I assure him that, despite the fact that it's a taboo to expose the origins of an individual in Ashanti, we Ashantis don't dispute the assertion that Asante grew out of the ashes of Denkyira. Indeed, 2/3 of the territory of present day Asante, and probably all Asantes trace their ancestry to Denkyira. In the same vein, Asante culture and practices were developed around those of Denkyira. I believe the territory we call Asante would still have been part of a great Denkyira kingdom, but for the bad leadership of Ntim Gyakari. Another reason for the fall of Denkyira was their inability to assimilate conquered people, thus creating the them-and-us dichotomy, with it's attendant enmity and strife. We Asantes will forever salute and celebrate Denkyira and Akwamu, because we are what we are, because of these 2 states, with majority of us tracing our origins to the great Denkyira Kingdom. This young man is a Griot. He should stay away from Caucasian history about Kmt. Asante ancestry is rather to Adansi. Kwaman, Dwaben and Mampong are all Adansi who dispersed after the fall of Adansi. Adansi ruled Denkyira and much of Akan until their fall to Denkyira., who subsequently fell to the Asantes. Adansi and Denkyira migrated from Egypt and settled here. It is far fetched for Denkyira to be the spiritual home of Akans when both had a common spiritual system and Adansi become the superior. Enough on that. The young man is empowered but he needs lot of reconciliations with the chronology of events and general history. We cannot leave out the influence of the dutch forcing Ntim Gyakari to supply slaves and gold for weapons and trade. These forced him to raid other Akan lands causing widespread anger and hatred against him and Denkyira. It is dishonest to call it a civil coup. Kwaman, Dwaben and the other states were subject of Denkyira. They were not ethniclly Denkyira. The Asante KIngdom was created before the war. From Adansi to Denkyira to Asante.
You have forgotten Adansi Kingdom, which was defeated by Denkyira. Adansi people were the first people to build houses. Denkyira copied from Adansi. Asante learned from Adansi and Denkyira and perfected what they learned from them.

If there is more history before the fall of denkyira in the making of Asante they should say it n unite the Akans under on power if even there is different groups now we still carry the same culture like one people. It’s a shame he’s not allowed to disclose details of the doctrines. But it speaks to the very reasons our rich history is lost. He undoubtedly sounds very knowledgeable and there are clear fragments of the insights he shares that can be corroborated by the known and documented creation stories. Would’ve been great if there was a way to reveal as much as possible and figure out a way to guard against penetrators and attacks and to have a committed analytics team that would comprehensively document all he speaks about: sharing these tribe lines and rulerships and not conceal our roots under wraps! Also, it’s quite admirable that blacks in the diaspora are sharing knowledge of various researches. However, I believe as close as we are to “the Source”, we are in the best position to share this heritage with the world and we should step up to the challenge!

Could the presenter invite Nana Boadu to tell us the account of the Guans from Dankyira, perspective? Just so you know, Tutu, which is a Guan village, was there before the first Akan arrived in the region so this makes your submission a little inaccurate. However, a deep dive into my ancestral journey pushed me beyond what have been written and presented to us as history of Guans. Just in case you are not aware, most historians are bias toward their interest which often results in distortion of history.

The golden stool came before the Ashanti Denkyira war, the main cause of the war was when Nyinahini gyakari demanded the golden stool which okomfo Anokye had commanded from heaven as the symbol of Ashantis unity and strength. Please do not twist history for any selfish interest ok, we are all learning. If the golden stool was captured from any tribe rather than been commanded from Heaven they would have lost it for a very long time.
Ntim Gyakari requested for gold in brass pans, gold dust and the wife of the Asantehene called Amane3. He didn't request for golden stool. His explanation is right. Nobody named the federation "asante". When the federation was formed, it wasn't given a name, so people had to use the reason why the federation was formed to refer to the people. The reference used was "the people who came together because of war - asa nti fo (asantefoo)". It's similar to how in asante region refer to people from the northern region who came to the south as "nta foo" (people who come in pairs).

Nobody hate Asante because the very Asante you are seeing today are the very denkyira you don’t like to see. It’s few denkyira left out in central region. The people who formed Asante are all the denkyira people because they didn’t like their king so they stood against him.
