, cherry and white and guitar center was blowing em out $430-$460 is what I paid for my brand new 2019 Gibson Les Paul special double cut Tribute model and it's freaking awesome, the tone of these p90's is closer to the 1958 PAF sounds to me and the neck is perfectly level and plekked Nice big wide neck with the slim profile just like custom shop re issue that cost$3700 so for under $500 USA Gibson is the way to go ! It's literally a life long lasting first electric guitar that you won't grow out of its that good ! I'd say check those out for sure because you can't get any better guitar until you spend $2,000+ and if you don't go Gibson I would suggest the new 2020 squier classic vibe telecasters as they are just as good as the the Gibson Les Paul special double cut p90's, that and PRS se custom 22 or 24 for modern sounds and also suggest you check out the Gretsch stream series or the new silver jets $299 brand new the pick-ups sounds great out the box and I've got at least one of all these so I can speak from experience with the guitar. Hope that helps you choose a good one and usually you can get pro level guitar for under $500 ! You just have to study before you spend and get the guitar in your hands as I didn't order on line o always bought in person to play the guitar first and they're all great from squier classic vibe telecasters up to the Gretsch stream series to the PRS se custom series up to the Gibson Tribute model series they are all great first guitars that will last a lifetime and despite growing and learning more advanced techniques the guitar will still be able to keep up with even the most demanding touring musician,I should know I've done it and played hard 3-4 nights a week with the squier classic vibe telecaster and the PRS se custom 22 heavy gigging with just those 2 guitars ! I've yet to put the Gibson and Gretsch through touring and bars and festivals but they are even tougher than the squier classic vibe telecaster and PRS se so there's no doubt that there Gibson and cheap $299 Gretsch will hold up to whatever abuse you can throw at it ! Hope my experiences with these instrument can help you decide for yourself ! Good luck on your new semi new journey into music !
I buy all my basses from these guys. Drex is the man, and just got my pre cbs Jazz a week ago and it sounds stupid good. I’ve started coming here when they were in Ithaca when I was a little kid. UPSTATE MISSES YOU GUYS. Elliot is a stand up guy.
Before I purchased a vintage Les Paul from RSM a little while back, I asked to make sure all parts were original to the guitar before shipping it to me. They assured me that every part on the guitar was original and shipped the guitar. When I received it, I noticed that the toggle switch poker chip was not original. When I brought it up to RSM, they basically said "Oh well, you saw the pictures on our website and accepted!" This may not seem a big deal, but vintage Les Paul poker chips are hard to find these days and they're not cheap.Needless to say, they lost me as a customer (not that they care anyway).
That 59 burst in the case is with the double whites and Zebra is the guitar Joe Bonamassa has which he shows in his Collection Vid, you can tell by the imperfection in the top on the neck volume area.
Dreams do come. True, the Ultimate shrine of the Ultimate Guitars ,pinch me I think iam Dreamin..do ur Awesome. Thanks for sharing..u influence me to Believe cin my self and my dreams. K8ck ass Amigo..lio Galveston, Chow bro
Another KILLER Vid Mark!!! I've been chasing LP Jr.'s for sometime but whenever I get close something goes belly up on the house or cars.BTW,Mark, how many single cut black LP Jr.'s left Gibson in the '50's.Joe Bonamassa had one and it was in an article a few years back in Vintage Guitar Magazine.
Rumble Seat is one of my favorite destinations to hit when I'm in Nashville. Super cool folks and a great hang. Eliot is super-nice and Tobin Dale is the man.
OK, I own a couple vintage Gibson amps. They have a sound. The use a t-filter design that makes them the opposite of a Fender amp. Dark tone, no bark. Not all Gibson amps are voiced that way, but most of them are. So, make Gibson amps again? Maybe, but I'd sure like to be able to have a voice switch to remove the t-filters. But then again... my vintage Gibson amps are going nowhere, and like Eliot's colored Marshall's ... "not for sale".
