Seamoon Funk Machine was the first envelope filter, and most importantly, the first envelope filter used by Jerry Garcia. Designed by Craig Anderton in 1973 San Francisco and manufactured by a MUSIC SHOP owner that believed they would sell, they have a LEGENDARY tonal pedigree on display here by this fantastic channel

That's awesome. I'm curious where you read/saw that it was Jerry's first envelope filter. I've always read he used a Mu-tron.

I love that even though English isn’t his first language, Gregor adds the corrections for any mistakes on the screen. English speakers don’t take enough time to do that and I love all the little things that show attention to detail in these vids 👍🏻

This is one of the most organic and fat sounding pedals available on the market. Great for recording, and preserves the LOWEND! Also you missed a monster setting that morphs the bass sound into a MOTOWN machine- set the put the frequency and blend on 100% and the depth to 0% and your bass instances turns into a subby, woofy, old school p bass machine that will drive your subwoofers til the cones rattle. One of my favorite settings hands down.

This might be my favorite sounding envelope filter I’ve heard in a long time. Most of them sound same-y to me and this one really made me stop and ask “what’s going on here?? Im not sure but I really dig it”

MXR M82 Envelope Filter and Eden's Californi-Wah , auto wah are what came to mind. This Seamon seams to have a bit more Depth.

I just got a Guyatone bottom wah rocker (BR2) that sounds an awful lot like this pedal. Without a blend knob. It’s definitely taking some tweaking to learn what it can do. It can do the intense alt metal squelch of Justin Chancellor perfectly. But I am now finding some of those classic funk tones in it as well. Would love to try this Funk Machine as well. Must be a similar circuit.

jamiroquai bassist stu zender used an effect similar to this in the song: "just another story." check it out! a very cool effect here. zender also was a bass genius imo.

Well if this guy in this upload hasn't heard of it he hasn't heard of George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic or Bootsy Collins & many more, as effects like this have been around for decades... During the 1970's & at the height of funk I think bassist's used more or as much effects pedals as lead guitarist's... I used to use a Distortion Pedal/Wah Wah Foot Rocker Pedal/Delay Pedal & a Chorus Pedalon my bass & i would get great some great sounds coming out of just those effects pedals... If your a bassist don't put restrictions on yourself with regards to style or what effects you might use & just go with it, as that how we made music... In light of the still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy where ever you are in the world... All The Best Over The Weekend fellow bassist's & other musician's... .....

Bootsy used this tone heavily on his 1976 debut "stretching out in bootsy's rubber band"

Bootsy actually used that effect before his debut album. He used his Mutron III on several Parliament and Funkadelic albums before his 1976 solo project...along with a couple dozen other pedals on his board...such as Echoplex, Big Muff, and WahWahs...

He's never heard before? That's okay, look up Bootsy Collins. I grew up on funk music in the 1970's and I bet the original Funk Machine pedal had a home on Bootsy's pedal board; as well as other bass players of Parliament-Funkadelics. I certainly know what to do with this pedal, SOLD!

BOOTSY DIDN'T USE IT HE USED A TON OF MUTRONS AND THEIR PHASERS IN THE EARLY DAYS AS WELL AS A WHOLE ARSENAL OF EFFECTS BUT I'VE NEVER EVER HEARD HIM SAY A THING ABOUT THIS PEDAL SORRY 😞
