@@magnusauslandstoresletten3786 : All chart music is pop regardless of genre. And Merseybeat is just a label given to bands who emerged from Liverpool at this time. Rock 'n Roll is not confined to Elvis, Bill Haley etc. Over the years it has evolved into a broader spectrum. Even Hard Rock and Heavy Metal is defined as rock' n'' roll and that's a long way from being the rock 'n'' roll of the fifties and early sixties.
According to John McNally, they hated these particular suits. Looking at them now, it looks like a group of accountants have picked up a few instruments.
@@ZerokillerOppel1 In a sense it was, but let us face it, like The Beatles, they only wore it because they were told to in order to get a record contract.
Some of my very ,earliest music,I remember my father playing on vinyl, were these guys!! Must be one of the most "over looked "bands of da 60,s!!!!!precious memories 😢
Superb. A shame that Tony Jackson got kicked out by Chris Curtis. I've never heard the real story about that or why McNally and Pender went along with it.
Tony Jackson was the voice of the Searchers..iin my opinion, his unique vocals, and stage preasence was instantly recognisable in the band's early days..they lost that when he went on to form the Vibrations ...watch the video of Saturday Night Out.....Greetings from Ireland
As an IMMEDIATE fan here in the USA, (1964) I much agree! Pender did very well on what he did, and I love his voice and style ... but they (Crummey) had no clue that there was room for both singers in the band.
wie korrekt die musiker damals gekleidet waren, man erkennt förmlich die qualität der kleidung, heute laufen einige in jogging hose und schlabber t shirt rum. greetings from good old germany !
Loved the band and loved this song. Thanks for posting. That was a long time ago. I was 11 years old. My first set of drums was a silver sparkle set of Ludwigs.
Fantastic Liverpool band. Second best only to The Beatles! I just love seeing them diddley-dancing somewhat like the bobble-head puppets from the hit series from that era, Thunderbirds. It's so much of the times.
I don't know man...there was a time in the Merseybeat era when the Beatles and Gerry & the Pacemakers were neck-and-neck for popularity. Of course, with the benefit of hindsight, we now know the Beatles were in a league of their own and incomparable to anyone else. But those Merseybeat days must have been absolutely magic 😀
@@stephaniem5091 😀 you are, of course, perfectly entitled to enjoy and love two bands equally. But when history remembers music from the mid-to-late 20th century, we all know which band will be at the top of the list 😉
Always good. Have their greatest hits on cassette. Very good Sound quality on the cassette. CDs lose the echo for some reason. Digital signature I guess. Vynil and Cassettes don't.
Lip Sync has improved these days - In fairness this is a promo: Not an actual recording session (no sound baffles and the Ficord 4 track is the wrong model), the mixing panel we used then at the EMI studios was a basic 32 channel - From my actual memory! The Searchers were a bloody great band and their songs continue to please subsequent generations. More than said for the doof doof rubbish abounding at the moment.
I love this song. But it's funny ... Tony Jackson was tuning his bass at the start, and he's not even plugged into an amp ... doesn't even have a cable! :-)
@@Orangemga1600 Well, I gave it a 10th and 11th look! :-) I still didn't see one! I believe those Rivoli basses had the output jack on the top of the instrument and it would have been clearly visible, as the two guitars are. No biggie! Glad to have this classic piece of rock and roll history!
The Searchers were the top guys for me. Mike was a hunk but as a few years passed, he just got more handsome and sexy. Sorry,, I should be talking about their music. Goes without saying, that was the tops too!
Diane Shepherd yeppers. I love merseybeat in general and I also listen to music that was recorded from 1860-1980. I mainly listen to music from the 60s. 😇👍
I do too. The 60s was undoubtedly the best music era. I sing 60s songs and a few 50s, and some from the 70s. Also recorded a "duet" with the "guys" !! I also sing musical theatre and even some light opera! So I have a wide range of genres, but I simply adored the 60s. I have all the Searchers videos in my folder now. Shame they split, but hey ho, that's life. I won't fall out with them over it!
U can tell what era this song is from by the equipment & the stripped dwn just singing & playin - not alot of fancy overdubs or computer generatored musical effects. The music had 2 stand on its own!
Sir Athos Putnam here is the link to Super Mario Bros 3 soundtrack. When i heard this song part of it reminded me of SMB 3 soundtrack ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WT5nfQJP40Y.html
Tony Hatch wrote this song for The Searchers in '63. Sounds a little like Sheila by Tommy Row from '62 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0i-wfec5HGY.htmlsi=oS4lZFaRASWGV__w
