I've been in denial of having anxiety for a while. People have been telling me that I have anxiety and I've been like nah. while listening to this episode I have accepted that I have anxiety

Been working fairly successfully as a freelancer for 5 years. Every time a client emails me unexpectedly, I get the 'oop guess they hate me' anxiety.

pov: you're writing sticky notes to remember to see your therapist tomorrow and also to remember to talk about your ocd&adhd intersecting in the worst way possible recently. you see a new sciguys video. it's about anxiety. crazy that you're seeing this as you're thinking about anxiety. this always happens, you're literally psychic!! wait lets google psychics. no too much, lets read the whole wiki page instead. much quicker. oh, they're saying it's probably intentional trickery or self-delusion. am i trying to trick people? does that make you a bad person? what if it's just for a bit of fun? what makes a person bad anyway? oh no. okay, let's send myself a reminder to rewatcb "the good place". we'll figure this out. But mind you, it could be self-delusion, which feels waaaay better actually. wait, does this mean I've got some other mental illness i dont know about. okay, lets just have a google at what causes delusions. okay cool, let's just write down symptoms and check them off. open dsm-5 criteria. okay...okay. no, i think im all good. close tabs. lets watch something. ohmygod, the sciguys video, perfect!. wait what's this pen for? oh shit the sticky note.

Lifelong. But recently life changes brought me to a point where the end feels nearer than far. (I'm 51) in a way it's a relief, & I feel calmer than I can ever remember being. I'm focused on my responsibilities/care of my remaining animals..2 dogs & 4 horses. I'm feeling relaxed enough to enjoy the moment, & not only only obsess & worry like my nature always has. Feeling proud of all I "have" been able to do in my life. The idea of semi retirement..& no longer planning for anything very far in the future...its allowing me to breathe, deeply & profoundly.💙

Not even 10 minutes into the episode but just had to pause and have a good old chuckle as the example you gave about the autism assessment was literally me and reading my diagnostic report was basically like "she didn't reciprocate in conversation with the assessor" but that confused me as I have always been told assessment is about answering questions and being "professional" not being friends. I mean when did that change? 😮 Apparently that was an indicator of social deficits. And being blunt... Well I just warn people I sometimes lack a filter. 😅 And on with the episode 😊.

I got diagnosed with GAD and I don't get normal panic attacks. I just get a state of terrible dread for like a week where many things will trigger will make me want to curl up in a ball and stop existing. I think it's probably because I have an overarching dissociative disorder.

I've once had a panic attack that lasted for over an hour, like on and off/in waves. It happened in year 9 Science and it was my first panic attack. It happened because my teacher kept asking me questions in a row that I didn't know. It was so scary and I felt like I couldn't physically breathe/like I was having a heart attack. Now, it's like "oops, guess I'm having a panic attack again".

I've had something like panic attacks which I called mini panic attack which I felt was way to easily dismissed by the physiologist I had my autism assessment at. In those moments I did feel afraid of dying, that something was going horribly wrong, it was painful, but it only lasted about 30 seconds or so (who knows) what helped keep them short was to stand up and do something physical or anything to take me out of it. Have not had them ever since not working anymore so... that probably has something to do with it.

I have GAD, I live with the feeling that my fight or flight switch is jammed and stuck ON. Mind you I have so many diagnoses that GAD is not surprising

I didn’t know other people held their breath to stop their panic attack (I don’t recommend it) but it’s the only thing that’ll stop it unless someone else is physically present and is guiding me through deep breathing. By myself… Nah 😅
