Hey buddy. Fan of your channel. Finally getting my first real ADV bike thanks to you tomorrow. Was 10th in line for a tenere 700 at the dealership then everyone backed out!
I thought the climb up to the lookout was Amasa back, then the trails down were CliffHanger and Rockstacker. Rode this a few times over the years on Mtb when there was almost no motor traffic then there was buggies and others and now bikes. I remember parts being somewhat sketchy on a mtb, I couldn't imagine riding on a dirt bike and def not on an adv bike. Some skilled riders. Thanks for the video.
All right then, I'll say it... I found myself tensing up just WATCHING this! Doubt I'll take that particular trail on a bike, not in this lifetime. Stunning views, impressive riding, and I'll vouch for ya... the beer was deserved. Thanks for taking us virtually on your ride, Chris!
Man that's pretty epic - seeing that big 890 on that trail!! Did Radek get any vids from behind? Your GoPro stabilization makes it look so easy but we know that's one of the hardest trails out there.
Some points were absolutely scary! The landscape is astonisging, but I don't think it's possible to go there, unless you're a really good rider. The only problem with the footage is that you can't really understand how dangerous and hard that trail can be. Anyway, a fantastic video, thank you very much.
Chris is ........ah, hard to say how many levels above a really good rider, hes been top 10 in the world or better..and he makes near impossible look like every day riding...........personally I dont trailride my 890R. Too late in life to go back to hospital time.
Someone forgot to tell you this trail is not possible on a KTM 890 Adventure bike. I did this a few years back on my 300 XCW and thought it was difficult on that!
The Cliff Hanger trail is not the most technical trail I've ridden because you have all that open area to the left for an ending that is not a cliffhangar. Your final maneuvers will be unimpeded, straight to the bottom.
Yeah not bad birchy so where is that trail what do the call it and is it in Arizona ? As lm geographically retarded and haven't riden out of Australia and after a track like that l would be drinking the Australian equivalent to red bull and that would be a can of black bull and dear l say it vegimite in a can the one and only Bundy and coke no warm bud is good for anyone
Thanks for sharing beautiful day , looks like Moab , that's some serious trail riden . Itchy 👢 has some great Moab footage , when she was on the mend , with some scenic drone shots .
Hey Chris, Im a big of yours. Vince here from the philippines. Ive watched SNSL adv series and i learned a lot. I owned a 390 adv 2020.Hope to meet u someday. @ChrisBirch
Complimenti a tutti e 3 nel video molto coinvolgente trasmettete la vostra capacità sulle 2 ruote, aggiungo il contesto dove girate è surreale cosa mai vista, bravi.
Almost fell out of my chair a few times from unconsciously trying to lean away from that cliff edge! LOL! I've ridden out in that area, but not on a big bike like that or on trails that sketchy. Fun to watch though!
fricking great ride! I know everyone wants to hear what your hear on the com system, (you may not want that) but I what I have done is, Ran my external mic (Sony stereo mic) and mad a small cut out right behind the speaker cutout with one of the mic ends up against the speaker, check that it works and hot glue it in place with a wind guar on top (i cut a piece of one of the fury ones (dead cat) and glued it on top. no wind noise and you can still hear my voice as before!!! oh and now you can hear the com system!! great VID!!! love the area!
Fantastic ride and mad skills Chris! What setup are you running on air box on the 890? Several guys having issues with dust getting into the motor in South Africa and in some instances even with the Twin Air prefilter installed.
Hahaha. Pabst Blue Ribbon beer? Now come on. I did Cliffhanger alone in the middle of August 2012 with a 101 degrees air temperature on an old 2002 CRF450. Yes I was young and dumb at the time. But no one offered me a beer. But good show gentlemen!
No words for the skills all you guys showed on this trail. At 62 riding 890 adv r, and planning to ride the Tat and do the colorado passes and Moab , your training series has helped me immensely. I watch it all every day and then try to put it into practice. Maybe next lifetime I’ll get to ride on these types of trails. Thank you for the inspiration and your training series, i think it’s absolutely way way too cheap 🤷♂️.
Knew I recognized this from the Capt Ahab downhill mtb loop that splits off from Cliff Hanger. Pretty cool seeing big adventure bikes climb up those steps.
I spent part of that video leaning away from the screen helping you keep away from the edge! Not good with heights. Target fixation would be a real issue there. I'd have brown riding gear even if I didn't hit the deck! Epic place to ride, scenery is spectacular...
It's the rider, not the bike. I am so impressed what you ride with the 890. I continue to struggle with the weight and my limited ability to hold the bike off-balance. Lifting the 890 is definetivly more challenging than lifting the 690. But, I learned to trust in the 890 and momentum. Most time it works. And you instruction video series helped, too. Thanks Chris!
@@ChrisBirchNZ I still love my 1090R, but maybe time to move to the 890R. I really like the LC8 and the clutch. Not a fan of the weight distribution. I have an 890 Duke R and love that engine for different reasons (it's a road rocket) Cheers and enjoy Moab its a riders paradise.
Birchy in Moab! Sweet! Take it from an expert... spend six months 🙂 An occasional beer at the Moab Brewery for sustenance and few runs to Lake Powell for some jet skiing and you'd conquer a good NZ winter...
In the class he said throw the pressure guage away. Run what works while keeping in mind there are differences between mud and rocks ability to cause damage.
